Stampin’ Up! Grassy Grove Triple Easel Fun Fold with Video Tutorial

Well – good morning on Friday!!  And…is this a long weekend for some of you?  Martin Luther King Day – for some will be a day off – if that’s you – hope you’ve got something fun planned. 🙂

If you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube live – I appreciate you spending part of your week with me. 🙂  If not – and you’d like to have a peek at the replay -here ’tis on YouTube!

Y’all know I like a good easel card.  I’ve done SINGLE easels.  I’ve done DOUBLE easels.  When I ran across a video from Dawn Griffith with a TRIPLE EASEL!! – I jumped on it!  I decided to make a pretty popped-up scene using New Horizons DSP and the Grassy Grove stamp set, with its bundled Grove Die Set.  Take a look-see:

I started with a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock for my card base.  Before going further, I stamped the back of the panel with the pretty pine tree image in Evening Evergreen.

On the front, I used Liquid Glue to adhere an Evening Evergreen strip across the bottom of the panel (with the edges lined up).

I created three easel cards – a large, medium and small – in Pale Papaya (you’ll need 12″ x 12″ paper for this card).

Large: 4″ x 12″ – scored at 4″, 6″ and 8″ (folded as Valley – Mountain – Valley)
Medium: 3″ x 9″  – scored at 3″, 4 1/2″ and 6″ (folded as Valley – Mountain – Valley)
Small: 2″ x 6″ – scored at 2″, 3″ and 4″ (folded as Valley – Mountain – Valley)

Each of the easels got Stampin’ Seal on the smaller panel (between the Mountain and second valley folds) to adhere the two parts together and create the easel.

NOTE:  it’s a LOT easier to see how to do this on the video.  Fast scrub the video to about the 8 minute mark to see how to put the little easels together! 🙂

I used the trees image in the Grassy Grove set to stamp some trees on the largest New Horizons DSP square in Evening Evergreen ink.  Then I matted it on Evening Evergreen and adhered it to the “front” of the large easel.  I matted and adhered a different pattern of the paper on the base panel of the easel.

I repeated the steps on the medium and small easels.

Using the two deer dies in the Grove Die set, I cut a mama and a baby deer from Early Espresso.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the larger deer to the front of the medium easel and the small one to the smallest easel.

I adhered the large easel to the card base, using Liquid Glue.  I butted the bottom of the panel right up against the Evening Evergreen strip.

I adhered the next two easels with Liquid Glue – spacing the medium easel midway on the Evening Evergreen strip and the small easel with the bottom right at the bottom edge of the card base.

The sentiment, from Grassy Grove, is stamped in Evening Evergreen on Basic White and cut with the smallest rectangle Stitched So Sweetly die.  I popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals – it’s the easel stop for the smallest easel.

I added some Brushed Brass Butterflies here and there on each of the easels and the card was…done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Grassy Grove trees in Evening Evergreen on the front….

…and more of the New Horizons DSP on the envelope flap.

In the video, I used some Heart & Home woodgrain DSP for the base panels – cuz I was out of the Pale Papaya New Horizons DSP.  Check it out!

And – gotta show you…

…I stuck a tiny Brushed Brass Butterfly right on the baby bambi’s schnoozle!  🥰🥰

Et Voila!  THREE easels?  Yes, please!  This is such a cool fun fold!  I love how the New Horizons DSP creates a pretty backdrop for the sweet deer silhouettes, don’t you?  The Grassy Grove stamp set is lovely – and I haven’t even tapped all the wonderful dies in the bundled Grove Dies!!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Yesterday morning we were eating breakfast in the kitchen – in our usual spots..

When all of a sudden – Finn lets out a growl that…Cujo would have been proud of.

Not the I-see-a-figment woof.

Nope.  Full-on.  Deep in his chest.  Blood-curdling.  Growl.

I think….Oh my Lordy.  What does he see??

A painter?

An escaped convict?

ET?

I get up to look and…it’s worse.

Much.

Much.

Worse.

It’s those dastardly deer!  TOOCLOSETOOCLOSETOOCLOSE! Considering coming up the STAIRStothebackdoorGETAWAYGETAWAYGETAWAY! He said ALL of this without ever raising his voice – just that long.  Menacing.  Growl.

And go away they did.

Dastardly – but…not stupid!

  1. How perfect and magical…the deer went away right onto your card! I will be attempting to CASE your beautiful card.

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – that’s how it looks for sure! Do give it a go – it looks a lot harder than it is! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  2. Donna Black

Beautiful story telling card. One can imagine they are out in the woods on a beautiful fall day. Noted that the card matches Finn’s ‘growly’ words today!

    • stampsnlingers

Isn’t it a fun fold?!? I love it – and this probably won’t be the last one y’all have to see! 🙂 Thanks!

  3. Such a sweet card! Love the layering on the fancy fold, the deer are so sweet! And yeah, those deer are quite the menace…glad that Finn was on patrol. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – you can’t ever relax. They’re everywhere! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  4. Kathleen VanDeVeere

Card a winner! Even with a dastardly deer…no, especially with a dear one.

  5. Angie Latham

The card is great! I will be CASING it. As always, Finn is adorable. But, the story . . . Well, do you want to become extremely wealthy? You know, where you can afford a home on the beach in the Bahamas??? Then you need to write a book about Finn! Your vignettes are so entertaining, and the wording is perfectly timed. I can’t imagine how fun it would be to read a whole book about Finn and company. Or maybe it would be better to write a series of short stories – complete with pics of Finn, of course . . . Your (er, Finn’s, LOL) followers would buy the first few hundred copies and give you a great start! Yup – best sellers!!!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – that would be fun, wouldn’t it? Maybe one day! 🤷‍♀️ Thank you so much for the very kind words, Angie!! 🙂

  6. Faith Simpson

    Hi Mary,
This is SUCH a gorgeous card!! THREE easels…I mean who even knew there could be such a thing!!….add that gorgeous DSP….pretty trees…..those deer…..Thank you so much for giving us a PDF. I will for sure try to make this.
Your local deer must have heard about the card…..I mean, they were featured on it!! I think they came to take a look…or to say ‘thanks’…..or to see if there were good things to eat…..I’m SURE Finn didn’t like that idea at all! He earned his keep for sure….good Finn.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – they knew they’d be blog-stars, just like Finn! He’s a good guard dog, for sure!! Thanks so much, Faith! 🙂

  7. Kathryn Howe

So glad you did a video on the triple easel card! The New Horizons DSP enhances the entire design! I love that DSP! Finn is a good boy for asking that deer to leave! Meeko our 14lb Norwich Terrier thinks she’s Finn’s size. She smells them in our forever wild backyard and goes outside barking the perimeter and running around announcing she is here and don’t come in her yard. We go outside with her but she thinks, “ I’ve got this Mom!” Too funny. Catch you later!

    • stampsnlingers

Rottweiler in a Norwich suit – I love it! They’re so fun! Thanks so much, Kathryn! 🙂
