Stampin’ Up! Grateful Bunch Thanks for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all – it’s Thursday and that means it’s Happy Stamper Blog Hop Day! Whether you came from Shelagh’s blog or direct – I hope that you’ll make your way thru all the Blog Hoppin’ Ladies today!

We worked a color challenge this week – one that encompasses colors smack dab in the middle of my wheelhouse! Here’s the deal-y-o:

Uhm – yea! My colors, for sure!

So, since I was already in my comfort zone, I just let myself roll with it, and used an Occasions catalog set that has absolutely become one of my favorite favorite sets!! The Grateful Bunch bundle – in which I got the Grateful Bunch stamp set and the matching Blossom Bunch Punch. Now, if you’ve been following along, you know I made the mistake of not buying the bundle from the git-go! So, I had to buy the punch after the fact – a purchase I’m really happy with! If you’ve not gotten the bundle – get it. If you did the same as I did – thinking you wouldn’t want/need the punch! – check the Weekly Deals. The Blossom Bunch Punch is there! 🙂

I combined them with some Wildflower Fields DSP – from the Sale-a-Bration Flyer, and here’s what I came up with this week. Take a look-see:

My card today is a reprise of a layout I did last week – even uses the same framelits, the awesome Botanical Builder. Stampin’ Up! Hello You! Super Bowl 50….

Well, hey – it’s half time in the Super Bowl! I’ve re-discovered the problem with watching the Super Bowl in a hotel room. Actually, it’s only a problem if you want to watch both the game and the commercials. Do you know what it is? Here’s a hint:

There’s no DVR.

Now do you know?

There’s not a good time to “leave the room” if you catch my drift!

Yep – there’s not a good time to go to the bathroom! I mean – really. What if I go and miss the play of the game? I can’t rewind it to see it. Or what if I get back and have already missed the only really awesome commercial of the day?

Fortunately – I care nothing for Cold Play, Bruno Mars or Beyonce. So half-time is fair game while they were playing!

I decided before kick-off that I want Peyton Manning to hit his 200th game (he’d be the first to ever do that!) and (likely) go out of the game with another SB win under his belt. It’s a pretty close – defensive – game at this point. We’ll see how that works out. I might have jinxed them by wanting them to win….

So far, there’s only been one really good commercial. I’d tell you whose it was – but….all I could see was Ryan Reynolds as every male part in the commercial. I think it was for a car. I loved it – but I suspect many women will only remember Ryan Reynolds – and have no clue which car they should buy! Marketing genius or marketing fail? You be the judge!

Game back on. Murmur amongst yourselves whilst I watch….

Stampin’ Up! Bloomin’ Heart Forever

Good 50th-Super-Bowl-morning! I’ll make the assumption that you’re prepping your Game Day goodies for all the fans in your house. I mean – isn’t that what everyone is doing? I don’t watch a lot of football, it’s true. But I almost never miss the Super Bowl. I admit to liking the commercials – but I also enjoy the game itself. I seldom care much one way or the other who wins – although I’ve always picked someone to root for by half-time! – but this year, with the Broncos playing, I feel a familial obligation to root for the them. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like Tom Brady, though. They’re both really super QB’s – so I’m thinkin’ it’s gonna to be a rockin’ game! 🙂

This is a quick card – it looks harder by far than it is. And aren’t those the very best kind? It uses the gorgeous new Bloomin’ Heart Bundle, a couple of sentiments from the First Sight stamp set and some cardstock. Easy. Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Hello, Little Sunshine!

Stampin’ Up! Love You, Sew Let’s Paint the Town!

Good Friday, to you all! Today, I have a cautionary tale to share with you. It’s a story about a girl. Okay – a semi-old woman. A story about a semi-old woman, with an age-old problem. I call it….The Day Mary Had Get-The-Card-Done-itis!

A little background info is in order. In the world of aviation, those who fly airplanes (AKA pilots), if they do so long enough, will – one day or another – encounter a situation that is 1) beyond their limits as pilots to deal with, 2) exceeds the capabilities of their aircraft or 3) is just too dangerous to go thru/over/around. Now most of the time (I’d even say 99.9% of the time!), the prudent pilot will return from whence they came or land immediately. Choosing to become one of the “old pilots” (perhaps you’ve heard the saying….there are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots?).

But sometimes, and it happens to all of us….we make a bad decision. The kid’s birthday party is tonight. It’s my anniversary and the wife/husband is going to be sooooo mad if I don’t get there. We’re leaving on vacation tomorrow and I have to pack the car. We decide that we “must” get home, no matter what.

Get-Home-Itis.

If we’re lucky – or the Big Guy is flying right seat – we make it thru in spite of ourselves. If not…well….you know.

Now – what I experienced today had zero, zilch, nada by way of potentially fatal outcomes. Which is good. Cuz I was seriously afflicted with the “-itis”. The Must-Get-the-Card-Done-itis “-itis”. Pile on to that the fact that I’m tired and…well.

And, just to be completely clear – I didn’t need this card to be done today. I already have two cards ready to go in the line-up, so today (Friday) was covered. Just sayin’.

So in this post, I’m going to share some tips, and some “off-ramps” – so perhaps you’ll recognize when you’ve been afflicted with the “-itis” and will turn back and land.

I’d had an idea in my head for a bit about a card using the fun paintbrush stamp in the Love You Sew Hostess Set from the Annual Catalog. So when I saw the CAS(E) This Sketch #158, I knew that it was time to implement my plan!

I woke up a little later than my norm – the late nights are starting to tell on me! Talked with Wayne on the phone for a bit, watched a little tv to get fully awake. Thought I’d leave a little early and make a quick run to Target for some groceries and stuff. You know – domestic Goddess stuff! Then I thought – hey, I’ve got an hour, I’ll just knock out a card. 🙂 Here’s where the ensuing twisty road got me. Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! In a Watercolor Meadow for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

We’re all working off a fun sketch this week – built for us by our wonderful Stampin’ Up! Uplines – Sandi MacIver and Amy Koenders. Sandi’s not joining us on the Blog Hop for a few weeks – she’s working thru some medical issues and needs to take some time to heal. Please be sending good positive thoughts her way, okay?

Here’s where we all started – I know that we’re all going to end up in very different places! 🙂
I had a background in my head – Michelle English, one of the talented ladies in our group, showed us a card she’d done using this technique and I wanted to try it. So that’s where I started. Once I had the background (read: I knew I could do it and not have it look like a muddy mess!), I started to think how to incorporate it into my card. I thought the In the Meadow stamp set images would look beautiful on the background, so that’s where I headed. Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Botanical Builder Sunburst Sayings Thanks!

Hey there, y’all! It’s the next to last hauwmp day that I’ll be coming to you from Arizona! Yep – the countdown is on. Well, I’ve been counting down since I got here, but we’re practically to single digits now! 🙂

My only regret will be leaving my little stamping spot that I’ve set up in my hotel. It’s really been quite awesome! If you missed the post where I showed you those pictures, check it out here! (Just don’t get excited by the words Blog Candy – that contest is over. Sorry! 🙁 )

The card I made to share with you today uses the cool Botanical Builders Framelits from the Occasions catalog. Last weekend, my new friend Carole bought the great Botanical Blooms bundle (hard not to when you realize that you get the Stamps and the Framelits and the coordinating DSP! And that it instantly earns you a free SAB item!) and asked if we could do a card using it this Saturday when she and Kelly come back to stamp some more. So… here’s what we’re going to make.
