Stampin’ Up! Hello You! Super Bowl 50….

Well, hey – it’s half time in the Super Bowl!  I’ve re-discovered the problem with watching the Super Bowl in a hotel room.  Actually, it’s only a problem if you want to watch both the game and the commercials.  Do you know what it is?  Here’s a hint:

There’s no DVR.

Now do you know?

There’s not a good time to “leave the room” if you catch my drift!

Yep – there’s not a good time to go to the bathroom!  I mean – really.  What if I go and miss the play of the game?  I can’t rewind it to see it.  Or what if I get back and have already missed the only really awesome commercial of the day?

Fortunately – I care nothing for Cold Play, Bruno Mars or Beyonce.  So half-time is fair game while they were playing!

I decided before kick-off that I want Peyton Manning to hit his 200th game (he’d be the first to ever do that!) and (likely) go out of the game with another SB win under his belt.  It’s a pretty close – defensive – game at this point.  We’ll see how that works out.  I might have jinxed them by wanting them to win….

So far, there’s only been one really good commercial.  I’d tell you whose it was – but….all I could see was Ryan Reynolds as every male part in the commercial.  I think it was for a car.  I loved it – but I suspect many women will only remember Ryan Reynolds – and have no clue which car they should buy!  Marketing genius or marketing fail?  You be the judge!

Game back on.  Murmur amongst yourselves whilst I watch….

My card for today uses the pretty Birthday Bouquet DSP and my new Greetings Thinlits (these are in the Annual Catalog).  I also tapped a tiny sentiment from the SAB stamp set called What I Love.  Take a look-see:

Hello You 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

My layout was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches #122.  Go over and check them out, okay?

FMS 222 Sketch

I started by just SNAILing a Whisper White panel onto a mat of Watermelon Wonder.  Then I laid two strips of Watermelon Wonder Washi Tape (from the 2015-2017 In Color Designer Washi Tape – thanks, Amy!) across the card front.  The center focal point is a piece of Birthday Bouquest DSP, SNAILd on Watermelon Wonder, and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Hello You! 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The sentiments are cut with the fun Greetings Thinlits – I just got these and I already love them!  You get three sentiments: Thanks, Hello and Cheers – and they’re small and done in a really pretty font.  You should definitely get them if you don’t have them already!

I cut two each in Mossy Meadow and Watermelon Wonder.  Using my Fine-Tip Glue Pen, I adhered them onto the center panel – overlapping and offsetting them slightly.

Hello You! 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The final piece was to add a few little hearts – which I punched out of Watermelon Wonder with my Hearts Border Punch – adhered with little dabs of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

Hello You! 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

LOL – what a wonderful picture I took of this card angle.  Looks like…it’s…fixin’…to….slide…….. 🙂

For the inside, I used that last Mossy Meadow Greetings Thinlit cut out, adhering it with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  Underneath it, I stamped the little sentiment from the SAB set called What I Love, in Watermelon Wonder.

Hello You! 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I ran another piece of the Watermelon Wonder Washi Tap across the bottom, and then punched one set of the Hearts Border Punch across the top.  That was going to do it – but then I got the bright idea to

OMG.  I think I just saw the best commercial – a whole herd of Dachshunds (aka “weiner dogs”) wearing hot dog/bun costumes racing across a field towards a group of folks wearing Ketchup and Mustard costumes.  Musical score – I Can’t Live.  LOL

…sorry.  I got the bright idea to glue the white punched out hearts to the Washi Tape.  And then it seemed like a good idea to alternate them with Watermelon Wonder hearts.  And so I did – adhering them all with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Then I SNAILd the panel onto a Watermelon Wonder mat and then into my Whisper White card base.  I popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and that did it for the card.

Hello You 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

On the Whisper White Medium Envelope, I used my Watermelon Wonder Stampin’ Write Marker to color in several hearts – using the punched out piece as a “stencil”….

Hello You! 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and added a liner from more of the Birthday Bouquet DSP, cutting it with my Envelope Liner Framelits.

Hello You! 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  A simple and clean card – I’d consider it a layered Clean and Simple card – that could be good for almost any day you just want to say hello to someone you kinda like! 🙂

Only a week left for the FREE Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush – so don’t miss out!

P.P.S – the Budweiser commercial with Helen Mirren.  Yes! 🙂

  1. Awesome card Mary! I love that Washi Tape tucked under your focal panel. The colors and the die cut sentiment are perfect. Okay, I missed the first quarter so I didn’t see the Ryan Reynolds commercial…off to google search it right now! 😉

  2. Thanks, Amy! And yes – you’ve got to see it! 🙂

  3. Fun post!! Yay Broncos! (I’m in Denver). I think the commercials were a bust. I agree with your assessment – I remember parts of a variety of commercials, but couldn’t tell you what they were for. Your card is fabulous – lots of special touches that really make it stand out. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

Card is good. Great half time inspiration.

My enthusiasm is with the Broncs today! The defense got us there and it was theirs to win. And win they did!!!

Commercials: Bud with Helen win hands down, although I missed the usual hitch.. The shorty was too short in time and in horses. .And the sheep were wonderful. Ho hum all the rest this year.

  5. Yep – Helen rocked it! Thanks, Mom! 🙂
