Stampin’ Up! Sassy Salutations and Timeless Textures Thanks

Happy Friday!  We made it – again!  All you have to do is make it thru this day and you get two days off!

Unless you don’t and then that means you’re on some weird work schedule.  If that’s you… I’m sorry.  I didn’t mean to get so excited about a 48 hour period that you have no reason to be excited about! 🙂

So today’s card is another special request.  Here was the criteria:

  • Thank you card to a Stepmother for a Mother’s Day gift
  • Likes blue
  • Likes frilly and fussy and busy
  • Likes Victorian things

As I sat at my desk the other night looking – slightly bleary-eyed – at my stamps and papers and punches…I finally came up with something to use as a starting point.  A piece of the Birthday Bouquet DSP – the one with the blue roses.  And I went from there.

This isn’t a clean and simple card – that wouldn’t have answered the mail at all!  And it occurs to me that I’ve been sort of inundating you with, what appear to be, 1000-step cards these past few days.  So, tomorrow’s card will be clean and simple.  I promise! 🙂

I finally settled on the pretty font in the Sassy Salutations set (retiring very very soon!) and the Timeless Textures stamp set.  And lots of embellishing.  Take a look-see:

Sassy Victorian Thank You 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I started with a plain piece of Whisper White card stock and I stamped the filigree image from Timeless Textures in Pool Party all over.  Then I used the edge image – in Sahara Sand – all the way around the edge of the panel.  Finally, I added several of the splotches image in Sahara Sand – stamping off once and then stamping multiple times without re-inking.

Sassy Victorian Thank You 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used a Sponge Dauber to lightly sponge all over the panel to “antique” it a little.  Then I tore some pieces of the Birthday Bouquet DSP into smallish pieces and sponged them with Sahara Sand to darken and antique them.  Then I used the Handheld Stapler to adhere them to my card front.

To help with the “lacey/frilly” – I used some of the soon-to-be-retired Sahara Sand 7/8″ Lace Trim and laid two lengths across the panel, “gift-wrapping” style, securing them in the back with scotch tape.

For the sentiment, I cut a Whisper White label with the next-to-largest die in the Lots of Labels Framelits set.  Then I ran it thru the Big Shot inside the new Affectionately Yours TIEF (available 1 June) to add the pretty embossed florals.  I added the Sahara Sand sentiment from Sassy Salutations and then lightly sponged the embossed flowers with Pool Party ink and the edges of the label with a little bit of Sahara Sand.

Sassy Victorian Thank You 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The mat is a second label – cut with the largest die in the set – stamped it all over with the Timeless Textures filigree in Pool Party.  Before I SNAILd the two pieces together, I used Glue Dots on the back of the white label and ran multiple loops of Gold Metallic Thread around and around.  Then I SNAILd the two pieces together and popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. 🙂

And then I got to decorating!  First I stuck a Very Vintage Designer Button in the top left of the label – over the crossed Sahara Sand Lace Trim pieces.  And I tied bow with the Lace Trim and adhered it with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  I added tiny little Pearl Basic Jewels to the flowers that I’d embossed on the sentiment label.

But that still wasn’t frilly enough for me!  I built a fun little flower with my Pansy Punch – I cut one from Sahara Sand (and then stamped it with the Timeless Textures filigree in Pool Party).  I cut a second pansy from Vellum card stock – and stamped it with the filigree!  And then I cut two tiny Itty Bitty Accent Punch pack flowers from Pool Party card stock.  Guess what I used on those?

Sassy Victorian Thank You 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Can’t guess?  How about the lace image in Grateful Bunch?  Yep – in Pool Party.  And the little Very Vanilla piece that you see peeking out is the smallest flower punch in the Blossom Bunch punch!  So my stack went: Sahara Sand flower – Vellum flower – Gold Metallic Thread loops – Very Vanilla Blossom Bunch Punch flower – two Itty Bitty Accent flowers – Pearl Basic Jewel!  I used Liquid Glue to adhere a little scrap of the Lace Trim and then the flower over the top of that.

The final addition is two little butterflies.  I stamped the butterfly from Grateful Bunch on Very Vanilla card stock – once in Pool Party and once in Blushing Bride.  Then I punched them with the Bitty Butterfly punch, touched up the “blank” spots with the matching Stampin’ Write Marker and adhered them with Glue Dots.  I added a little line of Pearl Basic Jewels to each one, too.

Sassy Victorian Thank You 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd the panel to a Pool Party Mat and the card front was done!

On the inside, I did more Timeless Textures filigrees in Pool Party, edge stamp in Sahara Sand and splotches in Sahara Sand on a Whisper White panel.  I sponged all over with Crumb Cake – my dauber accidentally left some little smudges of yellow, which added to the overall vintage look of the panel.

Sassy Victorian Thank You 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Adding some of the butterflies from Grateful Bunch in Pool Party seemed like a good idea – so I did.  And I also added a little more of the Sahara Sand 7/8″ Lace Trim.  I SNAILd the panel to a mat of Pool Party and then into my Blushing Bride card base.

I SNAILd the card front on – so as to not add any more thickness – and the card was done! 🙂

Sassy Victorian Thank You 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

My envelope is a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope to which I added some Timeless Textures filigree in Pool Party and a sweet little Pool Party butterfly from Grateful Bunch….

Sassy Victorian Thank You 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and then I added a liner made from Birthday Bouquet DSP, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelit.  Which is retiring.  I’ve mentioned that, yes?  And that I really really think you should buy it before it’s gone!? 😉

Sassy Victorian Thank You 9 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  A vintage-y, Victorian-y (at least – in my head!), blue-themed, frilly and girly Thank You card!  And I can tell you my friend who asked for it was very happy with it when I gave it to her – I even got a hug! 🙂 I hope that you guys like it as well!
