Stampin’ UP! Simply Lovely Foliage Expanding & Angled Fun Fold Birthday Card with Video

Good morning – did you remember to set your clocks forward or…did you have to do it when you woke up?  That always messes up my day when I forget – especially going this way – I feel like I lose an hour of the day in the blink of an eye!   I much prefer to wake up with the time already changed all around the house! 🙂

My card today is a cool fun fold – called an Expanding & Angled Fold – that I first saw on Lisa Curcio’s site – and I think you’re going to like it!  I made mine into a Gift Card holder – cuz…I always like to have a new way to give those!  It’s decorated with the gorgeous Lovely Blossoms DSP and …the Friendly Foliage bundle.  I turned it into a birthday card using sentiments from the Simply Said Mix-and-Match Stamp Set.  Take a look-see:

The front is a loose take on the sketch at the Try a Sketch on Tuesday challenge.

I started with a 5 1/2″ x 6 1/4″ piece of Petal Pink cardstock.  I scored it at 1″ and 2″ on the long side and folded it as a “Z” – with the 1″ score a “mountain” and the 2″ line a “valley”.

On the back panel, I used Liquid Glue to adhere a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Lovely Blossoms DSP.

On each of the 1″ panels, I adhered a 7/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of the Lovely Blossoms DSP using Liquid Glue.

Using my Paper Trimmer, I scored a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Petal Pink cardstock at 4 1/4″.  Then I cut from the score line to each corner (on a diagonal). The large (scored) triangle is the “expanding” element.  I held onto the triangles that were left over.

Using my Paper Trimmer, I cut a piece of 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Lovely Blossoms DSP into two triangles.  Tip: when you cut all the DSP triangles – be thinking about the orientation that you need for where you’re adhering them!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere a DSP triangle to one of the leftover Petal Pink cardstock triangles.  Then, I put Liquid Glue JUST on the straight edges and adhered it to the back panel of the card base.  Note: don’t put Liquid Glue on the diagonal cut or you won’t be able to stick a gift card in there!

I adhered more DSP triangles to the large scored triangle – one on the front…

…one on the back side of that triangle…

….and one on the BACK side of the second triangle.

I cut a triangle from a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock and stamped a Simply Said sentiment on it in Secret Sea ink.  At the bottom, I stamped the Friendly Foliage leaf twice in Old Olive ink.  Then I adhered it to the final triangle (the “inside”) with Liquid Glue.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the folded triangle to the front 1″ panel of the card base.  Note: the best way to see how to do this is to watch the video! 🙂

For the decoration on the front, I matted a piece of Secret Sea cardstock on a Petal Pink mat.  On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the framed leaf image from Friendly Foliage in Old Olive ink.  Then I used both frame dies from the set to cut out the image.

I adhered the die cut to the matted Secret Sea panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the front triangle piece – again, watching the video is the best way to see how to do this!

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped a Simply Said sentiment in Secret Sea ink.  I cut it out with the second-from-largest Stylish Shapes circle die.

Using Stampin’ Seal, I adhered a loop-d-loop of Mossy Meadow & Gold 1/4″ ribbon – then I adhered the sentiment to the front panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added five Cloud Cover dots from the Moody Palette Glossy Dots and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Friendly Foliage leaves in Old Olive on the front…

…and more of the Lovely Blossoms DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – this is such a cool fun fold – and it’s a ton easier to make than it looks like it should be!  There’s plenty of space to decorate with gorgeous paper like the stunning Lovely Blossoms DSP!  And then the addition of the Friendly Foliage die cut (love!) and perfect sentiments from the sentiment-only Simply Said stamp set is just the icing on the cake! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! has some exciting changes coming in the new catalog!

Price Increases Coming

Stampin’ Up! is committed to providing high-quality paper crafting products and a great overall experience—without compromising the quality that Stampin’ Up! is known for.  At the same time, they carefully consider costs and other important factors.  To do this, they regularly review our pricing based on the cost of doing business, global exchange rates, rising supplier costs, and market comparisons.

Due to higher production costs, please expect price increases in the following product categories:

– Select Stampin’ Cut & Emboss product

– Heat Tool

– Cutting & Scoring Blades Multipacks

– Select Coloring Tools

– Storage

– Select Adhesives

– Select Paper products including Envelopes, Basic White Notecards & Envelopes, and Masking Paper

– Designer Series Paper

– Classic Stampin’ Ink Pads and Refills

– Stampin’ Blends

– Select Embellishments, Twines, and Linen Thread

– In addition, Paper Pumpkin subscriptions will also see an upcoming price increase.

We not been given details yet on the specific price increases for the catalog items, we’ll see what we see when we get our hands on the new catalog later this month.  If you’ve been considering purchasing anything on the list, be sure to order before the current catalog ends to get the lower pricing. 😎

Changes to the Upcoming Catalog Timelines

Starting in May, Stampin’ Up! is refreshing the way they share products in print, with a new, streamlined catalog strategy designed to make shopping from their catalogs easier and more intuitive.  Instead of an annual catalog and multiple minis, they are moving to three beautifully designed catalogs per year—each one complete, current, and easy to use on its own.  No more overlapping catalogs!

Each catalog will introduce new products alongside a selection of customer-favorite staples (core products)—such as stamps, ink, paper, tools, and adhesives—bringing the feel of a mini catalog and an annual catalog together in one place.  This balanced approach creates an easy-to-shop print experience, all within a catalog released every four months:

– January–April

– May–August

– September–December

These seasonal catalogs are designed to put products front and center, making it easy for you to browse, discover, and shop by product category.

I’ll be getting to see the new May-August 2026 Catalog SOON (like…next week when I attend OnStage out in California) and I can’t wait to see the new catalogs moving forward.  I think this new streamlined approach is going to be a really good thing!

New Magnetic Ink Pads – and a peek at the new 2026-2028 In Colors!

Beginning in May 2026, Stampin’ Up! will introduce new felt ink pads in a magnetic, stackable case design.

– In 2026, only the new In Colors will be offered in the new magnetic felt pads.

– In 2027, all ink colors will transition to the new magnetic felt pad as part of a planned color revamp, and the current pad style will be phased out.

Importantly, existing ink pads will remain usable throughout this transition—there is no immediate need to replace what you already own. Please be aware, however, that once the transition takes place, the old ink pad design will only be available while supplies last.

The photo above is an early peek at the new 2026-2028 In Colors!  And they look beautiful!!  The NEW Magnetic Ink Pads in the NEW 2026-2028 In Colors will be available to order 5 May 2026!

Check out the new In Colors!

– Crisp Cantaloupe
– Barely Blush
– Golden Glow
– Peaceful Pine
– Hydrangea Hue

Aren’t they so pretty?!  I’m looking forward to getting to preorder these – SOON! – so I can show them to you “in person”!!

Finn Fan Fix

I’m not saying she’s a little quirky, but…

…she’s definitely got a personality!

And no – we didn’t put her there.  That towel had been laying by the door for her and it got slid under the chair.  And she wanted to sit on it.

So…she did.

Such an awesome fun fold design!! Love it! And a girl knows what she wants…she wants to sit on the towel and she fits under the chair, so she does it. 😉

Love the card. Will have to give it a try.

Addy is just too cute. How much longer is she going to have to wear the splint?

    • stampsnlingers

A couple more weeks – hopefully one more splint change on Thursday and then next week we can pull it! Fingers crossed! Thanks, Sharon! 🙂

Man, you made be double think about the changing of the clocks this AM!! I had to think about it a moment……..do I set them ahead or back???? You said “back”…..so you made me unsure about the situation!!!! I think it is “spring ahead, fall back”…….so I pushed them ahead this AM…I forgot to do it at bedtime. Thanks for making me strain my brain so early in the AM before I had some coffee!! 🙂 Hope the rest of the day is smooth!! Love the card & sure hope Addy isn’t in “jail” all day…..just kidding! Have a good day.
