Good morning good morning! Hope your weekend is going well! We got the errands done yesterday and got the garden at least a little less jungle-y! And boy have we got tomatoes growing! BooYAH!!! 🎉🎉
And – I made a card! And it’s one I love love love. I love faux step cards so…when I found a TRIPLE faux step – I knew I had to make it! I saw it on Pinterest from Laurie at Stamp With Laurie (thank you!). I did a few modifications of a couple of panel sizes and then decorated mine with the amazing and gorgeous Moonlit Flora DSP and coordinating Fern & Flora bundle to make a super cool thank you card. Take a look-see:
The layout you see on the center panel was inspired by the sketch challenge over at Try a Sketch on Tuesday!
I started with a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Secret Sea cardstock that, using my Paper Trimmer, I scored along the long side at 3″, 6″, 7 1/2″, 9′ and 10″. I folded the scored lines as a mountain (3″), valley (6″), mountain (7 1/2″), valley (9″) and mountain (10″). This is the main card base.
I cut a 2 7/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Secret Sea Moonlit Flora DSP and adhered it to the back front panel of the main card base with Liquid Glue. I also cut a 1 3/8″ x 5 3/8″ and a 7/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of the same design and adhered them to the middle front and front front panels with Liquid Glue.
Then I scored a 3″ x 6 1/8″ piece of Secret Sea cardstock at 2″ – and folded it as a mountain. That’s the center step panel. I did similar with two 1″ x 6 3/4″ pieces of Secret Sea, scoring and folding THEM at 3 1/2″. Those are the two side-step panels.
Using Liquid Glue, I adhered a 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ piece of leafy Moonlit Flora DSP to the longer side of each of the side step panels.
I put Liquid Glue on the bottom 1″of the FRONT of the DSP-layered end of the side-step panels and used it to adhere each of them to the back side of the smallest front panel of the card base – making sure to align the edges and bottoms.
I used Liquid Glue on the other end – and, closing the card – adhered them to the BACK of the middle folded second of the card base. Note: the strip will NOT reach all the way into the fold at the bottom of the panel – and that is okay – you don’t want it to – focus on the FRONT alignment! Okay – this is really hard to write – so…please please look at the video! It’s WAAAAY easier than it sounds! Promise! 😉
I adhered a 2 7/8″ x 4″ piece of Soft Sea Foam paper from Moonlit Flora to the larger side of the center-step panel. Using Liquid Glue, I adhered four 1/2″ x 3″ pieces of the leafy Moonlit Flora DSP in a stair step.
I put Liquid Glue at the bottom of the center step panel and used that to adhere it to the FRONT of the middle folded section of the card base.
Note: in the picture below – you can see that the top of the closest side step is a little crinkled. That happened on my first iteration of this card – and prompted me to change the measurements of the side and center panels to what is listed here and in the card cuts below. So – use these dimensions – and the video – and you’ll be GTG! 🙂
Then I closed the card base and used more Liquid Glue to adhere the smaller portion of the center panel to the back of the main card base – thus creating the center step.
On a 2 7/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped a Fern & Flora sentiment in Secret Sea ink. Next to it, I stamped one of the moths from the set in Secret Sea ink and colored it with the Golden Glow Shimmer Brush and Light Berry Burst Stampin’ Blend.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the back of the card base.
Using the second-from-largest Stylish Shapes circle die, I cut out a circle from another design of the Moonlit Flora DSP. Using Liquid Glue, I adhered it to the front panel of the card base.
Using the Fern & Flora dies I cut out some foliage:
– Large leaf from iridescent Sunset Shimmer Vellum Specialty Paper
– Medium leaf from Golden Glow 2026-2028 In Color Pearlized Specialty Paper
– Fiddlehead from Berry Burst Moonlit Flora DSP
– Leaves/Stem die cut from Old Olive cardstock
– Six flower pieces from Berry Burst Moonlit Flora DSP
– Three flower centers from Basic White cardstock.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the two leaves and the fiddlehead to the die cut circle on the card front. Then I assembled the flowers using Liquid Glue and then adhered them to the Old Olive stem/leaves with more Liquid Glue and then to the card front with Liquid Glue.
I made a figure-8 bow with four loops of Linen Thread and adhered it with a Mini Glue Dot.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Fern & Flora sentiment and the moth in Secret Sea ink. Around the sentiment, I stamped the frame image from the set in Berry Burst. Using the coordinating dies, I cut out both images.
I adhered the sentiment over the bow with double-stacked Black Stampin’ Dimensionals. I colored the moth with the Golden Glow Shimmer Brush and Light Berry Burst Stampin’ Blend and adhered it to the side panel with Liquid Glue.
I added some Old Olive Dewdrops Embellishments and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Fern & Flora moth in Secret Sea, Golden Glow and Berry Burst on the front…
…and more of the Moonlit Flora DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Okay – I am totally loving this new version of one of my fave fun folds! Faux steps are fun to make – fun to decorate – and fun to send!! Adding two more steps for a TRIPLE?! BOOM! I love how it gives so much space for decorating and playing – and the Moonlit Flora DSP and coordinating Fern & Flora bundle is a perfect candidate!
I hope you like!
