Stampin’ Up! Nature’s Harvest on Timeworn Black!

Good Tuesday to you all!  Hope the week is going well – and if you were impacted by Ida – that it was as minimal as possible.  We’re looking for rain today – hard to say how much.  But we’re ready!  By which I mean I have a LOT of towels by the back door – cuz the Finn-ster LOVES running around in the rain! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

My card today is one I made while crafting with friends on my Zoom the Craftroom yesterday – which was fun!  I used the Nature’s Harvest bundle (which you can get for FREE if you join the team during Sale-a-Bration!) with the Timeworn 3D Embossing Folder.  Take a look-see:

I picked the Nature’s Harvest set to work with based on the Just Add Ink challenge.

I started with a piece of Basic Black cardstock that I embossed in the Timeworn 3D Embossing Folder and matted on Bumble Bee for the card front.

Next I used my Blending Brushes to add REALLY un-blended splotches of Pumpkin Pie and Cinnamon Cider ink on pieces of Cinnamon Cider and Bumble Bee card stock. Serious – it looked bad! 😉

But then, I used the dies in the Harvest Die set (bundled with the Nature’s Harvest stamp set) to cut a wildflower and grasses from the blotchy Bumble Bee piece and a single coneflower from the blotchy Cinnamon Cider panel.  And all of a sudden – those blotchy panels became beautiful!

I also cut two “branches” from some gorgeous Gold Shimmer Vellum.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the flowers and grasses and branches to the card front.

I used my Dark Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ Blend to color a pretty long length of Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon (this is a REALLY cool thing you can do – and it means you can have ALMOST any color of ribbon you need!).

I looped the ribbon four times around my hand and then used a piece of Basic Black twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack to tie a bow around the middle – making a bow-on-top-of-a-sort-of-double-loop-bow bow!

I adhered the bow in place with Liquid Glue.

Using my Stamparatus, I stamped the Nature’s Harvest sentiment in Cinnamon Cider on Bumble Bee and cut it with the longer label die in the Harvest Die set.

I used double-stacked Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment label over the ribbon, added some Bumble Bee Matte Decorative Dots and the card front was done.

On the inside, I inked the splotch image from Nature’s Harvest with Pumpkin Pie ink, stamped it off once on scrap paper and then stamped it in the corner of a Very Vanilla panel.  I stamped the small floral from the set over the top in Cinnamon Cider.

I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to a Bumble Bee mat and into my Cinnamon Cider card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the splotch and floral on the front…

…and again on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I am SO grateful to the Just Add Ink designers for giving me another reason to pull out one of my favorite things – the Nature’s Harvest Bundle!  I love the Harvest Dies so much – and the sentiments in the stamp set are wonderful!  The gorgeous Timeworn 3D Embossing Folder comes thru again – adding perfect texture behind the die cuts.  And…don’t they just…GLOW against their black backdrop!?

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Sometimes when horses sleep in stalls and lay down to rest, they’ll roll over too close to the stall wall.  Most of the time, they can extricate themselves and get back up.

But – sometimes – they don’t.  They’re stuck until a human comes to help them back up.

We call that…getting “cast”.

And when a 1000 pound horse does it – it’s scary.  They can panic and injure themselves.  And getting them up takes some tact and skill to get them out of the mess they got themselves into.

When an 85 pound Aussie sleeps too close to the side of the kennel….

…it looks a LOT like he’s “cast”.

But…

….Nope.  Just sleepin’ here, Mom.  Not ready to get up, either, so….move along! 😉

Stampin’ Up! Nature’s Positive Thoughts Sympathy

Happy Happy Hawwwmp Day!  Hope your week is going well.  All is good here – we’re soggy but…it’s okay.  It’s warm for a minute, so…there’s that! 🙂

I have a card today that is going to end up being sent as a sympathy card, I believe.  It doesn’t overtly refer to “sympathy” but… I think it’s actually appropriate.  It uses one of my favorite sets in the 2020 Jan – Jun Mini Catalog – the Positive Thoughts stamp set.  I took advantage of the new Nature’s Thoughts Dies, too, that cut all those wonderful shapes out for me using my die cutting machine!  You’ll also see some of the new So Very Vellum Specialty DSP (a new freebie in the Sale-A-Bration Second Release flyer).  Take a look-see:

I started this one with a card-front size piece of Whisper White and an identically sized piece of Soft Sea Foam vellum from the new So Very Vellum Speicalty DSP (coming to you on 3 Mar in the SAB second release).  I used Glue Dots to adhere the vellum to the card stock – placing them where I knew they’d be hidden by decorations on the card front.  Then I matted the whole thing on So Saffron to make the card front.

I used the large stitched-edge rectangle die in the Nature’s Thoughts Die Set to cut a Whisper White panel, which I adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a seperate piece of Whisper White, I stamped two Positive Thoughts leaves images – one in So Saffron and the second in Soft Sea Foam.  I also stamped a flower in Petal Pink.  All three are cut with their matching dies in Nature’s Thoughts.

I adhered the leaves and flower to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Next up, I cut some little leaves (also in the Nature’s Thoughts die set) from the same Soft Sea Foam So Very Vellum paper, and adhered them as well.

The sentiment, from Positive Thoughts, is stamped in Soft Suede on a strip of Soft Sea Foam card stock that I bannerized with my Paper Snips.  Then I adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut three little Nature’s Thoughts butterflies from So Saffron and adhered them with Liquid Glue.

Butterfly Garden Sympathy

In my last post, I mentioned there were several items in my recent “investment” box that I’d been anxious to play with.  Well, two of those items are featured in today’s share.  Both of them are background stamps – the Corner Garden and the Hardwood stamp.  The Corner Garden stamp – for me – just seems to beg to be paired with the Hardwood Stamp.  My brain easily imagines the two of them together – so that’s what I did today.  Take a look-see:

GArden Sympathy Outside 2 watermarked

I started by inking the Hardwood Stamp with Smoky Slate ink.  Then, I laid my Smoky Slate mat on top of the stamp, and carefully rubbed all over the card stock – insuring that I got all areas of the stamp.  That’s usually the easiest way to deal with the background stamps – they’re so big that they can be a little unwieldy to stamp in the “regular” fashion – but doing it this way works every time!  I stamped the Corner Garden onto my Vellum Card Stock in the same manner, this time using Versamark Ink.  I sprinkled it with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  And then I spent some time playing with my Stampin’ Write Markers.  The heat embossed outlines made it easy to flood the areas with color – and any boo-boos wiped right off with a paper towel!

I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to ensure my sentiment would be exactly where I wanted it, and stamped it in Memento Black ink.  That sentiment is from the retiring Bloom with Hope hostess set (yes, another fun thing in my last box!).  I love this set – the flowers are wonderful and the sentiments are lovely and written in a beautiful font!  Once the ink was very dry (I helped it a little with the Heat Tool), I edged the Vellum with my Blackberry Bliss marker and then I spread very tiny amounts of Liquid Multipurpose Glue on the back behind the flowers.  I stuck the vellum art piece onto the hardwood-printed mat, and then added a couple of Glue Dots into the top right hand corner – where I decided I’d stick a butterfly (as art and as a cover-up!).  By this time, my design had evolved in my head and was telling me this needed to be a spring garden with flutter-bys fluttering all around in it!

I stamped the Corner Garden onto another piece of vellum, this time in Blackberry Bliss.  Then I cut out the medium size butterfly from the Butterfly Basics Bundle (still available with the special offer thru the end of the month!) from the stamped vellum and from a piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock.  I stuck the two pieces together with a few glue dots just under the body segment of the butterfly.  Adding some pearls finished it off and hid the glue dots, too.  I luvs me some pearls! 🙂

Garden Sympathy close-up watermarked

I punched out some Bitty Butterflies with my….Bitty Butterfly Punch….from the stamped vellum and a bit more Blackberry Bliss CS.  They were attached together in the same fashion as their larger compatriot, and adhered around the card with little dabs of Multi-purpose Liquid Glue.  I just wanted it to look like they were flittering and fluttering about around a spring garden. I kind of think I achieved that!  I popped the finished card front onto my Blackberry Bliss card base, and the front was done!

Garden Sympathy Outside 5 watermarked

The inside started with some more of the Smoky Slate Card Stock, and this time I used the flowers from the Bloom with Hope set.  I colored the flowers and the stem separately with my Blackberry Bliss and Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Write Markers and then stamped twice without re-inking, re-inked and stamped a third time.  The sentiment, from the same set, is in Blackberry Bliss.  And….done!

Garden Sympathy Inside 2 watermarked

Obviously, it would be wonderful to never NEED a sympathy card, but….it’s darned handy to have one in your stash should the need arise.  I’m quite pleased with how this one turned out – and I’m in love with these stamp sets! I’d highly recommend grabbing the Bloom with Hope set before it’s gone. And – don’t forget that you can still get the Butterfly Basics – either the bundle or the thinlits by themselves – thru the end of the month, at a special price and with a fun SAB item (when you buy the bundle)!

1. Get the Butterflies Thinlits at a 15 percent discount–just $21.20! (so if you already have the Butterfly Basics stamp set, you’ll be able to complete the bundle at a great discount!

Thoughts and Prayers Sympathy Card

When I built this card to share with you today, I meant it as a “hip pocket” card.  You know – one that you have ready – in your hip pocket so to speak – in case a need arises.  Well, a need arose much more quickly than I anticipated.  My good friends back in Atlanta had to put their lab to sleep a couple of weeks back.  She’d been with them her whole life and it was a big loss for them.  I just found out at the beginning of the week – my friend wanted to spare me the upset on top of the stress of the job out here in California.  I sent this card right away – and hope that it brought them some comfort.

Thinking of You Sympathy Outside 1 watermarkedThis card started with some plain vellum card stock, which I background stamped with the Something Lacy stamp (a favorite of mine!).  One piece was done with white ink and the other in Sahara Sand.  I let the pieces dry for several days – it takes a while.  But, once it was “done”, the ink adheres nicely!  I inked up the tree from the Thoughts and Prayers set withNight of Navy and stamped it onto the Sahara Sand piece.  Then did the same with the sentiment.  And let both of THOSE dry for a while.

I did a little coloring with my Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Write Markers on the white background.  You can color right on the front of the vellum (versus coloring the back of the preprinted vellum in the new SAB Sheer Perfection Designer Stack).  I didn’t add any color to the other, Sahara Sand, piece.  I edged both pieces with Night of Navy ink – just to finish them off a little.

I cut two mats from Sahara Sand Card Stock, sponged both those edges with more Night of Navy, and then used Glue Dots to adhere the vellum to the mats.  I tried to get the glue dots under inked portions of the paper – and kept them as flat as possible so they wouldn’t show thru.

Thinkin of You Sympathy Outside 2 watermarked
I wrapped a length of Sahara Sand lace trim around the larger mat, taping it on the back.  Then I popped the mat onto my Night of Navy card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.   And gave the top mat the same treatment.  About the time I got the card all ready for final embellishment, I got my new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (Thanks, Amy Koenders!) in the mail.  The little flower punch was exactly right – so I put a few of them on the tree with glue dots and then added some small pearls.  Done – and I love it! 🙂

For the inside, I used some more of the Sahara Sand card stock, sponged with Night of Navy.  I stamped the Thoughts and Prayers sentiment and the flowery flourish in Night of Navy as well.  Thinking of You Sympathy inside 1 watermarkedAt that point, I was thinking I’d wait until I got my last SU order in – with another pack of the Pearl Basic Jewels in it – because I wanted to accent the inside flowers with the teensy little pearls.  I’d done a silly thing, people.  I’d let myself run out of the tiniest pearls in the package.  And those were the only ones that would do for this card.  Don’t be like me – order early.  Order 2 or 3 packages at a time!! 🙂  Anyway – my need to send the card came up much faster than my order was going to arrive – so it went out as is.  Which I still like a lot.  And, hey – when I started to put the pearls on I might have changed my mind anyway!

So – I love this stamp set.  The sentiments are nice and the images are pretty and serene.  You can go spiritual or not-so-much.  Definitely consider adding it to your tool box – if you haven’t already!

As of today, 19 Mar 15 – there are only 12 days left to get in on Sale-A-Bration!  We’ve added some products that are now available as freebies:

New 17 Mar 15 SAB Items

BLENDABILITIES DISCONTINUED

You’ve been reading that the Blendies have been on ordering hold, due to quality issues in manufacturing. Due to the nature of the defect, Stampin’ Up! has concluded that difficulties, dissatisfaction, and product returns will only become more widespread. The manufacturer is unable to correct the problem in a manner the company is certain would meet our high quality standards and provide us with a stable, long-term solution. Therefore, after a great deal of deliberation and in order to prevent further disappointment, the Blendabilities product line has been discontinued. If you have Blendabilities that you feel are defective, please let me know and I’ll guide you through what to do next. Hopefully SU will find a new source for alcohol markers – you’ll know just as soon as I do!
