Stampin’ Up! Simple, Single Stamp Saturday – Perfectly Wrapped

We did it, y’all!  We survived another work week and made it to the weekend!  I’m going to catch up on sleep and prep for another week of early work days!

As befits a quiet, restful weekend, my card today is quick and easy!  And you only need one stamp set and some paper.  And you can get that stamp set on 1 June – which is approximately…..tomorrow!

Not really.  But danged close to it – only a week and a half before the new 2016-2017 Annual Catalog goes live!  And in just one week – if I get just a couple more folks – the next Online Host Club will begin!!

So today’s card uses a stamp set called Perfectly Wrapped.  Add in some Cherry on Top and Everyday Chic DSP, and….this is what you get.  Take a look-see:

I played along with a couple of challenges for this one.  The first is a design challenge from Mojo Monday.  Challenge #448: Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Sassy Salutations and Timeless Textures Thanks

Happy Friday!  We made it – again!  All you have to do is make it thru this day and you get two days off!

Unless you don’t and then that means you’re on some weird work schedule.  If that’s you… I’m sorry.  I didn’t mean to get so excited about a 48 hour period that you have no reason to be excited about! 🙂

So today’s card is another special request.  Here was the criteria:

  • Thank you card to a Stepmother for a Mother’s Day gift
  • Likes blue
  • Likes frilly and fussy and busy
  • Likes Victorian things

As I sat at my desk the other night looking – slightly bleary-eyed – at my stamps and papers and punches…I finally came up with something to use as a starting point.  A piece of the Birthday Bouquet DSP – the one with the blue roses.  And I went from there.

This isn’t a clean and simple card – that wouldn’t have answered the mail at all!  And it occurs to me that I’ve been sort of inundating you with, what appear to be, 1000-step cards these past few days.  So, tomorrow’s card will be clean and simple.  I promise! 🙂

I finally settled on the pretty font in the Sassy Salutations set (retiring very very soon!) and the Timeless Textures stamp set.  And lots of embellishing.  Take a look-see:

Sassy Victorian Thank You 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I started with a plain piece of Whisper White card stock and I stamped the filigree image from Timeless Textures in Pool Party all over.  Then I used the edge image – in Sahara Sand – all the way around the edge of the panel.  Finally, I added several of the splotches image in Sahara Sand – stamping off once and then stamping multiple times without re-inking. Stampin’ Up! Don’t Swirly….Bee Punny for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop!  I spent a lot of time working on the title of my post – so, when you say it, kind of hum the “Don’t worry….be happy” tune, okay? 🙂

All us Happy Stampers Hoppers worked from a color challenge this week.

12938143_10209402800015255_2048233703467693424_n
Interesting color combo, huh?  The card I ended up with kind of …..evolved.  I did not have that instant “oh, this is what I should do with this challenge” revelation that I mentioned in a past post.  I just sort of….picked a stamp set – Pun Intended.  Then I decided I wanted to use the long, wavy die cut from the new Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.  And I just….started cutting those from Sahara Sand and Mint Macaron card stock and laying them on my grid paper to see what I could come up with.  Next thing I knew – I had my ah-ha moment and….take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Sitting Here Timeless Love Anniversary

Hey Mike Mike Mike Mike MIKE!!  Do you know what day it is?

Well, of course you do cuz I started the post out with Hey Mike Mike Mike Mike MIKE!

Yes – it’s Hawmp Day!  AND it’s also just about the half way point of my sojourn here in Savannah!  And I’m ready!  Not that I’m not enjoying my time here – the people here are fun and the food is certainly spectacular…

But – I am so looking forward to the end of the 4:30 alarm!  Or…a 5:30 alarm.  Or any alarm at all!!  I do just fine when I wake up cuz it’s light outside.  The alarm, though, has become my enemy.  I’m getting downright pissy with Siri when I tell her to turn the alarm on for the next day! 😉

Waaahhhh – whine much, Mary?!?

You came for a card and that’s what I’m fixin’ to give you!  Now – this card isn’t one of my quick and easy’s.  Nope – this one took some time and it’s completely my fault.  All was going along pretty fast – even given the masking I needed to do – and then I pulled out the Venetian Crochet Trim.  And got all creative with it.  But – I’m getting ahead of myself!  Be warned, though – the steps are easy, but there’s a few of them so, this post may be kinda long…. 😉

This was a special request from a friend who needed a 63rd wedding anniversary card.  I used the Large Number Framelits, and the new Sitting Here stamp set (she saw the last card I did with it and liked it!).  Timeless Love – a current stamp set – lent me the sentiment.  And I pulled out some of the pretty Affectionately Yours DSP. Take a look-see:

Sitting Here Timeless Love 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I started by tearing the edges off a panel of Very Vanilla card stock.  I also cut a heart from a piece of Very Vanilla, using the largest die in the new Sweet & Sassy Framelits.  Then I tore the edges all the way around the heart.  Using a tiny little bit of SNAIL, I lightly adhered the heart to the card front panel. Stampin’ Up! Basket for You Birthday Bouquet Thanks

Good morning, y’all!  Hope your week is going well wherever you may be.

Before we get to the card for today, I wanted to give you a a teaser on an upcoming Stampin’ Up! promotion for the month of June!  When you hold a place an order or hold a workshop in June – and it can be an online workshop! – you’ll have the chance to earn extra Stampin’ Rewards!  Hosts who have qualifying orders with $350 or more in sales during the promotion period will receive $35 in Extra Stampin’ Rewards for the order.  I’ve put all the details over on the Stampin’ Up! Promotions page – so take a gander at them and get ready!  It’s prefect timing with the kick-off of the new catalog! 🙂  And hey – join my Online Host Club – starting 1 June! – and perhaps your name will be drawn as the Host for June!  See the deets on the club here or down below!

I thought I’d share a fun little card with you today – it’s one that came into my head as soon as I saw the sketch challenge.  I love when that happens – it makes things go so quickly.  It’s especially nice when the idea in my head is actually something I can implement with paper and SU! tools.  Doesn’t always happen that way…. 😉

This one uses the new Squares Layering Framelits – which I love!  And I added some soon-to-leave us Birthday Bouquet DSP.  I pulled the pretty sentiment banner from the new Host set called Basket For You.  Take a look-see:

Here’s the sketch that inspired me – it’s from TGIF Challenges….TGIFC55: Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Layering Sweet & Sassy Love!

Happy Monday, y’all!  Sorry to start a post with an oxymoron!

The only trouble with a wonderful vegetable-mimicking weekend is that it ends.  Inevitably with an alarm going off at 4:30am! 🙁  But – it was truly a great 2 days….sleep….watch tv (I binge watched Nashville – can you even believe they’re cancelling that?!?  – and The Catch)….make card….repeat!

I hope that y’all had a great weekend and did something either wildly fun or hugely relaxing – anything that will hold you thru to the next 48 hours not-at-work!

My card for today is quick and easy – as befits a Monday morning.  I used some of the soon-to-be-released Sweet & Sassy Framelits, the Layering Love stamp set – and some Playful Palette DSP and Designer Washi Tape.  Take a look-see:

My design inspiration came from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #236: Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Wishes and Birthday Blooms!

21 May 16 Update!  I just found out that this card was selected as the Chic of the Week over at Just Us Girls!!  Want to thank Judy Woodland for selecting my card and send a shout out to all the wonderful cards that were submitted! 🙂

————-

Good morning!  As I write this, it’s Saturday evening here in the Veggie Patch.  Yep – I’m the vegetable and my 350 square foot hotel room is my little patch of heaven!  I’ve spent the day in my jammies, watched a lot of tv, made exactly one card (bad Mary, bad!), done a little napping, and….I had chicken dinner from The Olde Pink House! 🙂

No – they don’t deliver.  But, it turns out that I am richly blessed with friends.  The young engineer who I’ve been carpooling with these past few weeks came by and brought me lunch.  When I said yesterday that I figured I’d spend the day vegging in my room and pass on lunch – he said “that’s great – you deserve a day of vegging.”  So…that’s really sweet (unless it means I’m looking really haggard…. 🙂 ) of him.  I didn’t expect him to bring lunch for me.  What a lovely surprise that was – and surely reminds me that surrounding ourselves with people we care about – and who care about us – is one of the most important things in our lives.  And makes every day richer, huh?

Yep – all that from one chicken dinner.  I told you – it’s epic! 🙂

So – the one card I stirred myself to do today is one of the two I’ve got commissions to make.  The lady who asked me to make her a birthday card for her mother told me “she’s girly and likes frilly things…and her roses!”  Which made the stamp choice a complete no-brainer for me. Birthday Blooms boasts a spectacular rose image, so I combined it with some Birthday Bouquet DSP (probably the thing I’ll miss the most from the Occasions Catalog) and added a couple of sentiments from Watercolor Wishes.  Take a look-see:

I let the good folks over at Pals Paper Arts help me with the layout, using PPA #300 as inspiration. Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Perfectly Wrapped Swirly Bird!

Hey guys – it’s Saturday, thank the good Lord.  This has been a week.  A very long, tiresome and frequently frustrating-as-all-get-out week.

And I’m tired.  And I feel old.  My mother is always telling me I’m not old, and I suppose that’s true.  But today?  I feel old!

My plan for the weekend has shifted.  I’ve decided to skip lunch at The Olde Pink House – yes, that’s how tired I am!  I’m staying in and vegging.  And sleeping.

And making cards – cuz that’s fun – and I have “commissions” for two cards! 🙂  What do y’all think of that plan?  I think it’s possibly one of the best plans I’ve devised in a while!  I’ve got frozen dinners and leftover red beans and rice.  I’m set to hunker like a hermit in my room!

Glorious! 🙂

So.  Now that you’ve heard way more than you bargained for about my scintillating plans for the weekend, let me show you the card I made for today.  I think it’s a fun one!  I used some of the Swirly Bird stamp set and its coordinating Swirly Scribbles Framelits.  And my sentiment is from another new stamp set, called Perfectly Wrapped.  But I made it kind of…different.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Pun Intended Shutter Shaker Birthday!

It’s Finally Friday da da duh duh….sing that along with me!  I have big plans for this weekend.  Wanna hear ’em?  Okay – here we go…

Nothing.

Sleep.

Nada.

Sleep more.

Zilch.

Take a nap.

Oh – and maybe make some cards!

And no doubt there’s another lunch at The Olde Pink House in the works – I do believe we’ve started a tradition! 🙂

Sounds pretty perfect, doesn’t it?

So, for the last card share of the work week, I’ve got a cool one that combines a couple of fun card elements.  It starts with a Shutter Fold Card – see the Tutorial for that here.  Then I added a cool shaker element for the front.  I used the new-in-the-new-catalog Host set called Pun Intended.  Take a look-see:

If you’ve seen the Tutorial, you know that I use a belly-band to hold my Gate cards closed.  Here’s what it looks like on the inside…. Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Pop of Pink Paradise for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop!  We’ve got a fun sketch today and I’ve interpreted it in a….tropical way.  To match the return of the muggies here in Savannah!  And traffic.

Traffic isn’t tropical.  That was a little random association going on.  I thought muggy.  Then I got a brain picture of heat waves rising off of asphalt.  While sitting in traffic – which we do here every day on the way home.  Yukkk.  It’s as bad as Atlanta, I tells ya! 🙁

But – that’s not why we’re here.  We’re here to see some cards made by some talented ladies, who all started with this sketch:

12313635_1305624596130779_8167946357580835360_nI took a tiny bit of liberty with the sketch, but… the elements are there!  I used some of the new Pop of Pink Suite of products in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.  Some Pop of Paradise stamp set images, a little Pop of Pink DSP and some pretty Pop of Pink Washi Tape.  And I added a little bit of the Layering Love stamp set.  And a few surprises.  Take a look-see:

Pop of Pink Paradise 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

This was a card for a friend at work.  He’d gotten a Mother’s Day card from me.  Then a birthday card for his daughter.  Then he asked me for a “love” card for his fiancee!  This is a woman he knew way back when they were teenagers – then they kind of went their separate ways for 40 some odd years – and now they’ve found each other again.
