Stampin’ Up! Lovely & Sweet Notes of Nature Birthday Card

Good morning all and Happy Happy Hawwmp Day!  Once again – the week – and month! – is speeding by!  The OTHER thing that’s speeding by is my Double Peppermints ordering special – it ends TOMORROW night!  So…don’t miss your chance!

My card today is right back in the very center – nay, the SWEET SPOT! – of my wheelhouse.  All thanks to the Notes of Nature and Lovely & Sweet bundles – which are complementary bundles in the new Mini catalog.  And they got a little help from the coordinating Nature’s Sweetness Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

Told ya – it’s totally a Mary Card!

I started by embossing a piece of Basic White cardstock in the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder.  I adhered the embossed panel to a Pecan Pie mat with Liquid Glue for the card front.

Using the largest Stylish Shapes circle die, I cut out a piece of Pecan Pie paper from the stunningly gorgeous Nature’s Sweetness Specialty DSP.  I adhered the circle to the card front with Liquid Glue.

A very cool feature of this paper is that several of the gold-foil-embossed images on some of the papers can be cut out with the dies in the Lovely & Sweet Die set.  So – that’s what I did – cutting the large almond tree image.

I used a leaf die from the Notes of Nature Die set to cut out three Distressed Gold Paper leaves.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the die cut leaves – both the Gold leaves and the DSP leaf – to the die cut circle.

With all the leaves in place, I tied a double-loop Linen Thread bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

On a strip of Basic White, I stamped the sentiment from the Notes of Nature stamp set in Pecan Pie ink.

I matted the strip on Pecan Pie cardstock and then adhered it mostly over the bow with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Neutrals Adhesive-backed Sequins and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped the Lovely & Sweet large almond image in Pecan Pie ink in the corner of a Basic White panel.  Using the small hash-mark image in the same set, I stamped it several times in stamped-off-ONCE Pecan Pie.  Then I used the grid image from Notes of Nature to stamp in stamped-off-TWICE Pecan Pie ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pecan Pie mat and into my Thick Basic White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the same collage-y mix of images from Lovely & Sweet and Notes of Nature on the front…

…and more of the Nature’s Sweetness Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Wow, y’all!  The Lovely & Sweet Bundle and the Notes of Nature Bundle are both stunning in their own right but…when they team up on a card!?!  Let your collage flag fly!  Add a little of the Nature’s Sweetness Specialty DSP and…boom chaka laka!!

Finn Fan Fix

The face of a dog whose mom has gone outside three times in two hours and made him stay in the house all three times.

Cuz – it was pouring like a mo. Which is a LOT.

And Mom was tired of drying off miles and piles of fur. And mud.  And…pine needles.

Stupid rain.

Such a pretty card! Love the layout and the colors are perfect! Poor Finn…what mud and pine needles? He hardly notices those and doesn’t really see why it’s necessary to clean them up every time. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

I know – he’s totally impervious to all things wet, muddy, sticky….:(. Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Mary PUNCHES

Are the pictures in your emails purposely distorted. All the pictures are elongated to the point you can’t tell what the picture looks like.

    • stampsnlingers

Hey Mary – I’m not having any issues with what I can see on my computer or phone so…it may be a settings issue for you! I’m sorry you’re having trouble! 🙁

  3. Stephanie Alton

I have been following you for years, reading about your stays in hotels and setting up craft areas in them and watching Finn as he scampers about. But I tell you, I actually snorted my coffee reading this morning..the last line did me in! Stupid rain. You both crack me up! Thanks for the laughs!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – hope you didn’t get coffee on your computer or phone! :). Happy to give you a chuckle – and thanks for following us, Stephanie! 🙂

  4. Faith Simpson

Gorgeous card….and I would have known you made it even without a signature….cuz yes, it is totally a “Mary card”!
Poor Finn….raincoat?? They don’t help the feet tho.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – I KNEW everyone would recognize it! Thank you so much! And – he needs like…a full-body wetsuit. For the skirt and pantaloonies! And booties, too! 🙂

  5. His face says it all! Dogs are SO funny.
You know I love this card…the neutral look, the elements of nature, the collage.
Thanks for sharing. Will be CASeing this one. I have 8 family members with birthdays this month, so making lots of birthday cards.

    • stampsnlingers

Oh – yes! It’ll be perfect for all those birthdays! It’s one of my fave cards! Thank you so much, Julie! 🙂

  6. Gail S.

You just added to my “need to get” list, Mary! I’ll never be as good with those double bows, but I’ll work something out. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us. Yep, right now DOG is coming in covered with big flakes of snow. Do you suppose I’ll get to him before he shakes?? Don’t count on it!

    • stampsnlingers

Nope – I am 100% certain that you didn’t make it before the big shake!😎. Thank you so much, Gail! 🙂

  7. Dianna

Hello! The card is beautiful! I’m casing it right now for a masculine birthday card! Just wondering about the supplies list that includes the Perennial Postage Dies x 3. I don’t see them used on the card shown. Just curious 😊 Thanks.

    • stampsnlingers

Oh dear – that’s probably a cut and paste error – I’ll get it fixed, cuz…nope! Didn’t use them! Thanks for letting me know – and for the kind words! 🙂
