Stampin’ Up! Home To Roost By The Bay

Good morning, y’all, from “By the Bay”!

See what I’m doing here?  I figured, since I am – literally! – BY the bay, that it would be a great time to use that stamp set!  And – you remember this is a FREE-with-a-$50-purchase set during Sale-A-Bration!  For this card, I paired it up with some grasses from the Home To Roost set (ALSO a FREE SAB goody!).  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from the Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge this week!

I started with a panel of Crumb Cake cardstock and a Stitched Shapes oval that I’d cut from Vellum cardstock.  I placed them both into my Stamparatus, with the Vellum oval in position where I intended it to end up on the card front.

Then I used the Stamparatus to stamp the grasses image from Home To Roost in Crumb Cake.  I first stamped with the Vellum oval in place, then I carefully picked that up and stamped it again onto the Crumb Cake panel.

With all the ink dry, I embossed the Crumb Cake panel in the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF and matted it on Early Espresso for the card front.  I used my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker to add faux stitches.

Using Glue Dots, I added a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon over the stamped image.  Then I lined the image up on the Vellum oval and adhered it over the ribbon with more Glue Dots (being sure they’d be hidden by the sentiment oval.

On a seperate piece of Crumb Cake card stock, I stamped the seagulls image from By The Bay (had to do it – they were flying all around the Wally parking lot the other day!) in Crumb Cake Ink.  Over that I added the sentiment in Early Espresso.  Then I cut the whole thing out with a smaller oval Stitched Shapes Framelit die.

I popped the sentiment over the Vellum with Stampin’ Dimensionals, added a Blackberry Bliss Faceted Dot and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added the Home To Roost grasses in Crumb Cake to a Crumb Cake panel.  Then I added more faux stitches with the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Early Espresso mat and into my Blackberry Bliss card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Crumb Cake Home To Roost grass image on the front…

…and I added some Early Espresso paper from the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP pack to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  A bit of an homage to my current locale, heh?  By The Bay has such pretty images, as does the Home To Roost set – and they’ve come together perfectly to create a very nice masculine card, don’t you think?  How handy that you can get them both for FREE while Sale-A-Bration lasts.  Which is….like…only another 12 days or so!!  Yikes!! Hope you like!

  2. Barbara Riefner

I am enjoying the old pics as much as I enjoy when you post new ones. Just darn cute and that’s all that matters!

I also enjoy your cards and your card maps that you use to create them. You have quite a talent and I enjoy all your cards.

Thank you so much, Barbara – I’m glad that you are enjoying the cards and old pics of Finn-y! 🙂

  3. I did sea what you did there! Perry and I stayed at the Inn on Henderson’s Wharf in 1990 and had a blast. My boss left me in 1989 to become Executive Director for the Maryland Stadium Authority and was very involved with the building of Camden Yards. He wanted to take me with him but couldn’t guarantee a job for Perry so we stayed put in Albany and I had two more wonderful bosses after that. Oh, but this post isn’t about me…lol! I hope you get to do some fun things while you are there. You did not disappoint with your card today. It is a great masculine card and I think I will CASE it only by turning it into a birthday card. Good luck in the challenge it was a great design. As far as Finn goes, I do not tire of previous pictures. Have a blessed day because you are a blessing.
