Stampin’ Up! Gingham & Sweetest Cherries Card

Good morning and happy Monday!  I’m typing this up at 4am on Monday cuz…last night the power went out just as we got done feeding Cady – and didn’t come BACK on until after 10.  Anyone who knows me knows I am in BED at 10 – getting up to do a blog post weren’t gonna happen!  We had a pretty good storm – not as bad as the adrenaline-spiking “THERE IS A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR YOUR AREA” messages made me think it would be but…I guess a tree went down somewhere – cuz it wasn’t just us.

I was happy we were each able to get in a “Navy shower” with the remaining water pressure  – we’d been working outside and were…uhm…yucky.  AND – the storm cooled it off just enough that we were able to open the house and – if we held real still – go to sleep.  Just in time for the power to return and trigger the printer to come on, the lights in the kitchen, all the fans…. 😂. We WERE happy for those fans, though, for sure!

Long before the power went out – I made a quick card in summer colors featuring some on-sale Glorious Gingham DSP and a few Sweetest Cherries!  Take a look-see:

Stampin' Up! Gingham & Sweetest Cherries Card - Stamps-N-Lingers

The fun layout was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

And the color palette was inspired by the Color Throwdown challenge!

I started by adhering a piece of Blueberry Bushel Glorious Gingham 6″ x 6″ DSP to a Poppy Parade mat and then to a larger Pecan Pie mat to make the card front.

For the triangle – I started with a 2 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock.  I marked the half-way point on the short side (1 1/4″) – then used the Paper Trimmer to cut each diagonal from the corners to the mark.  Finally – I cut the pointed end off at 3 5/8″! 🙂

And…then I ended up covering that point end with a cherry! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Oh well.  But – now YOU know how to make a straight-tipped triangle! 😎😎😎

On the white triangle, I stamped the sentiment from Sweetest Cherries in Pecan Pie ink – then I adhered the panel to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the cherries three times in Poppy Parade ink and the stem three times in Pecan Pie.  Then I cut them all out using the Cherry Builder Punch.

I adhered the stems to the cherries with little dabs of Liquid Glue.

Then I adhered the cherries to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On another piece of Basic White, I stamped the large Sweetest Cherries sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink and then fussy cut it with Paper Snips.

I popped the sentiment in place with Stampin’ Dimensionals, added some Blueberry Bushel gems from the Tinsel Gems Four-Pack….and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Sweetest Cherries sentiment in Blueberry Bushel on a Basic White panel.  In the corner I stamped a cherry and stem in Poppy Parade and Pecan Pie inks.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Poppy Parade mat, then a larger Pecan Pie mat and finally into my Thick Basic White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got another cherry and stem on the front…

…and more Glorious Gingham 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  It’s a summer picnic on a card!  I love the blue Glorious Gingham DSP (this is ON SALE for just a few more days!!) with the pops of red from those Sweetest Cherries, don’t you?  And – making big, juicy cherries is easy peasy with the Cherry Builder Punch! 😎

Finn Fan Fix

So – this weekend was spent in the garden.

Finally. 🤦‍♀️

Since it has gone completely amok – we decided to try a new growing technique – it’s a hydroponic way called the Kratky Method.

We had the tubs.  We had some insulation board for the tops.  We got the nutrient.  We got the net pots.  We got the clay balls.

And we bought 5 tomato plants and a basil.

And then we realized that…it would rain into the tubs, screwing up the water levels.

So…obvs – we needed a hoop house with a cover.  Duh?

But – it needed a frame to hold the tarp on, right? Of course.

And – again “Of course” –  it was hotter than…h – e – double hockey sticks, too. 🥵

But – finally – a covered hoop house emerged.

Sunday – we planted.

No.  No, I will NOT think about how much quicker, easier and…possibly cheaper it would have been to just go…buy…tomatoes! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

It DOES look totally pro, though, right? 😎😎😎

What does this have to do with Finn?

Nuthin’.

Cuz….being WAY smarter than his parents – HE spent the day inside in the AC.

He doesn’t even LIKE maters! 😳😳

  1. Cute card and design. BUT your hoop house and Finn are even cuter!! Hate it when the power goes out and all that stuff comes back on BUT it really is music to our ears, isn’t it?! It happens here more often than I like. What’s worse is brown outs! Love maters and basil…Caprese!!! Have a blessed day.

    • stampsnlingers

  2. Kate

Guess that works for Finn as long as the a/c does…glad storm no worse…hot is bad enough. 😒
    Nifty garden venue.

  3. Sweet card! Love the colors and design, the gingham is perfect! Awesome little greenhouse…and I’m with Finn. Inside in the AC is the place to be! 🙂
