Stampin’ Up! Frosted Royal Peacock for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!! Today’s Hop is a sketch challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone comes up with – I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop!

I decided to play with the gorgeously stunning colors and images in the Noble Peacock Suite – including the Royal Peacock stamp set, bundled Detailed Peacock Dies and the Noble Peacock Specialty DSP and Foil. Take a look-see:

And here’s the sketch that inspired us all today!

I started with a piece of the Old Olive Noble Peacock Foil and embossed it in the Beads & Baubles Embossing Folder – and that became the card front.

Using a piece of the Pretty Peacock paper in the Noble Peacock Specialty DSP, I took the edgelit die from the new Magnolia Memory Die set and cut the scalloped edge. I adhered that cut panel to the embossed card front with Liquid Glue.

I cut a few peacock feathers from Old Olive and Pretty Peacock foils using the Detailed Peacock Dies – then I adhered them ever-so-artistically onto the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment, which is actually two sentiment stamps from the Royal Peacock stamp set, I stamped each phrase in Old Olive on Whisper White. I pulled out the two-die label combination from the Frosted Bouquet Die set and cut the sentiment. I cut an Old Olive foil mat using the second die (which creates a perfectly-sized mat!) and adhered the sentiment to it with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the flower image from Royal Peacock twice in Pretty Peacock ink on Whisper White and colored them with my Light Old Olive Stampin’ Blend. Then I cut them with the matching die in the Detailed Peacock set. I popped them onto the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I popped the whole thing onto the card front with more Dimensionals.

I added some Noble Peacock Rhinestones to the flower centers and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Royal Peacock sentiment in Old Olive on Whisper White. Next to it I added a couple of flourishes in Pretty Peacock, coloring them with my Light Old Olive Blend.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Old Olive Noble Peacock foil mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a couple of Royal Peacock flourishes on the front…

…and a couple of the flower images on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! These colors in the Noble Peacock Suite are just so rich and gorgeous together, aren’t they? And I love the sentiments and images in the Royal Peacock stamp set. I am also a huge fan of the Detailed Peacock Die set – especially those wonderful feathers (which are stunning and very Peacock-y in the Foil!!). I hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Rome – Here We Come! And – A Thank You Ordering Special!

Happy Happy HAWWWMP Day!

Or as they day in Italy: felice giorno della gobba felice.

Well – that’s what Google Translate says, anyway!

Regardless – we’ll be on the way soon. First off is to take the Man to Puppy Tubs – we packed his gear – food, bones, a toy-that-smells-like-me, and Mr. Elephant (who had come back from the toy-hospital in the barn). We’ll drop him and then head to the airport around noon!

We’ll meet up with Amy and her family in Philadelphia then commence the 9+ hour flight to Rome where we’ll spend a few days before boarding the ship on Sunday!

Finn Fan Fix

Last weekend at Sam’s we bought a whole watermelon.

Almost as if we weren’t leaving…today!…on vacation.

So – I cut it up on Sunday with the plan that we’d eat it and then whatever was leftover we’d leave (with the chunks of the cut-up rind) in the outside fridge to be fed to the ladies while we were gone.

I even used a cookie scoop to make the melon balls. Cuz…melon tastes better as balls. That’s a real thing.

But folks…there weren’t enough melon-baller-cookie-scoops to help this thing!

It looked SO yumm-o while I was cutting it up. But…when I finally took a taste…

Nuthin’. Nada. Niente.

Tasted like red…niente.

What is more disappointing than a watermelon that hasn’t fulfilled its promise?

Not much.

But – the Man? Not so discerning.

Neither were the ladies!

Slurp slurp nom nom slurp.

Stampin’ Up! Rustic Retreat Birthday Card!

Well – good morning! We’re T-1 and counting!

I sort of have the laundry done. I mostly have cards ready. I might have pared my luggage down to one ball-gown and three tiaras….

Man, it’s hard. It’s so much easier to just throw one or five of everything in the suitcase(s) and then pick and choose once you get there!

But – I have resolved to go at least a little lighter.

So – I’m really going to get strict with myself. Obviously the DIAMOND tiara will make the cut – Diamonds go with everything!

I have a “one-of-my-favorite” cards today for you. It uses the new Rustic Retreat stamp set and some other fun goodies (most of which you’ve seen before). Take a look-see:

This one was quick to make- so hang tight! 🙂

I started by embossing a piece of Crumb Cake card stock in the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder and then matting it on Mossy Meadow for the card front.

Next up, I embossed another piece of Mossy Meadow – this time in the Corrugated embossing folder. I tore it sort of ragged-ed-ly down to size and adhered it to the card front with SNAIL. Then I added some decorative staples in the corners (using a non-SU! handheld stapler!).

I cut two lengths of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and used more SNAIL to adhere them to the Corrugated panel.

For the sentiment, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment from Rustic Retreat on a piece of Crumb Cake card stock. Over the top, in stamped-off-once Mossy Meadow, I stamped the branches from Rustic Retreat a few times. Then I cut it with a Stitched Nested Label Die.

I popped the sentiment onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

With Glue Dots, I adhered a Bird Ballad Trinket (one of the leaves), tucking it under the sentiment. Then I tied a double-length bow from Mossy Meadow Linen Thread (in the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Pack) and adhered it with a Glue Dot. And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I added the sentiment from Rustic Retreat in Early Espresso to a Crumb Cake mat. Over the top, I added a line of pine trees in stamped-off-twice Mossy Meadow.

I used Liquid Glue (and a few decorative staples!) to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and then into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got Mossy Meadow branches across the front…

…and the line of pine trees on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! Not gonna fib-ya, folks – I LOVE how this card turned out! Torn edges – crooked panels – woodsy accents from the Rustic Retreat stamp set. Yep – this is smack in the dead-center of my wheelhouse. I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

There is something in the woods across the pond.

He stood there for the longest time – absolutely focused.

Finally, he decided it was probably nothing (he was right – it was just one of our mama deer doing her mama-deer thing)…

He was still keeping an eye out – JIC. But…from a much lower DEFCON level.

But – this DEFCON posture made some paw-poofs stick out.

So I took yet another picture of his paws.

Cuz…I find them to be just about his cutest thing! 🙂
