Stampin’ Up! Hey Chuck Something to Crow About Birthday Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning good morning!  How goes your weekend?  We had a really nice time last night at the birthday party – we sang and everything!  The birthday girl enjoyed the company and the food and the fun! 🙂

I made a birthday card for you today – NOT the one I gave to Lois – but one that I think is awfully fun!  We’ve had some great chicken stamp sets over the years – and they’ve always been “chicks”!  Well – NOW we have…Hey Chuck!  I paired him up with his skateboard – and some Les Shoppes DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s Sketch Saturday challenge.

I started with a piece of Les Shoppes DSP that I matted on Night of Navy for the card front.

I cut a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock and stamped the little cake image from Hey Chuck all over it in Calypso Coral ink.  Then I cut the top and bottom of the strip with two dies from the Gorgeously Made Die set.

I adhered the strip to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Using a Small Blending Brush, I added some Crushed Curry ink in a circle in the middle of another piece of Les Shoppes DSP.  Then I matted it on Night of Navy and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used the cute die in the Hey Chuck set to cut out two Night of Navy sunbursts and adhered them to the panel with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Hey Chuck chicken and the skateboard in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Then I colored the images.

– Light Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blend for the body and legs.

– Light Gray Granite Stampin’ Blend for the arms/feathers and eyelids.

– Light Copper Clay Stampin’ Blend for the top feathers, tail and dangly things by his beak.

– Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker for the dots on his shorts and his beak.

– Light Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blend for his shorts

– Light and Dark Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blend for the skateboard.

Then I cut them out with the coordinating Hey Chuck dies.

I adhered the chicken and skateboard to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the Hey Chuck sentiment in Night of Navy ink on a piece of Basic White – then cut it with the handy label die from Gorgeously Made.

I adhered the sentiment to the card front with Liquid Glue – covering the seam between the two die cut starbursts.

Then I added some Ombre Matte Decorative Dots and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the second sentiment from Hey Chuck in Night of Navy on a Basic White panel.  Above it, I stamped the little cake in Calypso Coral and colored it with the Light and Dark Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blend (cake and frosting), the Light Tahitian Tide Blend (candle) and the Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker (flame).

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Calypso Coral card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Hey Chuck birthday cake on the front…

…and more of the Les Shoppes DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  Les Shoppes is just one of the thirteen DSP packs on sale thru the end of the month – and I hope you can see that it’s fun AND versatile!  And – there’s NO doubt about the fun quotient of Hey Chuck, is there?  I mean…these chickens are way too cute!  Finally – the Gorgeously Made die set is very cool – I love the three dies that I used on this card and there’s still two more cool leaves dies you can use!!
