Good morning, y’all It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. We’ve got a sketch challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table. I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!
There’s a new stand-alone stamp set coming on 3 March in the new Online Exclusives – and it’s one you MIGHT overlook! It’s called the Moon & Back stamp set and it’s…darling! I used it – along with some Lights of Aurora DSP (in the current Annual Catalog) to make a fun birthday card! Take a look-see:
And – here’s our sketch!
I did a quick video on how to make this card – which is posted on Instagram. If you’d like to give that a watch – click here!
I started by double matting a 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″ piece of the Lights of Aurora DSP – adhering it with Stampin’ Dimensionals on a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Pool Party Pastels Shimmer Specialty Paper. Then I adhered it to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Berry Burst cardstock with Liquid Glue.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the little astronaut from the Moon & Back set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I stamped his space capsule at the end of the tether.
I colored his suit with a Light Berry Burst Stampin’ Blend and the capsule with the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend.
Then I stamped the stars image a few times in Pool Party ink.
I matted the panel on more Pool Party Pastels Shimmer Specialty Paper and then popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On a piece of black paper from the Lights of Aurora DSP, I stamped the moon from the set in Versamark Ink. I sprinkled it with white Basics WOW Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool. Then I stamped the sentiment inside the moon and heat embossed it in white, too. Hint: be sure to use your Embossing Buddy before stamping BOTH images! 🙂
When it was all cool, I cut out the sentiment with the next-to-largest Stylish Shapes circle die and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added five clear Faceted Snowflakes (they’re on the last chance list so…don’t miss these gorgeous embellishments!!) and the card front was done.
On the inside, I stamped another sentiment from the Moon & Back set in Berry Burst ink on a Basic White panel. Then I added the astronaut, his capsule and some stars. Note – add the tether by inking the image and then carefully stamping JUST the tether. Yeah for photopolymer stamp sets!
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the tether and capsule – with some stars! – on the front…
…and more Lights of Aurora DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Was I right? This Moon & Back set is super cute, isn’t it? That little space-a-man (IYKYK) is just adorable (and highly trained and competent, I’m totally sure!). With some careful stamping – you can have him – and his little capsule! – floating pretty much anywhere. The moon and sentiments that fit inside – are a lot of fun. And, I think the Lights of Aurora DSP is sorta of…the perfect pairing!
I hope you like this fun little stamp set – and have added this to your gotta-get-it list for 3 March! 🙂
