Stampin’ Up! CAS Wild Ferns and Perennial Lavender Thank You Card

Good morning and Happy Martin Luther King day.  Is it a holiday for you?  Seems sorta hit or miss – but I do know I can’t cash a check today and won’t be getting any mail.  Which is not to say that we won’t walk to the box a time or two – the Man just doesn’t “get” the concept of mail holidays! Walks are walks are walks. 🤷‍♀️

My card today is a clean and simple one – I know, it’s hard to believe.  I was shocked, too! It features the new Wild Ferns stamp set and dies, some tone-on-tone texture from the new Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder and some strips of gorgeous Painted Lavender DSP. Take a look-see:

The layout was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

And the color palette comes from the Color Throwdown challenge!

I started by stamping the hatch-mark image from the Wild Ferns set three times in Petal Pink ink near the middle of a Basic White panel.

Then I embossed the panel in the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to a Petal Pink mat with Liquid Glue.

Next up – I adhered three different strips of the Painted Lavender DSP to the card front with Liquid Glue.  What a great way to use up those little extra bits that inevitably result from cutting DSP for cards! 🤙😎

I stamped a Wild Ferns sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock and cut it out with the smallest label die in the Wild Ferns die set.

Using the next largest die – it’s the Medium rectangle in the die set – I cut out another design of the Perennial Lavender DSP.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the sentiment to its mat.  I also adhered a small Paper Butterfly Accent with Liquid Glue to the corner of the matted sentiment.

I popped the matted and butterflied sentiment onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finally, I added some Petal Pink & Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Wild Ferns sentiment in Pretty Peacock on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  Over the top, I stamped the cross-hatch image twice in stamped-off-once Petal Pink and a fern in Highland Heather.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Petal Pink mat and then into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the stamped-off-once Petal Pink hatch-marks and Highland Heather fern on the front…

…and more of the Perennial Lavender DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! Wow – I guess I haven’t used that Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder NEAR enough – I didn’t realize the wondrous amount of depth and texture it adds – it is just gorgeous!  Speaking of…the Perennial Lavender DSP is… simply perfect.  No words needed.  And to bring it all home – the Wild Ferns stamp set and dies – a great set for adding pretty, organic touches to your projects!

Finn Fan Fix

So – when you GENTLY suggest to The Man that MAYBE – PERHAPS – if he gnaws and chews and pulls on every part of EVERY toy he loves the mostest, then they might…have to go to surgery.  Or…WORSE! 😳😳

I think it’s…FAIRLY…clear how he feels about my well-meaning suggestion. 🤷‍♀️

You really can’t TELL kids anything.  They simply have to learn it on their own!

Oh, those eyes and what they say! Does Finn like to walk in the snow? I wonder if we’ll get any? Your creation is a perfect representation of the sketch. I ordered the EF but it is still in picking. I have plans for it! Stay warm and safe. Here’s to a blessed week!

Right? Who needs words!? Thank you so much, Karen – hope you get your folder soon! 🙂

  2. Beautiful use of the sketch and colors. I have an unexpected day off in Texas due to the weather. It’s soooooo cold and now there’s snow on the ground.

  3. Amy Koenders

So pretty Mary! Love the butterfly, perfect accent for your card! And it does seem like Finn might not take kindly to you suggestion about not chewing up his toys…most kids don’t listen very well. 😉

Thanks so much, Amy – and yes. They have to learn some things on their own! 🙂
