Stampin’ Up! Christmas Traditions Pop-Up Gift Card Holder

Morning, y’all!  Happy Monday!  I, for one, am hoping that we woke up to some sunshine and a little warmth today.  The entire weekend was entirely too yucky for us – wet and nasty.  It was the kind of weekend where you just wanted to roll over and stay in bed.  Maybe with some kind soul bringing a cup of hot chocolate.  And maybe a cookie.

Or twelve! 😉

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video – I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me!  If not, but would like to see how to make the pop-up gift card holder we worked on, here’s the replay!  Oh – and the last 30 minutes is all 2019 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogs Sneak Peeks!  Just sayin!

If you go out on Pinterest, you’ll find all kinds of gift card holders – and several different folks with different ways to make this pop-up version.  I took my guidance from Kristy Coromandel in Australia!

I used the cute Christmas Traditions stamp set and punch from the Christmas Traditions Punch Box in the Holiday Catalog to make mine – paired with some Festive Farmhouse DSP.  Take a look-see:

But the fun happens when you slide off the 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim belly band…

This one – and the others that I made last week and will show you in a second – are made with Festive Farmhouse DSP – but obviously you could change DSPs to fit a different time of year!

I used the Christmas Traditions stamp set and Punch – which come in the Christmas Traditions Punch Box.  When you buy that set, you’ll get the 6-sentiment stamp set, the Punch, a beautiful keepsake-quality 8″ square tin box to hold your supplies or creations, and a Call Me Clover and Read Red Classic Stampin’ Spot!  Whoo-hoo!!

Each card holder starts with a 4″ x 9 1/2″ piece of DSP, scored – with your trimmer or Simply Scored board – and folded…

The solid lines are folded as “valleys” and the dotted line is a “mountain” – and it’s also where you’re going to cut to create the slot for your gift card!  The video will show you exactly what I’m talking about!

My video sample used the Christmas Traditions Punch for the middle section, but you could use almost any punch that’s the right size.   On this one, I used the Darling Label punch!

These are so quick to put together – then you can decorate all willy and nilly!

I used some 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim for the belly band and bow – and some little Mossy Meadow pine boughs cut with the Night Owl Thinlits!

Take a look at some other holders I made!

I used a Galvanized Metal Button for mine – but you could use a True Gentleman Button just as easily and it would look great!

So…I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve got some folks on my list who bamboozle me a bit when it comes to picking gifts!  And – gift cards are always right.  Always the right size.  The right color.  But…sometimes they feel (to me!) like I’m sort of phoning it in – know what I mean?  On the other hand, a fun way to present the gift card helps to make it fun and a little more personal.  This one – that pops your gift card up as soon as the gift-ee opens it – is really fun!  And made even easier with the Christmas Traditions Punch Box stamp set and matching punch!  Hope you like!

AND – the Christmas Traditions Punch Box is on SALE in the Year End Clearance!  Check it out and snap it up, y’all!

Finn Fan Fix

Something is under the recliner.

It’s not the cat.

It’s not a mouse.

It’s not a toy.

No one knows for sure WHAT it is.

But Finn, for one, danged sure means to get it OUT!

  1. Sorry that I missed your live last night! I’ll have to go watch the replay, great project!! Perfect for this time of year. 🙂 Cute Finn butt picture too…see, he’s so helpful. He’s just making sure that nothing gets left under the chair. 😉

Yes – now if I could just get him to dust, vacuum and clean the bathrooms! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Kate

    Really nifty little holders!!!
When Finn gets IT out, send him my way…there’s another one under the corner cabinet. 😕

    • stampsnlingers

We’ve got lot’s of “its” around, for sure!! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

I like the pop-up of the card holder. Hate I missed it live last night–we got almost 15 inches of snow yesterday and the accompanying loss of power for about 10 hours. Hope Finn got ‘it” out from under the chair. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

15″. Yep – that’s about 14 1/2″ too many! LOL! But – I bet it’s pretty. Well – prettier with the power back! Stay warm, my friend! 🙂 Thanks!

Hi Mary, I just watched your video, and love how easy the gift card holders are to make. Not to mention gorgeous with some of our dsp! And the new products are very, very tempting! What to get first??? So many to choose from. Thanks for the demonstration.

    • stampsnlingers

You’re most welcome, Kathy – happy that you enjoyed it! Thank you! 🙂

  5. I watched your video tonight! We finished at just about 9:00p.m.LOL! I thought that was so funny! Guess what else is funny? You and I purchased the same per-order. That is so strange since we don’t know each other. Your video helped me to make these holders for all 32 + grand kids of mine, and since they are so easy to make, it won’t take long at all to make them. So from the bottom of my heart, I say Thank you!

Glad you enjoyed it! And that it’ll help you make grand-grands gifts!! Whoo-hoo! Thank you so much! 🙂
