Stampin’ Up! Bitty Dino-Raursome Birthday Card!

Happy Happy….HAWWWMP Day!  Whoo-hoo!  On the downhill slide now, y’all! 🙂

Now – I have a terrible confession.  My card today is a card I MADE yesterday.  That’s not the confession – that’s pretty much the norm!

The confession is that the card I MADE yesterday is for my little Ginger-man who turned one.  Yesterday.  So…guess how late his card is going to be??

I know – he may not even notice.  But I notice and I feel bad. 🙁

So – I hope that the fun little Dino Days dudes on this card – and the fun colors from the Dinoroar DSP – will give him a grin and ease the sting of its late arrival.  Take a look-see:

I played again with this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge – I think I’ve FINALLY got it right! 😉

And I kept it simple as a result of The Paper Players Clean-and-Simple challenge.

I started with some of that fun Dinoroar DSP, matted on Pretty Peacock for the card front.

On a smaller panel of Whisper White, I stamped the dinosaur footprints image from the Dino Days stamp set many times across the panel – in Pretty Peacock, Crushed Curry, Pool Party and Old Olive.

I matted the panel on a piece of Pretty Peacock and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a strip of Whisper White, I stamped a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set in Pretty Peacock.  Then I bannerized the ends with my Paper Snips and edged the banner with my Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Write Marker.

I popped the sentiment on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the large…uhm…Brontosaurus?…in Pool Party on a Whisper White panel.  I gave him some Pretty Peacock spots.  Then I added a Dino Days sentiment in Old Olive.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pretty Peacock mat and into my Pool Party card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Pool Party and Pretty Peacock Brontosaurus on the front…

…and on the back I added more Dinoroar DSP to the envelope flap.  And then…I couldn’t help it.  I added another Dino Days dino – in Flirty Flamingo and Pretty Peacock – and a sentiment in Pretty Peacock.

Et Voila!  What a fun suite – don’t you think?  I love the sweet images and sentiments in the Dino Days stamp set – and the colorful patterns – be they dinosaurs or geometrics – in the Dinoroar DSP!  I hope you like!

  1. What a fun card. I especially like your design on the front and the DSP you chose…bright and cheerful for a 1 yr. old. Hummingbirds are amazing creatures and I totally get taking pic after pic. Have a great day.

Thanks much, Karen! I just thought it was so cool that a butterfly was eating at my hummingbird feeder! 🙂

  2. What a cute card! And yep, the bonus about sending a 1 year old a card…they won’t have any idea that it’s late. 🙂 Sweet butterfly on the bird feeder too!

Thanks, Amy – counting on that lack-of-remembering thing! And yes – the flutterby was cool! 🙂

  3. Faith Simpson

That dinosaur set is so cute…..I am at an age where I mostly use floral sets for sympathy…or get well….or thinking of you….cuz my friends are also ‘of an age’…..but I may just have to have the dino set anyway…….for the little great-grandsons….

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – I use florals myself – a LOT! But this one IS cute for the little humans that might be around! Thanks so much, Faith! 🙂

  4. Karen

Cute card Mary. The card maybe late, but it is the time and thought put into making a rememberable card. I am sure it will be much appreciated. Thank you for sharing. Also, I sure hope that little guy got himself something to drink.

    • stampsnlingers

I hope so, too – I don’t know if butterflies can eat from hummingbird feeders – but he sure stuck around for a while! Thanks very much, Karen! 🙂

  5. How fun is this card?! Love that the tracks on the front lead to that awesome dino inside! Thanks so much for joining us at Paper Players!

  6. Anne Marie Hile

Such an adorable card, Mary! I love the cheery colors and the dino inside is a fun surprise. Love it! Thanks so much for joining us this week at The Paper Players!
