Happy half-way-thru-the-weekend, y’all! Are you staying cool? We’re trying. Wayne is working outside – thank goodness for air conditioned cabs on the equipment! But…the doggo’s and I are keeping our forays out into the heat to what is absolutely un-avoidable! Feeding the pony. Occasional short trips out for…well. You know. And that’s about it! It’s stupid hot!
My card today will make you think of cool forests and deep shadows – thanks to the gorgeous Moonlit Flora DSP. Some flitting GOLDEN butterflies – from the new Butterfly Flight Hot Foil bundle – are shimmery bits of light in the shadow. Take a look-see:
I started by adhering a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock on a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Barely Blush mat. Then I adhered a 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″ piece of Moonlit Flora DSP on top using Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to make the card front.
I wanted to see if I could Hot Foil on something other than cardstock so…I used the Stampin’ Hot Foil System to foil the five butterflies from the Butterfly Flight Hot Foil Die set in gold on a piece of Barely Blush Sunset Shimmer Vellum Specialty Paper.
It worked perfectly!! I was rather deliberately rough as I worked with the foiled pieces to see if it would peel or flake – and it didn’t! Whoo-hoo!
Using a Dark Crisp Cantaloupe and Dark Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blend – I colored part of each butterfly – on the front of the images. Then I cut them all out with the coordinating die in the set.
I lightly curled their wings with a Bone Folder and used Mini Glue Dots on the body section of each butterfly to adhere them to the card front.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped a Fern & Flora sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink. I stamped the frame image in Crisp Cantaloupe and cut it out with the coordinating die in the Fern & Flora die set.
I tied a bow from two lengths of Linen Thread and adhered it with a Mini Glue Dot.
Using double-stacked Black Stampin’ Dimensionals, I adhered the sentiment over the bow.
There are a couple of foliage dies in the Butterfly Flight Hot Foil Die set and I used them to cut out three leaves from iridescent Sunset Shimmer Vellum Specialty Paper.
I tucked them under the sentiment, securing them with Liquid Glue.
I added some Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels and the card front was done.
On the inside, I stamped a second Fern & Flora sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink on a Basic White panel. I stamped three little butterflies from Fern & Flora in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and used the Light & Dark Crisp Cantaloupe and Dark Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of my Mossy Meadow card base, adhered the card front with Liquid Glue and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Fern & Flora butterflies on the front…
…and more of the Moonlit Flora DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Wow! Those gold hot foiled butterflies from the Butterfly Flight Hot Foil Dies work beautifully with the Moonlit Flora DSP, don’t they!? And I love the foiling on the Sunset Shimmer Vellum Specialty Paper – it adds a bunch of amazing shine! Fern & Flora is…undoubtedly!…a favorite. And for very good reason!
I hope you like! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix
Yup. This is about the extent of Finn’s – AND MY! – activity level outside this weekend.
Addy appears not at ALL effected by the heat. She’s off doing…whatever it is she does outside. Eating grass. Snuffling up cobwebs.
Keeping one eye peeled for those pesky chimpmuncks.
Finn’ll be back on duty come winter!

Beautiful card! Happy to know the hot foil works so well on the vellum! The butterflies make me smile! TFS. I’m right there with Finn but say more power to Addy keeping the critters away.
She’s a beastie, alright! Thanks, Susan – I’m glad you liked the card! And the hot foil system is really fun! 🙂
Such a beautiful card!! Love the butterflies, perfect with that background paper! Poor Finn…I’m feeling much the same way. It’s icky outside!
Yes. Yes it is! Thanks, Amy! 🙂
