Stampin’ Up! Oceanfront Scenic Wonders Joy Fold Birthday Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning and happy Friday!  I tell you what – I just can’t believe how fast the year is flying by!  Wow!

Did you guys hit up the online exclusives yesterday?  Maybe buy a new kit – an adorable truck punch – some Scoring Blades? Check out the Clearance Rack refresh?  And earn some Bonus Days coupons (don’t lose those codes, y’all!) while you were at it?  If you did, I hope you had fun!  If not – then take a gander down below for some handy links – there’s too much good stuff to miss! 🙂

My card today is one of my favorite fun folds ever – and one of the easiest – so it’s a winner winner chicken parmigiana dinner (got Italy on my mind these days, sorry!)!  Joy Fold cards are easy AND a great way to showcase pretty DSP – like the Let’s Go Fishing DSP I’ve used on this one.  And there’s room for some fun stamping, too – I made a beachy birthday scene with the Oceanfront and Scenic Wonders stamp sets. Take a look-see:

The card was for sure inspired by the theme challenge at The Paper Players this week!

I started with two card bases – a large and a small – both in Boho Blue.  The first, 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ – I scored and folded at 5″.  The small base is 3″ x 8″ and is scored and folded at 4″.

Tip: the only “hard” part about a joy fold card is making sure you decorate the small card base with the fold on the RIGHT side – not the left!  Keep that in mind and you’ll be golden!

I matted two pieces of Let’s Go Fishing DSP on Lost Lagoon cardstock and adhered them to the front and back panels of the large card base using Liquid Glue.

To make the front of the small card base, I started by stamping the sentiment from Scenic Wonders in Misty Moonlight in the corner of a small Basic White panel.

Using the larger angled stamp in the Oceanfront set and, with the straight edge at the bottom – I inked just the “point” in Lost Lagoon ink and stamped it right above the sentiment.  I know – it’s confusing – check out the video and you’ll see what I mean! 🙂

I turned the stamp over (putting the straight edge at the top) and stamped the “sky” in Pool Party ink.

I added a cattail in Mossy Meadow, a tall grass and a few small grasses in Lost Lagoon ink.

Then I added the birds from the Scenic Wonders set in Pretty Peacock.

I matted the panel on Pool Party cardstock and then adhered it to the front of the small card base – with the fold on the right as I looked at it!

For the inside, I used the smaller image in the Ocean Front set in Lost Lagoon in the bottom corner of a small Basic White panel.  I added the grasses again in Mossy Meadow and Lost Lagoon, plus the Scenic Wonders birds in Pretty Peacock.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pool Party mat and then into the small card base.

Using Liquid Glue on the back of the small card, I adhered it in the middle of the back panel of the larger card.

I adhered a small Linen Thread bow to the front of the card with a little Liquid Glue and some blue and pink sequins from the Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the ocean scene on the front…

…and more of the Let’s Go Fishing DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Oh.  My.  Goodness.  This is my first go with the Oceanfront set but it will not be the last, FOR SURE!  I love it so much!  It’s so fun to play with and build scenes – in fact, we did a little experimenting on the video.  I made a “variation” on my grid paper – using Wild Wheat for the cattails image (instead of Mossy Meadow).

What do you think?  We decided that we love BOTH versions – so…let your imagination fly!  There aren’t any sentiments in the set – so you can pull out the Scenic Wonders set for an assist – and get some sweet little birds at the same time. Watery paper from the Let’s Go Fishing DSP was just too perfect!
