Good morning and happy happy HAWWMP Day! I’m typing this up on Tuesday evening – while watching one of my favorite movies all time. The Final Countdown. Yes – it’s a move from the 1980’s. And yes – I love it! About an aircraft carrier that is sucked thru a time storm – and they…well. I won’t ruin it for you. Kirk Douglas – Martin Sheen – James Farentino. And all the Navy fighter – carrier – dogfighting Flag-waving footage you could ask for! What’s NOT to love??
Anywho – since this isn’t the Siskel & Ebert show – let’s talk about a card, shall we?? You’ve already seen some peeks at the Translucent Florals stamp set, I’m sure. I used it again today – along with another of the sweet Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks. And…wait till you see one OTHER amazing new goody. Take a look-see:
I selected some card elements with inspiration from the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge this week. I went across the center (using Pretty peacock in it’s BLUE persona!) and across the diagonal (flowers – birthday – gems).
I started by placing the houndstooth mask from the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks set atop a Lost Lagoon panel and securing them both in place with sticky notes.
Using a Blending Brush – I added Pretty Peacock ink to create the design on the panel.
From a piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock, I cut out the eighth-from-smallest Deckled Circle die.
Yes – I said Deckled Circles! Starting on 6 Sept, you’ll be able to pick up this 14-die set to help you layer to your hearts’ content!
Once I had the circle cut out, I used that same panel of Flirty Flamingo to mat my houndstooth card front. Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the die cut circle to the center of the card front.
On a piece of Basic White, I stamped one of the Translucent Flowers in Flirty Flamingo ink. Then I added the stem and a few leaves in Parakeet Party ink.
Using the seventh-from-smallest Deckled Circle (so…one size SMALLER than the Flirty Flamingo circle I’d cut earlier) – I cut out the floral image.
Using Stampin’ Dimensionals – I adhered the image over the Flirty Flamingo circle mat.
I tied a small bow from Linen Thread and adhered it with a little bit of Liquid Glue.
On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Translucent Floral sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink. Then I cut it out with a Stylish Shapes label die.
I adhered the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals, added some Lemon Lime Twist gems from the Tinsel Gems Four-Pack, and the card front was done!
On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment in Pretty Peacock on a Basic White panel. I added a Translucent Florals leaf over the top in Parakeet Party ink.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat and into the Lost Lagoon card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Translucent Florals leaf on the front…
…and the flower and stem on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Okay – that houndstooth pattern from the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks is just as fun as I thought it would be! I’m thinking of other color combos to play with in the coming months – Fall, Halloween, Christmas?! Translucent Floral is a DistINKtive set and I love the texture you get just with stamping. The images really DO look translucent, don’t they? And Deckled Circles. I can’t even! 🙂
I hope you like!
