Good morning and welcome back to your week! I hope you had a great weekend and are raring to go for the work week!
My card today takes us back to my current favorite stamp set – the Soft Seedlings set! I mean – it’s hard for me to resist it! I used it this time around to make a clean and simple card – really letting that big Fall leaf take the spotlight. Here’s a look-see:
So – I loosely based this card layout on the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge this week.
And the color palette is from the Color Throwdown challenge.
I started with the large leaf image from Soft Seedlings in the Stamparatus. I inked it with my Crushed Curry ink pad and stamped it in the corner of my Very Vanilla panel. Then I used a Sponge Dauber to add a little Soft Suede at the base of the leaf and stamped again.
I pulled the panel out and then used the next-to-largest square die from Stylish Shapes as a template and drew a Soft Suede square around the image using my Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker. Tip: using a magnet sheet (like you might store your dies on or from your Stamparatus!) is a great way to help you secure the die in place while you draw around it.
I picked up the die and then used the marker to free-hand a few more lines around the image!
I added some decorative dots around the leaf using the Soft Suede Marker – just to add a little extra sumpin-sumpin!
I stamped the Soft Seedlings sentiment in Night Of Navy up the side of the frame.
I double-matted the panel but…did it a little differently. First, I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Night of Navy mat. Then I popped the matted panel onto a Soft Suede mat using Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done.
On the inside, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the large leaf in Crushed Curry on a Very Vanilla panel. With the Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker, I added some more of the dots around the image.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to Night of Navy and Soft Suede mats and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, adhered the card front with Liquid Glue and the card was done.
My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the Soft Seedlings leaf (in Crushed Curry and Soft Suede) on the front…
…and the small Soft Seedlings image on the envelope flap in Crushed Curry.
Et Voila! I know how many cards I’ve made with the Soft Seedlings set and I just can’t help it very much! It’s too pretty not to use, don’t you think?! And it is perfect in clean and simple card like this one – or in an over-the-top layered-to-the hilt fun fold like this one!
I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix
Finn loves to stuff himself under the recliner.
Better than that, though – is if you can get under the recliner AND have your dad play with you with Mr. Moose.
Wayne is flopping Mr. Moose up and down so Finn’s trying to “catch” it when it comes down.
Victory is sweet!
We mostly let him win. It just seems like the thing to do, but…don’t tell him, okay?

Such a pretty card! Love the clean design, perfect for fall! I’m sure that you don’t let him win…he just happens to be 1000-0 at that game. 😉
Yes – his record is…miraculous!! LOL! Thanks, Amy! 🙂
Your free-hand art is wonderfully creative and looks like it should be a stamp!
That would be fun, wouldn’t it??! Thank you so much, Karen! 🙂
Gorgeous card, even if very Un-Mary-like! Your freehand lines are perfect and I love the little sumpin-sumpin dots for just the right touch. Great #simplestamping card! TFS
Thanks so much, Susan! Now…back to our regularly scheduled Mary-cards!! 😉
Love this card! It looks easy…..but I think I could make it really hard…..ha!
oh Finn-y…..he is so cute…..I’d worry he’d get squished under there….
It’s pretty easy, and the result is worth it, I think! 🙂 Thank you so much! 🙂
Hi Mary….this is a test to see if I can update my subscription here…..I haven’t been able to for a couple days….
Hey Faith – this comment came thru if that’s what you’re checking! 🙂
Soft Seedlings for the win! DistINKtive stamps are some of my favorites.
They’re so pretty! Thanks, Judi! 🙂
