Stampin’ Up! Detailed Dragonfly Sneak Peek!

Good morning!  It’s Friday – whoo-hoo!!  Soon after you read this, I’ll be headed back to Salt Lake for my oh-so-comfortable ride home tomorrow!  Can’t wait to see Finn and Wayne.

Was it wrong of me to put them in that order?! 🙁

I won’t miss much about being here, I must confess.  One thing I will miss, though, is the beauty of the weather.  It’s so uniquely high-desert; it reminds me of when we lived in New Mexico.  Here’s what was outside the hotel when I went out the other day.

Breathtaking!

Or maybe that was the cold….hard to say! 🙂  But I obviously appreciated it enough to stop and get my camera out to take the picture, right?

My card for today is another 2017 Occasions Catalog sneak peek.  This time I’m teasing you with the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits – which you’ll be able to get bundled up to save 10%!  This one also uses some 2017 Sale-A-Bration Carried Away DSP.  And – peeking out from the back, one of the Floral Affection TIEFs from the Annual Catalog.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from the RetroSketches challenge this week:

rs-241-sketch
And the color scheme is inspired by the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge.  Triple Irish Creme cupcakes, to be exact.  Hello?!? 🙂

cupcake-inspirations-386-sketch
I started out by SNAILing a piece of Carried Away DSP to a Mint Macaron mat for the card front.  The next layer is a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock, embossed in the Floral Affection TIEF.  Once I pulled it from the Big Shot, I colored the raised pattern with my Gold Wink of Stella.  My thought was it would look a little like edible gold-leaf on chocolate.

It didn’t get quite that intense, and it doesn’t show up all that well in the pictures, but in person, there’s a subtle gold sheen to the pattern!  Squint yer eyes – maybe you’ll see it….

I SNAILd that embossed panel to a Mint Macaron mat and then to the card front.

Next up – the tag.  I pulled out my World of Thanks background stamp, inked it up (with it laying rubber-side-up on my work surface) with Mint Macaron ink.  Then I laid a piece of Whisper White card stock on top of the stamp and carefully rubbed all over it – being careful not to move the card stock.  I picked it up and cut a 2″ wide piece for my tag.  Then I punched the top with my Scalloped Tag Topper punch and the bottom with my Banner Triple Punch.  To help it stand out a little, I edged the tag with a Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write Marker.  Finally, I took 4 short lengths of Whisper White Thick Baker’s Twine, ran them thru the top of the tag and spread them out all pretty-like.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the tag to the card front.

My sentiment is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.  I stamped it in Chocolate Chip on a strip of Whisper White.  Then I stuck each end of the strip in the back of the Decorative Label punch to make the ends.  That’s a quick tip to make a decorative label larger than the punch will do just by itself! 🙂

I edged my label with my Mint Macaron Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it over the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I added three Pearl Basic Jewels under the sentiment.

I used the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits to make my dragonfly.

Hmmm.  Redundant much, Mary?? 🙂

First I cut the smaller detailed dragonfly from a piece of Mint Macaron DSP.  Next was a dragonfly cut from a piece of Vellum card stock.  I used my Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the two die cuts together – just adhering the bodies, not the wings.  Lastly, I cut one from a piece of Chocolate Chip Designer Series Paper, snipped out just the body and adhered it over my dragonfly.  I brushed the Vellum wings with my Clear Wink of Stella and then used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop him onto my card front.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I stamped the dragonfly image from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set in Mint Macaron on a Whisper White panel.

detailed-dragonfly-dreams-thanks-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd it to a Mint Macaron mat, then into my Chocolate Chip card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Mint Macaron Dragonfly Dreams dragonfly on the front…

…and some more Carried Away DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is such a fun bundle – the Dragonfly Dreams stamp images and sentiments are perfect and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits make short work of getting beautiful, dimensional additions to your cards!  Hope you like!

Finally.  It’s Friday.  I’ve done my last wake up to an alarm clock for a bit!  Driving home tomorrow – all the stuff is packed up – just needs to get in the car!  We’re going to have one last dinner at the Olde Pink House tonight and then tomorrow….I’m off!

Today’s card is another one I made across the long weekend, and it makes use of the pretty Love & Affection Stamp Set, plus a little Affectionately Yours DSP.  And the Floral Affection TIEF!  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Timeless Love & Affection

Update 4 May 16:  Found out this morning that my card was selected as a Pals Paper Artist Pick!  Whoo-hoo!  Wanted to thank the folks over at PPA for picking my card amongst all the beautiful projects submitted!

Hey, y’all!  Happy Sunday!

If you’re coming over from Amy’s Blog – welcome and thanks for stopping by!  Or Welcome Back – as the case may be.

So, yesterday, my friend and I went down to the historic district in Savannah.  Our first stop was a restaurant called The Olde Pink House.

IMG_3728

My friend Jan had given me the recommendation when she heard I was coming to Savannah – and thank the Lord for that!  We waited just a short time, cuz my friend had made us a reservation – and we watched dish after dish being carried out to hungry customers.  When we finally got to our table – in fact, the window on the second floor, just to the right of the front porch is where we sat! – we were huuuuungry!  We ended up splitting three appetizers – Fried Green Tomatoes, Mac & Cheese Jalapeño Poppers and an onion stuffed with an Andouille sausage and cheese mixture and baked.  They were ridiculously good – we barely kept ourselves from licking the plates!  And then we both ordered Country Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and collards.  Oh.  My.  Sweet.  Lord.

IMG_3731

I’m not a fan of boneless chicken breasts – they seem to always be dry as sawdust.  But this – this was a juicy work of pure art.  Melted in our mouths!  Aaron – who doesn’t seem like he should be a foodie, but is! – said he was pretty sure this was the best meal he’d has in his entire life!

So – if you’re ever coming down to Savannah – skip right past The Lady and Sons (trust me on this) and head to The Olde Pink House.  The house itself is gorgeous, all the tables are set up in the various rooms of the Havershams’ old and beautiful family home and the wait staff all know little tidbits of history from the house.  And the food is beyond spectacular.

In fact – let me re-phrase.  You need to start figuring out a reason to come to Savannah!  Right now! 🙂

Okay.  Card.  Not food.  On it…

The same friend that I had lunch with had asked me to make him an Anniversary card for his wife.  I seem to get a lot of commissions when I’m out on business! 🙂  So, I came up with a card that would suit his (and her) not-so-froofy natures.  I used the coming-soon Affectionately Yours DSP and Love & Affection stamp set, and combined it with Timeless Love from the current Annual Catalog.  Take a look-see:

Timeless Love & Affection 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I was going for a pretty and elegant card, with not a lot of bling, but some.  The copper accents in the new Affectionately Yours DSP was just the ticket, and I played that theme out by also using the new Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Continue reading
