Good morning! It’s Sunday at…some time?…in Rome. I think when you get this post, it’ll be around 1400 in the afternoon (which is totally the Department of Redundancy Department since 1400 can ONLY be in the afternoon which is why the 24-hour clock is so darned handy!).
And – we’ll probably be on the ship or close to it!
O. M. G! It’s finally here! Cruising again!! I got a real taste for being on the water (in a big ship with a comfy cabin and lots of good food!!) on the Alaska cruise last summer – and I’m very grateful to be getting a chance to do it again!!
I’ll post ship pictures tomorrow – and maybe to my FB page today – so…be watching!
My Birthday card today uses the spectacular, and also gorgeous, Beautiful Friendship and Birch background stamp sets. Take a look-see!
The layout for this one comes from this week’s Sunday Stamps sketch challenge (I turned it on it’s side…)
I started by using my Stamparatus to stamp the Birch image in Sahara Sand on a panel of Whisper White. Then I cut it down to card-front size and matted it on Seaside Spray using Liquid Glue.
I adhered a strip of the linen-look Pressed Petals Specialty DSP across the card front with Liquid Glue – then used SNAIL and Glue Dots to adhere two lengths of Rococo Rose 1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon.
On another piece of Whisper White, I stamped the hydrangea image from Beautiful Friendship twice in Seaside Spray. Then I added some Rococo Rose roses, Old Olive leaves – some full strength and some stamped-without-reinking – and some Highland Heather lilacs.
I also added the pretty sentiment in Old Olive.
I matted the panel on Seaside Spray and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I stamped two more Rococo Rose roses and a couple of Old Olive leaves on Whisper White and fussy cut them. The leaves and one of the roses is adhered with Liquid Glue – and I popped the second rose next to the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added a double-loop bow in Linen Thread and a Purple Posy 2019-2021 In Color Faceted Dot and the card front was done!
On the inside, I stamped a whole cottage garden of flowers from Beautiful Friendship in Rococo Rose, Highland Heather and Old Olive on a Whisper White panel.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Seaside Spray mat and into my Rococo Rose card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a few (okay – a lot!) more flowers on the front..
…and some more of the Pressed Petals Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Beautiful Friendship lets you garden-on-paper! No rain or weeding required! And – the cottage-garden look you can create is just gorgeous! I hope you like!
Now – off the the Lido Deck! 😉

P.S Saturday was a good day in Rome – will post more about it later – but…we only ate gelato ONCE. We had tiramisu, too. But…it was so tiny…. We went to a spot that is apparently the #1 Tiramisu in Rome. Called Two Sizes. We posited that there were two doors – a narrow one to go IN and a much WIDER one to go OUT. But – in fact it was that they had Tiramisu – in a variety of flavors (who knew?!?) – in…yes. Two Sizes. I chose small. 😉

If I were to go to Italy, I would need everything wider to come home. Yes, I like your card. The birch EF is da bomb.
LOL!! I fear that may be the case with me, too! Hoping I get myself to the treadmill on the cruise to give myself a fighting chance! Thanks, Karen! 🙂
Oh, Mary, this is a wonderful card. So very lovely. That birch background just ‘makes’ it! I had overlooked this stamp set, but now I think I MUST have it.
Yes – the flower images are wonderful!! Thanks so much, Julie! 🙂
I missed this set so will have to go look yet again! Very pretty. Love the art piece and all the flowers.
Tiramisu–yummy i didn’t know there was but one flavor! Happy cruising!
I didn’t either!! I stuck with the traditional – but…it was a hard choice! 🙂 Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂
Simply stunning Mary! Such beautiful layering and colors. 🙂
Thanks, Amy! 🙂
What a cool way to turn the sketch, Mary – love all that linen you’ve included, too! Hope you picked a good dessert – I think my downline Sarah was in that same shop, lol. Enjoy! Thanks so much for playing at Sunday Stamps!
Thanks you, Heather – I did manage to pick just ONE!! It was NOT easy! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
Mary, your card is lovely. Kind of a rustic garden look….I love it! I also love a finished inside of a card…nice touch. Enjoy your cruise. Looks delicious 🙂 Thanks for sharing with us at SUNDAY STAMPS!
