Stampin’ Up! Music From The Heart Sneak Peek Fun Fold

Hey y’all!  It’s three day before Christmas and all thru the house….

No wait.  Too early.

Sorry!

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live  – I appreciate you spending part of this weekend with me!  And – it all worked this week!  Whoo-hoo!!  If you weren’t able to watch, but you’d like to see how to construct this easy easel card, here’s the replay on YouTube!

This card uses the truly wonderful new Music From The Heart stamp set – which is Dawn Olchefske’s $1,000,000 Sales Stamp Set!  When Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators hit that sales mark, they get a trip to the Main Office in Utah and…they get to design a stamp set!!  How cool is that?

Well – this is Dawn’s and she demonstrated it at OnStage in November.  One of the cards she shared was a fun easel-fold….made to look like a grand piano!  There was a collective gasp in the room when she pulled it out – and I knew I had to make one!  I changed my color scheme up a bit – she did an ebony piano and I did white (creme).  Take a look-see:

It lays flat so it mails in a regular envelope!  Cool, huh?

The card base is just a piece of Thick Very Vanilla – scored and folded at 1 7/8″ and again at 4 1/4″.  Fold the 1 7/8″ score line in the opposite direction from the middle line – and you’ve created the easel!

I used the keyboard image in the Music From The Heart set to stamp the card front (above the easel fold on the right side) multiple times in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Yes, yes – I know – and my grandmother is spinning in her grave!  The keyboard is upside down on this one.  Don’t be like me – stamp it with the black keys ON TOP!  Like I did on the video card!

To make the piano, I used the largest Oval Layering Die to cut the curve from the top of a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Then I trimmed the leftover “points” with my Paper Snips.  On the video – you’ll see that I rounded the corners.  And I used the Corner Rounder part of my Detailed Trio Punch to round the opposite top corner.

I wrapped a length of Petal Pink 1/4″ Metallic-Edge Ribbon around the “piano” – securing it in the back with Glue Dots.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the “easel” portion of the card front.

I made the keyboard with a 2 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Basic Black, to which I adhered ten 1/2″ x 2″ pieces of Very Vanilla with Liquid Glue – spacing them evenly on the panel.  Then I used Mini Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop on seven 3/8″ x 1 1/4″ pieces of Basic Black – which made the black keys.

I stamped a sentiment from Music From The Heart on the inside of the card in Cherry Cobbler.

The front “sheet music” is a 2 3/4″ x 3″ piece of Very Vanilla, scored at 1 7/8″ down the short side.  I added the score lines from the stamp set in Tuxedo Black, then the treble clef in Cherry Cobbler.  I used the notes stamps to stamp a little ditty in black.  Hum it – it’s Happy Birthday! (Thank you, Dawn, for that idea!!).

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the small flap of the sheet music to the back of the keyboard – and then more Glue to adhere the whole keyboard and sheet music into the bottom of the card base.

To finish off the card, I used the Garden Gateway dies – coming on 3 Jan, bundled with the Grace’s Garden stamp set – to cut a Pear Pizzazz leaf and a little Cherry Cobbler flower – which I adhered to the “top” of the piano with Liquid Glue.  Then I used a short piece of the Petal Pink 1/4″ Metallic-Edge Ribbon around the longer length and tied a knot to create a “faux-bow”.

All that remained was to decorate my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope.  On the front I added the treble clef in Cherry Cobbler…

…and the keyboard (keys right side up!) on the envelope flap.

Et voila!  I think this is one of the most clever cards I’ve seen in a long time!  And – the Music From The Heart stamp set that Dawn created is…wonderful!  I hope you like – and have added it to your list!

Now – in case you were wondering – the Music From The Heart stamp set AND the Grace’s Garden Bundle are both available as a part of my Bundle #6 – The Say It With Ink Bundle!  Whoo-hoo!!  Check it out!

Happy bundling!

  1. Such a pretty card! So sorry that I missed your live last night…did a last minute trip to the diner and then the grocery store with the kids to get stuff to do some holiday baking…from scratch even!! I’ll catch it on replay. Hmmm…wonder what dad is doing. I’m sure that it’s just talking nicely to Finn since he’s always that attentive when you just talk with him (while holding a plate full of food). 😉

Wait….what?!? Holiday baking from…SCRATCH!?!? Whoo-hooo!! Sound like fun! Yes. That is EXACTLY what is happening. They’re having a “conversation”! 🙂 Thanks, Amy!

  2. Is Dad mending Mr. Elephant? I can’t wait to try my hand at making this card. Thanks for doing the video.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL!! Nooooooo – he MIGHT be eating lunch! Thanks, Karen – have fun with it! 🙂

  3. Faith Simpson

    Hey Mary,
I watched the video when I got home yesterday…..wow…..truly awesome! I love the piano in vanilla too. And the video was perfect….no glitches….yaaaay.
oh poor Finn…..well, he has begging perfected I’d say….who in the world could resist that sweet face??
Christmas is almost here…..may yours be merry…and blessed!!

    • stampsnlingers

NO ONE resists that face – THAT is the trouble! LOL! As Dr. Phil would say…that’s working for you, kid! Thanks, Faith – glad that you enjoyed the video and that it was glitch-free!! 🙂

  4. Uh, could Wayne be EATING? Hah! Too cute. Isn’t it amazing that we can ‘read’ dogs so well? What I THINK that says is that they train us, not the other way around.
Mary, I really do love this card. Couldn’t catch you last night, mainly because I forgot, but would have gotten in on the middle had I remembered, so will watch later. With two daughters who play very well, and me with a grand piano in my living room (I play a little and not well), this really hit home. Guess I will have to make a few as I have friends who are musicians, too.

    • stampsnlingers

Oh yes – then you DO need this set and you DO need to make this fun card!! Have fun with that! Yes – we’re dog whisperers, all right. No doubt! I mean – they’re SOOOO subtle with their signals!! LOL Thanks, Julie!
