Good morning, y’all! It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!! We’ve got a sketch challenge to work with today and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table! I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!
I pulled out the wonderful new Inspired Thoughts stamp set – it has wonderful sentiments in it! – and some Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP to make a sympathy card for you today! And – there’s a bit of a twist from the Pets Dies set. Take a look-see:
And – here’s our sketch!
And….just realized I missed the twine element. Huh. Old eyes, I guess! Well – squint yours and pretend there’s some black-and-white twine wrapped around the card, okay? 😉
The color palette from the TGIF Challenge this week fit really well with the look and mood I was going for on this one.
I started with a piece of Night of Navy card stock that I embossed in the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and popped onto the front of a Night of Navy card base with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to create the card front. Tip – when you want an embossed card front that is as big as – or even almost as big as, in this case – the front of the card base, consider embossing a same-color panel and adhering it to the card base. That way you don’t run the risk of warping your card base – but you get “the look”! 😉
I pulled out a Basic Gray and a Night of Navy design from the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP and matted them both on Basic Gray. The gray DSP panel is slightly larger than the Navy panel.
I adhered the matted Basic Gray panel to the card front with Liquid Glue – at a jaunty angle. The Navy panel is also adhered with Liquid Glue – but it’s straight.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from Inspired Thoughts in Basic Gray. Then I cut it with a Scalloped Contours label die.
I used the three-paw-print die in the Pets Die set and cut them from the middle of a piece of cardstock – to create a mask!
I placed my mask on the sentiment die cut and used my Blending Brush and Night of Navy to create the three paw prints.
When it was dry – give it a minute – the dark colors can take a little longer to dry! – I popped it onto the card front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done.
On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Inspired Thoughts in Basic Gray on a Basic White panel. I added the Night of Navy “paw prints” next to the sentiment using my mask and Blending Brush.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Gray mat and into the card base and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got more Pets paw prints on the front…
…and more of the Night of Navy Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.
I hope you like!
