Well – here we are! It’s Christmas Eve! I know you’re settling in by a fire with a cuppa nog or….something. And cozy as a bug in a rug!
Oh – wait. You’re NOT?? You’re…going to pick up the roast for dinner? Making eggs and desserts and wrapping those last minute gifts??
Yea. Me, too! LOL! Have a great day ANYway – take a minute to slow down and enjoy the Season!
My card today is not a Christmas card – gasp! – it’s a sympathy card. Sorry – but…sometimes you just have to do what you have to do – and I needed to have this on hand. I used the lovely Timeless Tulips bundle and the Parisian Beauty Bundle with a little help from some Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP. These will all be available to you on 3 Jan in the 2020 Jan-Jun Mini Catalog. Take a look-see:
The layout for this one was inspired by the sketch challenge at FabFriday.
I started with some Pool Party paper from the Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP and matted it on Basic Black for the card front.
My art is a smaller piece of Whisper White. First I used the script stamp in the Parisian Beauty set to stamp the image all over in Pool Party.
Next, I used Petal Pink to stamp several of the flowers from the Timeless Tulips stamp set and then gave them Pear Pizzazz stems and a few leaves (some in full strength and a couple that I stamped a second time without re-inking).
I stamped some flowers and leaves on another piece of Whisper White and punched them out with the bundled Tulip Builder Punch.
I wrapped some Petal Pink 3/8″ Metallic-Edged Ribbon around the panel, adhering it in the back with Glue Dots – then I popped the panel onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I cut a Basic Black fleur-de-loo from the Parisian Die set and adhered it with Liquid Glue. Over that is a Vellum Card Stock label cut with the soon-to-be-available Stitched So Sweetly Die set.
I used my Stamparatus to stamp the Timeless Tulips sentiment in Tuxedo Black on Whisper White then I cut it with a rectangle die from the Stitched So Sweetly Die set. I adhered it over the Vellum with Liquid Glue.
I added my punched flowers and leaves with Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I finished off with a small bow tied from the Petal Pink 3/8″ Metallic-Edged Ribbon – adhered with a Glue Dot – and some Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the card front was done!
On the inside, I used the Stamparatus again to add a second sentiment from Timeless Tulips in Tuxedo Black. Over that, I added more flowers in Petal Pink and some Pear Pizzazz stems and leaves. A few Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels rounded it out.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Black mat and into my Pool Party card base, adhered the card front with Liquid Glue and the card was done!
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more flowers, stems and leaves on the front…
…and a little more Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! While no one ever wants to need a sympathy card – it’s wonderful to have the tools at hand to make one. The Timeless Tulips bundle is simply perfect – with sentiments that say just the right thing. And the Parisian Beauty bundle lends elegant texturing and interest. I hope you like!

Such a beautiful card, perfect sentiment too! Love your design. Poor Finn, having to entertain himself…all that shaking and sliding is rough on a puppy! 😉
It’s not easy, that’s for sure! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂
Lovely card, Mary. You combined those two sets beautifully.
Wishing you and yours a blessed Christmas and a healthy, happy New Year!
Thank you, Debra! Merry Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🙂
Mary, your card is so beautiful. I love the way you have the tulips popping out of the frame. The recipient will be in awe of your creativity…I know I am. Look at that smile of accomplishment on Finn’s face. He is so precious. I may have said this before but it bears repeating…many thanks for all the goodies you have given me throughout the year and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
You are so welcome, Karen – I am grateful to have you in my life! Have a very very Merry Christmas, my friend! 🙂
Stunningly beautiful card, Mary. It will surely make someone feel better. I am not relaxing in front of the fire with a cuppa anything. Going to my granddaughter’s to make Christmas cutout cookies with her children. They would have come here, but I would have had to spend 1/2 the morning wrapping or hiding all the gifts on the dining room table! Family can’t come until Saturday, so tomorrow will be a day for me to do just whatever I want to do!
Sounds like a great way to spend Christmas Eve – and Christmas, too, for that matter! I hope you have a most wonderful day! Merry Christmas, my friend! 🙂
Merry Christmas Mary to you and Wayne & of course Finn!
Same to you, Gerri – thanks so much! 🙂
So pretty, Mary! These tulips are so sweet – and I love your color choices! Thanks so much for playing at Fab Friday!
Thanks so much, Heather! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
