Stampin’ Up! Merry Moose and Plaid Sneak Peek

Good morning! Happy mid-way-thru-the-weekend!  Hope it’s going well – it’s a freakin’ steam bath here!  Yikes.  I am SO ready for some Fall weather.  Either that or I need to build an underground bunker. 😉

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me!  If not, but would like to see how I made today’s card – and get a few more looks at some goodies in the new 2019 Holiday Catalog – here’s the replay!

From the instant I saw the Merry Moose stamp set – and the bundled Moose Punch (seriously?!? 🙂 ) – I knew this would be at the top end of my list for this really awesome new catalog!  And then I saw the Wrapped in Plaid DSP and…well.  It was a moose-y marriage made in heaven!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I started by building the background – using the new Basic Pattern Decorative Masks (coming on 4 Sept in the 2019 Holiday Catalog).  I used the trees mask and a sponge with Crumb Cake ink to first create the trees.  Leaving the mask in place, I then sponged lightly over the top with new Golden Glitz Delicata Ink (also new in the 2019 Holiday catty!).  When it was dry, I matted the panel on Cherry Cobbler for the card front.

Next I cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler plaid paper from the Wrapped in Plaid DSP, using a square Stitched Shapes Die.  I also cut a same-size piece of Very Vanilla.  I adhered the plaid square at a diagonal onto the card front with Liquid Glue.

On the Very Vanilla square, I stamped the large tree from Merry Moose in Shaded Spruce – twice.  Then I used the small tree image – and stamped-off-once Shaded Spruce – to add a few background trees.  I inked the large tree with the Golden Glitz ink and stamped over the top of the images.  Then I adhered the square to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used a few Glue Dots to adhere a length of 5/8″ Burlap Trim across the panel.

I cut a small Rectangle Stitched Dies shape from Very Vanilla, stamped the Merry Moose sentiment in Cherry Cobbler, and adhered it to the trim with Liquid Glue.

On another piece of Very Vanilla, I stamped the moose in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Then I used my Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends to color his body and Light and Dark Gray Granite for his antlers.  I cut him out with the Moose Punch and, using Liquid Glue and some Mini Dimensionals (under the antlers), adhered him next to the sentiment.

I stamped the scarf in Shaded Spruce on Very Vanilla, fussy cut it and adhered it with Liquid Glue.  Then I added some Shaded Spruce jewels from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels (these are coming soon, too!) and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment in Cherry Cobbler to a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I did a few more Shaded Spruce and Golden Glitz trees and some “ground/snow” in stamped-off-once Crumb Cake.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Cherry Cobbler mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Merry Moose trees on the front…

…and some more of that wunnermus Wrapped in Plaid on the envelope flap.

Et Voila.  Moose.  Trees.  Sentiments.  An adorable racoon.  AND a punch??  Yep – the Merry Moose bundle is going to be a heavy favorite this season, I am 100% confident!  And if you pair it with plaid?  Oh my.  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Did you guys know that yesterday was – apparently – National Spoil Your Dog Day?

No – I didn’t either.  Until I got an e-mail from Chewy or IHeartDogs or some such.

So…if I understand this correctly…we’re only supposed to spoil our dog on ONE DAY OUT OF THE YEAR?!?

Finn gives this stupid idea about a million paws DOWN!

Maybe a National Spoil Your Cat Day (and maybe then only once every 5 or 6 years – if you MUST have a cat).

But – not for dogs.

Dogs must be spoiled every.  Single.  Day.

Yesterday, in order to ensure that happened – Finn got me up twice on Friday night to go out.  This is unheard of in our house.  He simply never has to go out once he’s hit the sack.

THIS is normal – all night long – with nary a twitch nor a wiggle.  Probably some snoring, but that’s about it.

So I was on high alert on Saturday morning and, sure enough, appears he had a little tummy upset.

The 2 teaspoons of Pepto Bismol (YUK, mom – what the HECK!?!) was not even sort of well received.

Chicken and rice in the Mealthy Multi-Pot was the more (much more!) palatable remedy.  Dump it in – a quick 3 minutes on high and then sit until I got back in from doing the horses and…

I’ll feed this out and I’m quite sure it will settle his little tummy right down.

Also I’ll be a rock-star AND – will have fulfilled the requirement to spoil my dog for this year.  Winner winner chicken-and-rice dinner!

Phew! 😅 Don’t have to do THAT again for 364 more days! What a relief! 😉

I love this card. I was not sore about the masks. Now another must have to my next order. Thank you for a great card.

  2. Sorry I missed you last night. Your card is great with that moose and plaid. Poor Finn, hope he feels better today. Maybe he should take toe nails out of his diet…lol.

    • stampsnlingers

Hmm – why does “hoof parings” not gross me out to think of him gnawing on them…but “toenails” does!?!? LOL!! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  3. Gerri K

    Hi Mary,
Love this card. The moose is one of my favorite sets, along with the penguins.
Great pic of Finn!! Hope he’s feeling better soon.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Gerri – he is. Chicken and rice is…apparently!…a miracle cure! 🙂

  4. Great video. Sorry I missed it live. Couldn’t get home in time. Sorry to hear of Finn’s tummy upset, but certain he is getting the best of care (and spoiling). You know I love this card without my saying so! I really had to restrain myself when I placed my order.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks! I love this set, too! And yes – he’s feeling much better today! 🙂

  5. That card is awesome Mary! Love the touch of plaid and the sponged trees on the background. Bummer on being up in the night…hope that Finn is feeling much better after a day of being spoiled. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – he is. Spoiling and C-and-R. Does it every time. Thanks, Amy! 🙂
