Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Earth Beauty of Friendship Sneak Peek with Video Tutorial

Happy half-way-thru-the-weekend! Hope it’s going well. Our planting plans were thwarted by rain most of the day on Saturday. And I suspect we’ll be thwarted by eveything-is-soaking-wet-and-muddy today. So…another inside-work day for us, I’m guessing. Bleh. 😉

This card features a sneak peek at the new Beauty of Friendship stamp set with its bundled Beautiful Trees dies – with the Beauty of the Earth DSP taking center stage! You’ll be able to get all of it starting on 4 May when the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog goes live. Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches this week!

I started with some of the Beauty of the Earth DSP that I cut for a card front – then I cut a smooth-side circle from the middle using a Layering Circles Die.

I matted the DSP panel on Misty Moonlight and Cinnamon Cider mats using Liquid Glue.

I matted the DSP circle on scallop-edge die cuts – in Misty Moonlight and Cinnamon Cider – from the Layering Circles dies. Then I added it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

The Beautiful Trees dies has two rectangular dies for sentiments. I used the smaller one to cut a wood-grain piece of DSP from the Beauty of the Earth DSP.

I stamped the Beauty of Friendship sentiment in Cajun Craze on a piece of Basic White and cut it with the second rectangle die in the Beautiful Trees dies – then adhered it to the wood rectangle with Liquid Glue.

Now – my trim uses Crumb Cake and White Baker’s Twine from the brand new Baker’s Twine Combo Pack (it has FIVE rolls of twine!!). I cut about 16″ of each – two in Crumb Cake and one in White.

I tied them together in a knot and then braided it. When I got done – I used Glue Dots to adhere the “rope” in a figure-8 loop to the card front.

I added a few double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals right by the loops and used them to adhere my sentiment to the card front – and that was it!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Beauty of Friendship sentiment in Cajun Craze to a Basic White panel. In the corner, I stamped the tree trunk image in Early Espresso, added the smaller tree top in Cinnamon Cider (this is SUCH a cool image!). Then I used the little splotches image to stamp all over in Cajun Craze and Misty Moonlight.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Misty Moonlight and Cinnamon Cider mat and then into my Cajun Craze card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Beauty of Friendship tree on the front…

…and more of the wood-grain Beauty of the Earth DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! This Beauty of the Earth suite is so gorgeous – with the watercolor-inspired images in the DSP and the wonderful sentiments and trees in the Beauty of Friendship stamp set. And – I haven’t even really gotten busy with the Beautiful Trees dies!

Finn Fan Fix

On Friday evening we had our friends Ed, Jan and Lois over for dinner for the first time in….ever?

No – of course not “ever’ – it just really feels that way!

We set up to cook and eat on the patio and God graced us with an absolutely perfect evening! The weather was spectacular, the company wonderful and the food tasted amazing! I am very very grateful for this little moment in time!

Finn ALSO had a good time.

In truth – he was sort of a hot mess for the first few minutes (driving home the fact that he needs more outside-world-contact and a bunch of obedience tune-up!!) – but then he settled down to his normal goofy, sweet and laid-back self!

Which is not to say that he wasn’t ALSO checking for any suckers who might have been pulled up to the table!

He also graced us with a glamour shot!

Stampin’ Up! Flowers of Friendship Sneak Peek Fun Fold with Video Tutorial!

Morning, y’all – happy Friday! Hope you’ve got something cool planned for the weekend. I feel like we do, but…I can’t think what it is. So….guess we’ll see as the days go by, huh? I KNOW we’ll be doing some planting. But…beyond that… 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I pulled out a new stamp set – so new, in fact, that only Demonstrators can get it right now! That’ll all change on 4 May with the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog! This is the Flowers of Friendship stamp set and the bundled Flowers & Leaves Punch. And…I’ve showcased three great new 2021-2023 In Colors! All in a super-easy fun fold. Take a look-see:

This one was inspired by the CASE The Designer challenge over on the Global Design Project Challenge this week.

I started with a piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock. I used the next-to-largest Stitched Rectangle die to cut a panel that I adhered to a Thick Basic White card base, at a jaunty angle, with Liquid Glue.

I used the same Stitched Rectangle Die to cut a Basic White panel. Using my Stamparatus, I stamped the Flowers of Friendship sentiment in Fresh Freesia. Then I popped the panel onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a strip of Basic White, I stamped the large and small flowers and leaves from Flowers of Friendship in Fresh Freesia and Soft Succulent. Then I punched the pieces with the bundled Flowers & Leaves Punch.

I adhered the leaves with Liquid Glue then popped the flowers over top with more Dimensionals. Then I added a Pale Papaya gem from the new 2021-2023 In Color Jewels to the middle of the flowers and the card front was done!

For the back, I again used my Stamparatus, first to add a second sentiment from Flowers of Friendship in Fresh Freesia to a Basic White panel. Then, using the Marker-to-Rubber technique – I stamped the large floral image in Fresh Freesia, Soft Succulent and Early Evergreen.

I added another 2021-2023 In Color Jewel, used Liquid Glue adhere the panel to a Fresh Freesia mat and then onto the back of the card base.

To make the “tent mechanism” – I used a 3 1/4″ x 3 7/8″ piece of Basic White (tip – if you’re using a different color card base – match that color, okay?). Using my Simply Scored Board, I scored along the short side at 3/8″, 1 5/8″ and 2 7/8″. Then folded at the score lines – Valley, Mountain, Valley.

I used Tear & Tape adhesive on the short “tabs” to adhere the mechanism to the inside of the card base. Check the video if these words are more confusing than helpful! 😉

And that was it for the card.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Flowers of Friendship floral on the front (Stamparatus, again!)…

…and more of the flowers and leaves on the envelope flap.

I also made the same card with Pale Papaya and one with Pink Polish as the focal colors!

Et Voila! Pretty easy way to notch up a “basic” tent fold card, am I right? 🙂

I am LOVING the new 2021-2023 In Colors, aren’t you? And the new Flowers of Friendship set with its bundled Flowers & Leaves Punch really lets them shine, don’t you think??

Finn Fan Fix

Sometimes, the only thing that can make a girl (or her husband – he just won’t admit it!) feel better is some good old-fashioned retail therapy!

So – as I mentioned in my video, we went to Costco on Wednesday – and ended up buying more Confederate Jasmine (so we’ve got three now!) and some lavender. And three more of the amazing trellises…trellisae?…that we’d bought a couple weeks back.

And Wayne has been building horse-shoe planters for us (it’s a theme here!) – sized to fit 20 gallon Grow Bags.

He was busy helping the jasmine find it’s finger and toe holds so it can climb its trellis.

Just throwing this out there – if Heaven doesn’t smell like Jasmine then….if probably should! Not trying to tell God His job or anything, but… 😉

Stampin’ Up! Elegantly Said Butterfly Sneak Peek for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all! It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!! We’ve got a theme challenge to work with today and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table! I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

When I saw the theme, I took it as tacit permission to pull out one of my favorite new bundles – the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle! And – I also wanted to play with a new stamp set coming on 4 May in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog – called Elegantly Said. Take a look-see:

And I pulled my layout from this week’s FabFriday challenge, too!

I started with a piece of the pretty Peony Garden DSP (retiring soon and on SALE!!) that I adhered with Liquid Glue to the front of a Petal Pink card base.

Next, I matted another design from Peony Garden on Evening Evergreen cardstock (this is one of our new 2021-2023 In Colors and will be available to you on 4 May!) using Liquid Glue – then I adhered that to the card front.

On a smaller piece of Natural Touch Specialty Paper (available ONLY until 3 May!) I stamped the large corner image from the Elegantly Said stamp set (coming on 4 May!) in Evening Evergreen. I stamped it once in one corner then turned it and stamped it in the opposite corner. Hint: ink takes a hot second to dry on this Specialty Paper – so…go get a drink and a snack. Or…pull out your Heat Tool and wield it on the low setting like I did to speed it along! 😉

Once it was all dry, I matted that panel on Evening Evergreen and then adhered it to the card front.

I stamped the Elegantly Said sentiment in Petal Pink on Basic White and cut it with the smaller oval in the Double Oval Punch. I used the scalloped oval to punch an Evening Evergreen mat. I popped the sentiment onto the mat with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

With two pieces of gold Simply Elegant trim (part of the Simply Elegant suite and coming on 4 May), I tied a big loopy bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

I stamped one of the butterflies from Butterfly Elegance (remember – a while back I told you that I’d cut the large butterfly image apart so that I can stamp just one at a time!) in Evening Evergreen on a piece of the Peony Garden DSP. Then I cut it with the large die in the Brilliant Wings Die set.

I cut the same-size detailed Brilliant Wings butterfly from Vellum cardstock and adhered it to the solid butterfly with a Glue Dot. Then I added some Genial Gems (new in the 2021-2022 AC!) down the body of the butterfly.

I used some Liquid Glue on top of the bow – and a double-stack of Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the butterfly over the bow.

I added a final Genial Gem to the sentiment oval and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Elegantly Said sentiment in Petal Pink on a Basic White mat. I also added the pretty flower image from the set a few times in Evening Evergreen. Serious – how pretty is that flower!?? 🙂

I added a Genial Gem then used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Evening Evergreen mat and into the Petal Pink card base and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more of the Elegantly Said flowers in Evening Evergreen on the front…

…and more of the Peony Garden DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! Butterfly Brilliance is…brilliant!! And the bundled and gorgeous Brilliant Wings just makes it like a thousand times more amazing! I am loving the beautiful sentiments and decorative images (that FLOWER!!) in the new Elegantly Said stamp set, too – and know you’re going to love it, too, when you get your hands on it in May!

Stampin’ Up! Hand-Penned Petals Sneak Peek Tower Fun Fold Card

Happy Hawwmp Day, y’all! Thank you to everyone for all the kind words about Katy that you left in the comments and e-mails yesterday. I truly appreciate each and every one of you! 🙂

My card today is another Tower fun fold – and is the subject of the Wednesday Tutorial over at Split Coast Stampers – complete with a video! Hope you’ll check it out!

This fun-fold has become one of my faves – it REALLY looks complicated until you sort of “break it down”! I made one previously with the new Pansy Petals suite (see it – plus a Video Tutorial – right here!) and this one today is another fave – the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set and bundled Penned Flowers Dies, plus the gorgeous Hand-Penned DSP. Take a look-see:

I started this one with a piece of Pale Papaya card stock (avail on 4 May in the new catalog!) that I scored and cut according to this template, using my trusty Simply Scored Board and Paper Trimmer.

Then I folded the score lines according to this template:

Once it was a “tower” – I began to decorate, using the pretty new Hand-Penned Suite of goodies!

I matted pieces of the new Hand-Penned DSP on Misty Moonlight cardstock and, using Liquid Glue, adhered them to the front and back panels of the card base.

I cut three largest Stitched Shapes squares – two in Misty Moonlight and one in Basic White. Tip: if you don’t have the Stitched Shapes set already, it is – SADLY!! – sold out. You can simply cut 2 5/8″ squares of the cardstock.

I adhered the Misty Moonlight squares to the card front with Liquid Glue – tipping them up into diamonds.

I stamped the Hand-Penned Petals sentiment in Misty Moonlight onto the white square and then adhered it over the other two squares.

On a piece of new Soft Succulent cardstock, I stamped the two-step wildflower image from Hand-Penned Petals in Soft Succulent ink and cut them with the matching die from Penned Flowers. I adhered them both to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Next, I stamped the large flower image from Hand-Penned Petals in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and colored it with the new Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends (avail 4 May) as well as the Daffodil Delight Blends (avail now!). Then I cut it with its Penned Flowers Die.

I popped the flower onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, added a Genial Gem (new and available on 4 May!) and the card front was done!

For the back panel, I stamped the flower in Tuxedo Black on a Basic White panel and colored it as I’d done the flower on the front! I also added another of the Genial Gems – cuz I really really like them!! 😉

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Misty Moonlight mat and onto the back of the card base and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more Hand-Penned Petals flowers on the front…

…and more of the Hand-Penned DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! Hard to say what I like better – the cool Tower Fun Fold or the new and wunnermus Hand-Penned Petals Bundle and Hand-Penned DSP! I think it might be a toss up and have officially decided that I don’t have to choose! I can love them both!

Finn Fan Fix

Yesterday wasn’t a great day at the Deatherage house. It was the day we had to pay the piper for 18 years with our sweet Katy. I had to make the tough decision to send her on to the Rainbow Bridge to be with the other good kitties from our family who have gone ahead.

Stampin’ Up! Friends Are Like Seaside Seashells Birthday

Good morning and welcome to the week. Also? It’s now officially less than a month before we wing our way to the Aloha State! Yeah! And – we found out some good news – there is a Costco on BOTH Maui AND Kauai!! Which means…my happy place is IN paradise! It’s like…Happy-Place-SQUARED!! And we can get food for meals and snacks, too! Whoo-hooo!!

I’ve got a card that harkens to the sea today (THAT was poetic, huh!?) using the pretty Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set, a little faux stitching from the Stitched With Whimsy dies, and…some pretty Seaside Shells stickers! 😉 Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

And, although I didn’t go as bright as the colors in the challenge picture, my color palette is from the Color Throwdown challenge.

I started with a Basic White panel that I die cut/embossed with the Stitched With Whimsy next-to-largest die. Then I matted the panel on Soft Sea Foam for the card front.

I stamped a Friends Are Like Seashells sentiment in Soft Sea Foam near the bottom of the panel.

I de-sticky-fied some of the Seaside Shells stickers (remember – you can use your Embossing Buddy, or your arm or clothes – just tap the sticker on your chosen surface to dull the sticky!) – and popped them onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second Friends Are Like Seashells sentiment in Soft Sea Foam. Then I added a So Saffron starfish and a Seaside Spray sand dollar next to it.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Soft Sea Foam mat and into my So Saffron cardbase, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more Friends Are Like Seashells shells on the front…

…and some Sand & Sea DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! Simple. Easy. Pretty! I like it! Friends Are Like Seashells is part of an amazing bundle that includes the wunnermus Seaside Seashells Dies (these are the ones that coordinate with the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder! It’s all in the Jan – Jun 2021 Mini Catalog and you can still get your hands on all of it!

Stampin’ Up! Easy Hand-Penned Memories & More Card Sneak Peek with Video Tutorial!

Good morning – hope your weekend is going well! Our On Tour virtual event yesterday was great – I got some super cool ideas to share with y’all in the coming weeks as the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog gets closer – so…stay tuned, okay?!

I am such a fan of the new Hand-Penned Memories & More Card Pack! It has so many possibilities for super-easy card making (oh – and it’s ALSO great for scrapbooking! 😉 ) – and it lets you make quick – easy – and WUNNERMUS cards in no time! For this one, I paired it with some Hand-Penned DSP and a die from the Penned Flowers Dies. This card pack – as well as the entire Hand-Penned Suite – will be available to customers on 4 May! Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from the Mojo Monday sketch challenge!

I started with some pretty Pale Papaya paper from the Hand-Penned DSP that I matted on Garden Green for the card front. Then I pulled out a second design from the DSP pack and cut the top of the piece with the scalloped die in the Penned Flowers Die set. Remember – this Penned Flowers will be bundled with the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set.

I adhered the scallop-edge panel onto the bottom of the card front with Liquid Glue.

I pulled two coordinating small panels from the Hand-Penned Memories & More Card Pack and cut them both down a little bit. Then I adhered the yellow-striped card to the card front at an angle with Liquid Glue.

I popped the second card over the first with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Next, I used some Stampin’ Seal to add a length of Pale Papay 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon in a loose Z-shape.

I pulled one of the sentiment stickers included in the Hand-Penned Memories & More Card Pack and de-sticky-fied the back. Tip: when you’re going to use a sticker and want to pop it on Dimensionals (and who WOULDN’T?!?) – then you want to “dull” the sticky. Use an Embossing Buddy if you have it to pat the sticky side of the sticker. Or – tap it on your bare arm or on your jeans! 🙂

Once I de-sticky-fied the label – I popped it over the ribbon with the aforementioned Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a few diamond-shaped Clear epoxy elements from the new Silver & Clear Epoxy Essentials (coming on 4 May in the new catalog) here and there and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added another sticker sentiment – this time using as an actual sticker – on a Basic White panel. In the corner, I added a floral sticker – it comes in black and white. I colored it with the Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends (yes!! New blends in the new catalog!).

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Garden Green mat and into my Mint Macaron card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got another of the Blends-colored floral stickers on the front…

…and added more of the Hand-Penned DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! As someone commented on the Live video – it would be hard to make a NOT-pretty card with the gorgeous Hand-Penned Suite, right?? And the Hand-Penned Memories & More Card Pack is not only gorgeous – it’s handy as all get out!

Finn Fan Fix

The other day as I was tidying up the barn aisle – I happened to look up at our Maternity Ward.

And – there she was!

She was – apparently – hoping for her 10 minutes of fame, cuz she hung around for me to fumble my phone out of my pocket – wake it up and get to the camera – aim – focus – click. She departed immediately thereafter!

And – a little later – I got a glimpse of what she wanted to show me…

Not really their best side, but…they’re young yet.

Guess I need to put the dog bed under the muzzle so that when flying school starts – their first failures won’t be so likely to end in tragedy! 🙁

Finn Fan Fix

Last night, Wayne, Finn and I had a staycation.

We went “camping”.

Well – we grilled steaks over our new cooker/fireplace doohickey that we got from Costco (cuz…Costco is awesome!).

We have finally got our patio area behind the barn apartment sort of mostly kind of practically almost finished. So – Wayne gathered up some oak and we grilled out. Over actual WOOD!

It. Was. Heaven! 🙂

Wayne was the chef.

We had steaks and asparagus and a potato. Some sauteed squash and mushrooms. And salad!

And then it was time to see if Mom has a different attitude when she eats outside!

He even pulled out “sit pretty”….while staring intently at my plate.

I’m only a little ashamed to confess that I caved. 😉

Afterwards – we still had fire.

And…we had marshmallows. And hershey bars. But…nary a graham cracker to be found. 🙁

But – I did have….

The components for Marma-ladies!!

Yum!

We decided we need to try to do this once a week!

We’ll see how that works when summer “hits”! 😉

Stampin’ Up! Playful Timeless Tropical Birthday Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning! It’s Weekend-Eve! Whoo-hoo! Hope your plans are all made and that you’re going to be doing something fun! 🙂 I’ll be attending our virtual “On Tour” Event in the morning and then it’ll be out to the garden!! Unless it’s raining. Then that second part might have to adjust. Flexibility is key!

For this one – a slimline card – I used a few goodies that are carrying over in the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog – the Timeless Tropical stamp set with the coordinating In The Tropics die set. Plus – check out the Playful Alphabet dies sentiment! Take a look-see:

The layout was inspired by this week’s Sunday Stamps challenge.

And the tropical theme….from the Cupcake Inspiration photo challenge!

I started with a piece of the wonderful In Good Taste DSP (Yes! This IS carrying over into the next catalog – whoohooo!!!) that I matted on Soft Suede for the card front.

Next, I matted a piece of Very Vanilla on Soft Suede and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used the Playful Alphabet dies to cut the letters from a second (darker) piece of In Good Taste. Then I adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On Very Vanilla, I stamped the smaller flower from Timeless Tropical in Poppy Parade and two leaves in Old Olive. I used a Blender Pen to “pull” ink to shade the flowers and leaves – then cut them out with their In The Tropics dies.

I also used a couple of the In The Tropics dies from Old Olive and Mossy Meadow card stock. Then it was time to adhere the leaves to the card front – using Liquid Glue. I popped the flowers on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut a few more small flowers from Mango Melody and adhered them with Liquid Glue.

I added some Opal Rounds to the middle of the stamped flowers and some Pearl Basic Jewels that I’d colored with my Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend to the middle of the small die cut flowers – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the small Timeless Tropical flower in Poppy Parade in the corner of a Very Vanilla panel. I stamped the flower onto a sticky note and fussy cut it to make a mask – and placed that over the stamped flower. Then I stamped the leaf image in Old Olive. I removed the mask and “pulled” the ink with my Blender Pen. I added an Opal Round to the middle of the flower, then added a sentiment from Timeless Tropical in Soft Suede.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Soft Suede mat and into my Old Olive card base – popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I pulled out a basic business-sized envelope and added the Timeless Tropical flower and leaves on the front…

…and a little more In Good Taste DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila! Are you ready to head to the tropics for a birthday celebration now? Timeless Tropical and the In The Tropics die set will make you crave sand and palm trees!
