Stampin’ Up! Of Butterflies Thinlits and Thoughtful Banners

Good Monday to y’all!  Hope you’re ready for another week.  Of course, I don’t suppose it matters if we’re ready or not – cuz it’s upon us! 🙂

About a hundred years ago – okay, maybe early 2014 – before I found the joys of Stampin’ Up! products, I was self-educating in the world of card making and stamping.  The earliest product line I discovered was Tim Holtz – and his fabulous vintage/steampunk/grunge look.  Definitely my cup o’ tea!  I indulged in a voracious appetite for his goodies – I stalked the aisles of every hobby supply store in the area.  I bought heaps and gobs and buckets of Tim’s grungy goodness.

And then I found Stampin’ Up! and that was it for me and Tim (I’m sure he’s somewhere wondering where I am and why I left him!).  I put my Tim things away.  And yes, I missed many of them.  Still do.  One little item that I really liked was his word stickers.  Whole sheets of stickers with single words typed on them.  The idea being that you’d stick them on your project to make phrases.  Cool ones – like Dream Big.  Imagine Wishes.  Wish Big Dreams.  Sparkle.  Journey.  I was never very good at combining them.  I stuck to single words.  Wish.  Dream.  Imagine.  Oh – well, that would have been a good combo – where was it when I was trying to make cards?! 😉

When I saw the new Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Thoughtful Banners – I was reminded of my Tim Holtz stickers.  And I saw some card examples where folks had stamped individual words and then cut them out and stuck them on.  Like Ideology stickers (that’s Tim Holtz’s line).  And I wanted to try that.

So – today, I did!

I used the stamp sentiments from Thoughtful Banners (new) and added some Papillon Potpourri and a couple of Butterflies Thinlits and Bold Butterfly Framelits to create….this.  Take a look-see:

I know.  It’s busy.  And kind of hard to see the three butterflies in the picture.  Also – no matter what you see in my oh-so-wonderful pictures, just take my word that there’s no black on the entire card!  It’s all Gold – White – Night of Navy.  I know this because I was playing along with the Can You Case It Color challenge #119:

Stampin’ Up! Swirly Scribbles Thoughtful Banners Hello

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there in Blog-ville!  I hope you all have breakfast in bed (and don’t have to clean the kitchen), get the house cleaned (without having to lift a finger!), and receive flowers and adulation from all who know and love you!

I am fixin’ to hit the cards hard today – I planned that yesterday, and was partially successful.  But…some of the guys wanted to go to lunch….

…what’s a girl to do?  And yes – that’s the exact same meal I had at The Olde Pink House last weekend.  I was oh-so-tempted by…well, everything else on the menu!….but in the end, just couldn’t resist that chicken!!  Yuuuuuuuummmmmmm-oooooo!!

But, I did get one and a half cards made on Saturday – and this is one of them!  It’s using some of the many goodies I received this week in my pre-order.  It was really hard to pick just one thing to use – so I used a couple!  I pulled out the Swirly Bird stamp set and its bundled Thinlits – called Swirly Scribbles and added a sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners bundle as well.  Take a look-see:

Bright, huh!?  I’m loving these new 2016-2018 In Colors.  I wasn’t sure I was going to – and felt the same about the Playful Palette DSP, which you can see peeking out from behind the sentiment panel.  But, boy, was I wrong!  It’s growing on me like gangbusters!

Stampin’ Up! A Look Back and Annual Catalog Shares Coming Soon!

Good morning! I can’t even sort of tell you how happy I am to be laying in bed when this post goes live today! It was a close call – late Thursday, it looked like we were going to have to work today and tomorrow! It was looking pretty bleak there for a bit, y’all – I was feeling pretty bummed by the whole thing. Then today, we got a reprieve! Whoo-hoo! A real-live weekend! 🙂

I’ve shared a couple of cards in the last couple of days that used two stamp sets that I just love. I’ve made several cards with them since they came out in the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog and the 2016 Occasions Catalog. I’m referring to the beuaitufl Sweetbriar Rose wooden stamp and the Love You Sew Host stamp set. So – I wanted to lead you on a little stroll down memory lane. Take a look-see at some of my favorite past cards with these two stamps – you can click on the pictures and go right to that post to get a reminder of how I made each one! Enjoy. 🙂

First up – the gorgeous Sweetbriar Rose from the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog…

Stampin’ Up! 2016-2017 Annual Catalogs Coming Soon!

Hey y’all – this is my second post of the day – if you’re looking for the card I shared this morning – click the card picture to go to that post! (But make sure you give this one a quick read first!)

Love You Sew Thanks Kindly 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I wanted to take a quick second to remind you about 2016-2017 Annual Catalogs.  I really want to send them out to all my customers who’ve ordered $50 in product this past year.  But – I’ve had a few orders in the past couple of days where folks have checked the box that says I can’t contact them.  The unintended consequence of that is that I can’t do anything for you! 🙁

Stampin’ Up! Love You Sew Thanks Kindly

Well, as Mr. George Jones so aptly stated…

It’s finally Friday
I got my motor running for a wild weekend

It’s finally Friday

Forget the workin’ blues
And let the good times roll…

Which in my case means I’m fixin’ to roll up my sleeves and get my Big Shot running for a crafty weekend!  Oh – and do laundry! 🙂  What are your plans?  Something fun, I hope!

I’ve got a quick little card to share with you today, using a few things that are retiring at the end of the month.  The Love You Sew host stamp set – which is really one of the cutest stamp sets I’ve seen – and the Greetings Thinlits – which produce three great sentiments in a really nice size and font.  I added in a little bit of One Big Meaning (not retiring) and this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Petite Pairs with Grateful Bunch

Update (9 May 16) – just found out that this card was selected as a Design Team pick over on Stamp Ink Paper.  Check this card and the other winners at this link!  What a nice honor to be given! 🙂

Happy Star Wars Day, y’all!  May The Fourth Be With You! 🙂

I’ll tell you, this week is going by fast!  And work is heating up – fixin’ to be doing some really long days. The kind that start at the hindquarter-crack-of-dawn!  Yuk.  Which means I’m really kind of regretting my days of….sloth!….of this past weekend!  I usually, when I’m away like this and working long days, try to get all my cards for the week done on the weekend.  Cuz I know I’m going to get back to the hotel in a state of brain-deadness; wanting nothing more than dinner, a shower and to veg out in front of the tv till I fall asleep!

But – I must say, I can’t regret what I did on my days of sloth!  Eating great food and browsing the historic district in Savannah on Saturday and stamping with a friend on Sunday!  So, I’ll take it like a man…a WOman, that is!….and git ‘er done this week!

Today’s card uses another couple of things that are retiring – Petite Pairs stamp set and a little more of the lovely Birthday Bouquet DSP.  To that, I’ve added some flowers from the Grateful Bunch stamp set, punched with their matching Blossom Bunch Punch.  Which are not – thankfully! – retiring!  Take a look-see:

The design for my card was inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch #446: Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! For All Things for the Retiring Products Blog Hop

13062283_10209504982569755_1333001386816888793_n
Hey, y’all – it’s Tuesday.  Today’s post is a little bit different from the normal “updates” – the ladies in Amy’s Inkin’ Krew (that’s the name of Amy Koender’s downline demonstrators!) are doing a Blog Hop!  It’s our first one and we’re excited!  For this inaugural Hop, we’re each bringing a project that celebrates one of our favorite Retiring Products!  I hope that you’ll hop thru everyone’s offerings when you’re done here! 🙂

As I put together my look-back post from Saturday – I realized that For All Things is one stamp set (among many!) that I’m really going to miss!  It’s just so pretty and gives us so many options for Fall-themed cards.  But – it works at other times of the year as well.  So, I teamed it up with a few other things I’m really really going to miss….Corrugated Paper, Venetian Crochet Trim, the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack and the Greetings Thinlits.  And one should never – ever! – forget about the Envelope Liner Framelits!  Take a look-see:

For All Things Give Thanks 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
My design for the layout of the card was inspired by the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #170:

Stampin’ Up! In Which I CASE Myself with Painters Palette and Large Numbers!

‘Sup, y’all?  Everyone getting ready to head back to work?  Me, too.  Bleh.  But, I put beef stew in my crock pot so I’ll have dinner all ready when I get back to the hotel tonight – Yum! 🙂

So, last week, I had my cards with me in my bag, and I showed them to my two friends at work.  They were both suitably impressed – doesn’t take much, they don’t realize that the tools I have at my disposal can make me look like a card-making-genius – and I kind of keep that to myself! 😉  And they both requested a card.  The first is the anniversary card I shared with you yesterday.  And the second – which you’re fixin’ to see, is a birthday card for the second guy’s daughter – who’ll be turning 7 shortly.

Now – this is the same guy that, while we were on a previous trip, got a whole bunch of SU! stuff from me for his wife and daughter.  Apparently, his daughter is very artsy and really loves making things.  He was immediately taken with the Painters Palette card I showed you on Friday.  And when he asked for the birthday card – requested one just like it!  Only with a birthday sentiment!

I asked what colors his daughter liked – he said pink.  So, I told him I’d change up the colors – including the card base.  And he said – no – he liked the black background and he knew his daughter would, too!

Since the customer is always right….and it’s a custom card….well, I gave him what he asked for!  This time I added a sentiment from Circle of Spring, some Hearts and a Bitty Butterfly.  She’s still a little girl, after all (seven is still a “little girl”, right??)!  Take a look-see:

See?  Looks eerily familiar, doesn’t it?  Good eye. 😉

Stampin’ Up! Timeless Love & Affection

Update 4 May 16:  Found out this morning that my card was selected as a Pals Paper Artist Pick!  Whoo-hoo!  Wanted to thank the folks over at PPA for picking my card amongst all the beautiful projects submitted!

Hey, y’all!  Happy Sunday!

If you’re coming over from Amy’s Blog – welcome and thanks for stopping by!  Or Welcome Back – as the case may be.

So, yesterday, my friend and I went down to the historic district in Savannah.  Our first stop was a restaurant called The Olde Pink House.

IMG_3728

My friend Jan had given me the recommendation when she heard I was coming to Savannah – and thank the Lord for that!  We waited just a short time, cuz my friend had made us a reservation – and we watched dish after dish being carried out to hungry customers.  When we finally got to our table – in fact, the window on the second floor, just to the right of the front porch is where we sat! – we were huuuuungry!  We ended up splitting three appetizers – Fried Green Tomatoes, Mac & Cheese Jalapeño Poppers and an onion stuffed with an Andouille sausage and cheese mixture and baked.  They were ridiculously good – we barely kept ourselves from licking the plates!  And then we both ordered Country Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and collards.  Oh.  My.  Sweet.  Lord.

IMG_3731

I’m not a fan of boneless chicken breasts – they seem to always be dry as sawdust.  But this – this was a juicy work of pure art.  Melted in our mouths!  Aaron – who doesn’t seem like he should be a foodie, but is! – said he was pretty sure this was the best meal he’d has in his entire life!

So – if you’re ever coming down to Savannah – skip right past The Lady and Sons (trust me on this) and head to The Olde Pink House.  The house itself is gorgeous, all the tables are set up in the various rooms of the Havershams’ old and beautiful family home and the wait staff all know little tidbits of history from the house.  And the food is beyond spectacular.

In fact – let me re-phrase.  You need to start figuring out a reason to come to Savannah!  Right now! 🙂

Okay.  Card.  Not food.  On it…

The same friend that I had lunch with had asked me to make him an Anniversary card for his wife.  I seem to get a lot of commissions when I’m out on business! 🙂  So, I came up with a card that would suit his (and her) not-so-froofy natures.  I used the coming-soon Affectionately Yours DSP and Love & Affection stamp set, and combined it with Timeless Love from the current Annual Catalog.  Take a look-see:

Timeless Love & Affection 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I was going for a pretty and elegant card, with not a lot of bling, but some.  The copper accents in the new Affectionately Yours DSP was just the ticket, and I played that theme out by also using the new Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! A 2016 Retiring Product Retrospective!

Happy Saturday, y’all!  As I write this on Friday evening, the weekend looms long ahead.  And yet I know that I’m going to blink and it’ll be Monday morning!  We’re entering….the WEEKEND ZONE…in which time flies by at an unrelenting and unreasonable pace for a couple of says – ending abruptly with the alarm clock going off at O’Dark Thirty on Monday morning. 🙁

So – a few weeks back, I showed y’all the uber-cool vegetable beds that my hubby welded and built for me.  Before I left this week we got everything planted that I’d planned to plant.  Meaning I have two empty beds left – to plant in quick growing stuff when I get home.  But – the one we did plant is awesome!  Four tomato plants and four Ancho Magnifico chile pepper plants!  And lots of good, smelly bug-repelling marigolds!

Yum!

That’s what I left at home.  What I did not leave at home was much – if any! – of my stamping goodies!

Yep – brought my plastic Steri-Lite CD case stamp holders and my Stamp-N-Storage Combo Holder and practically everything!  But – looks like it’s going to be a good spot to stamp, right?  Viva TownePlace Suites! 🙂  Viva the MINI-VAN!!
