Good morning and Happy Friday! 🙂 Hope you’ve got a fun weekend planned!
I’m hoping to have some friends come this afternoon to do a little card making. We’ll wear our masks and stay as socially distanced as possible. But – she’s retiring from the airline soon and is thinking maybe card-ing would be fun now that she’ll have some time. And – she’s intrigued (rightly enough!) by the current joining special. She likes the sound of “FREE” as much as the next person – and a bundle of free? Yes, please! 🙂
Now – one of the awesomer new bundles in the catalog and…one she – or you! – could pick for free – is the Prized Peony Bundle. The Prized Peony stamp set is gorgeous, for sure. But – the real prize (see what I did there?) is the bundled Peony Dies. Which lets you cut out all the gorgeous flower images in the stamp set AND lets you build stunning 3D peonies. Like I created today. Take a look-see:
So – if you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube live, I appreciate you spending some time with me – and you got to see exactly how to build these peonies. If not – take a gander at it here on YouTube. Moving pictures are worth a gazillion words! 😉
The layout for this one was loosely inspired by this week’s challenge over at Tuesday Morning Sketches.
I started with a piece of In Good Taste DSP wood-grain paper that I matted on Just Jade for the card front using new Stampin’ Seal.
I created some leaves using the dies in the Peony Dies – each leaf uses two different dies. I created them from Just Jade 2020-2022 In Color 6″ x 6″ DSP and from Mint Macaron card stock. The larger solid leaves in Mint Macaron, I embossed in the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
Then I adhered the leaf parts together with Liquid Glue.
I cut three flowers – they each take 4 parts….
One I cut from Whisper White card stock, one from Mango Melody Brights 6″ x 6″ DSP and one from So Saffron Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP. Using an almost-dry Sponge Dauber, I lightly brushed the edges of all the flower pieces.
I ran the four Whisper White petals thru the cutting and embossing machine in the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
Then I used my Bone Folder to curl all the petals into a most-realistic looking shape. 😉
Finally – I assembled all the flowers. Just remember – the smallest petal into the next largest into the next largest and finally into the biggest petal. Align the “notch” at the bottom and adhere with Liquid Glue.
Confused? Truly – it’s easy. Watch the video and I’ll prove it to you! 🙂
I stamped the Prized Peony sentiment in Early Espresso on a piece of Whisper White, then used the smallest rectangle die cut in the Stitched So Sweetly die set to cut the sentiment. That die is the right width – but is too short. So…I made the cut longer by running thru the machine twice. Check the video – this part starts at about 34:45 into the video. LOTS easier to show than to write! 🙂
I laid out my collage and took a picture – first of the whole thing and then with the top flower off…
Then I started adhering all the pieces and parts with Liquid Glue and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I used a couple of Glue Dots to adhere a Linen Thread “Figure 8” before adding the final Mango Melody flower.
A few of the new Elegant Faceted Gems – the pink ones – finished off the card front!
On the inside, I inked the Peony image (the middle sized one) from Prized Peony in Magenta Madness. Then I stamped it off twice before stamping a Whisper White panel. I repeated that three more times. Then I colored them with my Light So Saffron and Light Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends. I also added a second sentiment in Early Espresso.
I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to a Just Jade mat and into my Early Espresso card base, added the card front with Liquid Glue – and the card was done!
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Prized Peony on the front…
…and more of the In Good Taste DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila – does this Peony Die set not make the more stunningly gorgeous flowers?? I can’t believe how real you can make them look – just by stacking four die cuts together! And the beautiful images and sentiments in the bundled Prized Peony round this out to be the perfect bundle!
I hope you like – and have this one coming soon! Or…that it’s on the short list for your free pick when you join my team! 😉

Yesterday, Wayne got back from being in NC for a few days working on our rental property.
Which meant it was – finally!! – time to turn these…
…into this…
No – NOT the yellow squash – it’s destined for different things!
Served up with some corn bread? Oh yes – that’s some good eating!
Well – the Finn-meister was NOT convinced that what I was working on was VEGETABLES!!!
“I LOVE beans, Mom. ESPECIALLY French Algarve beans that I grew myself!”
He doesn’t. I promise.
Now – the ham in the beans?? Likely a far different story! 🙂

Where do I begin? Your post is delicious from start to finish. I’ll take some bean with ham, please. Finn is asking you to make it an early birthday present! I can’t believe how beautifully you colored the top peony. It looks so real. Your video really showed how easy it is. The layering and design are perfect. I bet it takes extra postage! I do hope we will have a new team member. Have fun making cards.
Oh yeah – I’m sure it’ll be a little spendier than “regular” cards but…worth it?? I think so! Thanks very much, Karen! Come on up – I’ll cook another pot for you! 🙂
Beautiful card Mary! Those flowers are stunning!! Yep, Finn looks just like Ginny…”I’ll have whatever you’re having because it must be a treat! Please, please, can I have some too???” Have fun stamping in your socially distanced class!! 🙂
LOL – followed immedialty by “what ARE beans? Oh – I don’t care. Just gimme!”. Thanks, A
my! 🙂
oh yum…..your beans look delicious!!
Re: your peony….I was wondering if you could see much difference between the one made with cardstock and the ones made with DSP?
They really were! And done in like…20 min in my Mealthy Multi-Pot!! Can you say….FAST FOOD?!? I didn’t see a TON of difference – AFTER I embossed the card stock. Without doing that, I thought the DSP curled more nicely and looked a little more like delicate petals! Let me know what you think when you try this one! 🙂 Thanks so much, Faith! 🙂
Such a pretty card! The flowers are gorgeous, and I like the dimension! I’m happy our sketch could inspire you! Thank you for joining us at Tuesday Morning Sketches! I hope you’ll be back again!

How gorgeous! Can’t wait to watch the video and get the low-down on making this! Definitely swoon-worthy! Hope the cardmaking went well and found us another family member!
Finn sure looks convinced he likes beans! Me too!
We had a good time and… I’m cautiously optimistic that we’ll have a new CNCK’r soon! Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂
Wow, your card is gorgeous! I have not been loving this set with all the pink samples, but your flowers are so pretty in non-pink colors! 🙂
Thanks, Beth – thank goodness for peony images on the internet – never realized all the colors peonies come in! 🙂
Gorgeous take on the sketch with the beautiful dimensional flowers!
I want to thank you for joining us at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Mary, you knocked another one out of the park! I’ve been playing with the dies and have 7 peonies sitting on my table never thought to group them. thanks for helping me think!
On another subject, that pot of beans and ham looks soooo good! Wish I lived closer because I definitely would apply to be your taste tester.. 🙂
They were YUMM-O!!!! The beans – the ham – the potatoes – the Mealthy Pressure cooker…a match made in heaven!! Thanks so much, Debbie! 🙂
