Stampin’ Up! Detailed Floral Phrases Thanks!

Hello Monday and welcome to another week of card-making fun!  Oh – and work.  Always work!  Is it really any wonder that’s a four-letter word?? 😉

I hope that you all got your hubbys/dads/grand-dads suitably feted yesterday – we went and had dinner with our friends and it was a lot of fun.  We got to meet their newest addition – Jax – who is a son of their lovely lab Luke.  I know he was named as a tribute to his grand-dad, Black Jack – so it’s nice that they’re on their third generation of a really nice line of dogs.  He’s a chip off the ole block, for sure – quiet and calm.  Smart as a whip! And, of course – he’s as cute as he can be!!

Jax

Now that you’re filled with “awwwwww” – let’s talk cards!  Today’s card looks like I spent hours.  And hours!  But that’s the beauty of this fun new Thinlit – the Detailed Floral Thinlits.  Just three pieces in the set and bing-badda-boom!  Instant wow!  And so many things you can do.  For this one today, I combined two of the dies with a sentiment from the coordinating stamp set called Floral Phrases – and added in a pretty paper design from the Serene Scenery DSP stack.  Take a look-see:

I started by running a panel of Pool Party card stock thru my Big Shot with two of the large dies from the Detailed Floral Thinlits set in place on the panel.  Now.  I don’t have the Precision Plate and I’m not sure that I’ll get it.  I will, however, be getting the new Big Shot Platform (item #142802, on page 190 of the new catalog).  It’s been re-designed (beyond the removal of the old tab system) to help the Big Shot cut evenly across the entire rolling surface. Stampin’ Up! Happy Father’s Day – Love, Swirly Bird!

Happy Father’s Day to all the father’s out there in blog-land.  Thank you for everything you do! 🙂

Today’s card is special-made for a friend of mine – he’s the father of the twins I talk about every once in a while in my posts.  And he’s a good man.  Who loves the ocean and sailing.  So…I tapped Swirly Bird and the coordinating Swirly Scribbles to make a nautical, sailing themed card.  The fun Labeler Alphabet set lent a hand, too.  Take a look-see:

Swirly Bird Father's Day 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I started with a piece of my fave Canson 90lb Cold-Pressed Watercolor paper and my Aqua Painter to make a quick sky and sea background.  Using Pacific Point ink, which I picked up from the ink pad lid with the Aqua Painter, I made a wash – darker at the top and getting a little lighter until I got down to where the “ocean” started.  Then I darkened it up again.  To the ocean, I also swept in some Bermuda Bay ink.  Then I hit it with my Heat Tool to quickly dry it. Stampin’ Up! Lovely Stitching on a Single Stamp Set Saturday!

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Saturday – it’s cooler here (sorry if you’re in one of those spots where it’s surface-of-the-sun hot! 🙁 ) – we’ve got a full load of horse feed (that’s a super warm-and-fuzzy for horse people!) – I bought and hung a new hummingbird feeder for the hummer that buzzes me every morning at the barn – we got the trellis up on my squash and green bean bed – and I got to spend some time making cards (and that time happened to correspond to a time I was feeling creative!).  So – life is good!

I’ve got a super quick and easy card for you today, that you can make with just one of the new stamp sets – no Big Shot, no heat embossing.  One of the first stamp sets that really caught my eye in the new catalog was this one – Lovely Stitching.  I finally got a chance to play with it some.  Take a look-see:

Lovely Stitching Any Day Card 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

This card evolved with the help of two challenges.  The first – CAS(E) This Sketch # 177  – drove the layout. Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Seaside Shore Jar of Love

UPDATE 28 Jun 16:  Hey folks – I just found out that this card was selected as a Hand Stamped Sentiments Artist Pick!  Whoo-hoo – and thanks to all the greta designers at HSS for selecting my card! 🙂  You can see the other winners right here!

Good Friday morning to y’all!  I hope your week has gone well and that you’ve got fun plans for the weekend!  Don’t be forgetting that Father’s Day is Sunday!

So this morning – Thursday morning that is! – I was sitting in the kitchen working on the computer and out of the corner of my eye I saw something sort of gallop by down below – right by the pond.  I glanced over and there was a small brown dog, kind of romping and stopping to smell the grass.  I jumped up and called Wayne – and we looked to see whose little dog was out there.

And then.  We realized.  It wasn’t a dog.  It was a FAWN!!  A teeny, tiny, spotty-bodied little fawn!  And just a little ways further up the pond was Mom.  And her TWIN!!  Oh.  My.  Goodness.

That’s them – the kids are getting a quick snack there.  That would be the world’s worst picture – hopefully we’ll see them again soon and I can get a better picture of them.  They’re just so stinkin’ cute!! 🙂

This is the first set of babies we’ve seen this year, so that was really exciting for us!

Anywho….card.  I made this fun little shaker card using the new Jar of Love stamp set and its coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits.  I added some Seaside Shore and a touch of Swirly Scribbles Thinlits die cuts.  Take a look-see:

This card managed to play along with three challenges.  The first inspired the layout, the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #241: Continue reading

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  This week is a color challenge – check it out!

June 16
I’ve discovered a crafter truism.  There’s nothing better than a whole bunch of new toys to play with.  And, there’s nothing worse than a whole bunch of new toys to play with!  I have so many goodies – and more coming! – that I want to play with, it’s just really hard narrowing it down.  But I managed to pick…three….for today’s card.  The main player is the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, with some Touches of Texture thrown in.  And some Brushwork Alphabet to round out the line-up.  All mixed with a little Playful Palette DSP.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Banners & Badges Labeler Thanks!

Mornin’, y’all – half way thru the week and the livin’ is easy!  My catalog shares are on their way to their new owners – I know they’re excited to get them!  My kitchen looks more like a kitchen and less like a craft paper and ribbon crime scene.  And I have a bunch of new toys tools to play with!

One of those new tools I got on Sunday from Miss Amy.  She’s always giving us fun new things – she’s the very bestest upline EVER!!  So – I used the new Banners & Badges stamp set, along with the Best Badge Punch (I got it free cuz of Amy – but you can get it bundled for 10% off!).  And I added in some of the new Labeler Alphabet stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Badges & Banners Thanks 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I played along with The Paper Players color challenge this week.  Challenge #299: Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Mixed Borders Thanks for the New Products Blog Hop

13335568_10209857162614036_4475767723246107547_n

Good morning – it’s time for another installment of the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop series.  This time around, we’re all doing projects made with products from the new 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.  That’s left it pretty wide open – so there’s no telling what surprises await you on this hop.  Be sure to check out all the blogs, okay? 🙂

I got a big ole box of new catalog goodies today!  Shoulda taken a picture I guess – that’s what all the good demonstrators do! – but I was just ripping into it like a kid at Christmas!!  So much fun!  I finally made myself stick all the embossing folders and framelits in their Stamp-N-Storage totes and the stamp sets into their “shelves”….and get busy!  I used the new Mixed Borders stamp set and the Petal Burst TIEF for this cute and quick Thank You note.  Take a look-see:

Mixed Borders Thanks 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I started with a Crumb Cake Note Card and Envelope, just cuz it’s so easy!  My blue accents are all Dapper Denim, so I cut a Dapper Denim mat and another piece of Crumb Cake.  I ran that piece thru the Big Shot in the new Petal Burst TIEF.  Then I went ahead and SNAILd it to the Dapper Denim mat. Stampin’ Up! Birthday Blooms & Floral Boutique Make a Fun Fold Card

Well – it’s happened again.  Monday!  I hope that you all had a great weekend and are ready and refreshed for the week to come.  If not – take heart, there’s only 4 days left.  This one doesn’t count.  It’s already started – you’re up – hopefully you’ve had your coffee – you may even already be at work.  So…it’s practically over!

Before I get to my card – which is one we made yesterday at Amy’s quarterly meeting – I thought you guys might like to see our latest new addition to the menagerie.  You might remember that we were adopted by a goose.  His name is Duck Duck.  Goose.  Yesterday, when we were taking him his evening crack (-ed corn) and the trimmed ends of a mess of green beans, I took his picture.  A few, actually.  He’s gotten pretty bold – he motors right up to the bank of the pond while we’re still there.  Here he is.

Duck Duck Collage    DUCK DUCK GOOSE

He’s quite handsome, yes?  And a little mouthy.  He’s got some definite ideas about dinner time and he’s not at all adverse to sharing them.  That second picture – looks pretty imperious, doesn’t he?

So.  The card.  This one was shared by Sue Prather.  She’s awfully talented – and this card shows it!  It’s a fun fold card, using the new Floral Boutique DSP and a pretty sentiment from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Floral Boutique Birthday Blooms 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

To make this card, we started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Pink Pirouette card stock, that’s scored and folded at 2 1/4″ and 6 1/2″ on the long side.  We used a retired punch for the circle, but I’m going to tell you how to do it with the oh-so-cool new Layering Circles Framelits.  Using a 2 5/8″ straight-sided circle Framelit, cut a hole in the card base, lining up the center of the framelit with the 2 1/4″ score line – and cheating it towards the side, as you can see in the picture.  While you’ve got that Framelit out, cut another circle of Pink Pirouette card stock. Stampin’ Up! Better Together Birthday Shutter Card

Good morning, y’all!  If you’ve come over from Amy Koender’s blog – welcome!  If you’re one of my regulars – welcome back! 🙂

Today’s card is another shutter card – I made it to share with our Amy’s Inkin’ Krew meeting later today.  About 7 of us will gather round, eat some good food from Panera Bread and have a little business meeting.  Then three of us will share a project and we’ll all put them together.  Jari Francis, Sue Prather and I will be “card-making-in-public”.  Which I sincerely hope won’t be like doing math in public! 😉

I’ve made a few shutter cards for you – and I’m going to be revising my tutorial.  I think I’ve found a little easier way to get the inside sentiment installed – I’ll share that in this post and then update the Tutorial.  Stand-by for that, okay?

This one today uses the beautiful new Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper and a new stamp set called Better Together.  Take a look-see:

Better Together Shutter Card 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I started by making a Basic Black gate card base – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and score and fold at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″.  Then I cut two pieces of the Floral Boutique paper and matted each of them on a piece of Night of Navy (it’s hard to see – but there really is a navy blue mat!).  I SNAILd them both to the front gate panels of the card. Stampin’ Up! Sitting Here with Bella and a Flourish!

Happy Saturday – I hope that you’re getting ready for a fun weekend!  We’re busily cutting and winding and sorting beautiful new designer papers and ribbon and twine and various fun embellishments to fill my Catalog Shares.  I say “we” because…well….

IMG_4055 IMG_4057

Please ignore my messy kitchen, okay?  The housekeeper has the decade off!  The point of the pictures is that my wonderful husband helped me cut paper and wind twine!  He needed to be the paper cutter cuz when I cut it – well, it wasn’t quite right….please check his laser focus on getting the measurements exactly right! 😉  But I did do the twine cutting – or we’d still be doing it – while he measured it to a nano-meter!!  Just in case NASA were to call and need exactly, precisely, 3 yards of Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine.

One just never knows, does one?

And yet – even with his help…we’ve still got a lot to cut and wind!  I’m still behind.  How is that possible, does anyone know?  I sure don’t!

But, I did have some time to make a card for y’all.  This is a request-card.  A couple weeks ago, I made a Get Well card for my friend to give.  She wanted a card with a little white dog on it – but I didn’t have that stamp set yet.  So we decided on a two-parter.  The first card – you can see it here – was a pretty, vintage-y card using the Basket For You Host stamp set.  This one uses Sitting Here – she’d asked for the swing – and the new Bella & Friends for the little dog image.  And I pulled some images and sentiments from the new Flourishing Phrases, too.  Take a look-see:

Flourishing Phrases Comfort & Healing 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I started by stamping a Dapper Denim card stock panel with the large flourish image in Flourishing Phrases, in Dapper Denim ink, and lightly sponged the edges in Dapper Denim.  That became my card front.  For the Very Vanilla art panel, I used masking to create my vignette.  So I stamped the cat image from Sitting Here in Soft Suede, then covered him with a mask that I’d made from a sticky note (just stamp the image on a sticky note and fussy cut it).  Over that I stamped the Sitting Here basket of flowers in Always Artichoke.  Then I covered that with a sticky note mask as well.  Finally, I stamped the swing image in Crumb Cake ink. Continue reading
