Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of Amy’s Inkin’ Krew team blog hop! Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month our theme is Birthdays! We can interpret that any way we want – so…be sure to check and see everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!
I decided to make a card for a tiny human’s birthday. You know – of the age where they don’t know (or care!) what they get for a present – let alone what the card looks like. Or…if there even IS a card! 😉 Which means – this card is really for the tiny human’s mother, right? So – I went uber-cute with the new Wiggle Worm stamp set and bundled Wiggle Bug Dies. And I put my bugs on a Brick & Mortar 3D embossed panel. Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.

I started with some Crushed Curry paper from the new Regals 6″ x 6″ DSP and matted it on Mossy Meadow for the card front.
For the “brick wall” – I swiped my Cajun Craze Ink Pad across the embossing side of the new Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder. Then I carefully placed a Very Vanilla panel into the folder, closed it, and embossed it in my Die Cutting machine.

I cut the embossed panel down to its final size and matted it on Mossy Meadow. Then I lightly brushed over it with an almost dry Cajun Craze-inked Sponge Dauber – just to add a little more color to the “bricks” – and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.
I cut a Mossy Meadow leaf with the Wiggle Bug Die and adhered it with Liquid Glue. The Wiggle Worm sentiment was stamped twice – once in Crushed Curry and once in Cajun Craze. I cut the Cajun Craze sentiment with the oval die from the Petals Labels Die and fussy cut the Crushed Curry “birthday” with my Paper Snips. I edged the little banner with my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it onto the sentiment with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. I stuck the whole thing onto the card front with more Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a seperate piece of Very Vanilla, I stamped a few bugs and teensy bees (LOVE!) in Tuxedo Black. I added some detail to each bug in Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze. Then I colored the bugs with my Light Old Olive, Light Daffodil Delights, Light Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends and my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker (the bees). I cut all the bugs with their matching Wiggle Bugs Dies.
I adhered the bugs and bees with Dimensionals and Liquid Glue.

I tied a little bow from new Crushed Curry 3/8″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot. Then I tucked another couple of bees underneath it – and the card front was done!
On the inside, I added a tiny little sentiment from Wiggle Worm in Cajun Craze on a Very Vanilla panel – then added a few more of the adorable two-step bees.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and into my Cajun Craze card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Wiggle Worm bug and bees on the front…

…and I put some more Crushed Curry Regals 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap – plus some more bees! 🙂

Et Voila! Not really my normal “kind” of card – but I am sort of loving this new set! The Wiggle Worm stamp set and bundled Wiggle Bug Dies…too much fun for creating all sorts of wild and crazy bugs! And – the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder. Are you kidding?? It’s perfect! I do hope you like!

New 3D Embossing Folder Plate Now Available!

The new 3D Embossing Folder Plate (item 149658) is now available to order! It’s designed to work with our new-style 3D embossing folders (which are thinner than our old-style Dynamic folders).
You can click on the picture above and open the flyer – then print it and keep it by your embossing machine and new 3D Embossing Folder Plate. It’s got your new “sandwich” information right on it!
Remember that carryover 3D embossing folders will not be available to order at the start of the new catalog but I’ll let you know when they’re available to order.
Also keep in mind that we expect to receive staggered plate shipments in all markets during June and July as we build inventory. Which means, you may experience periods of time when it is unavailable to order if inventory is depleted; it will become available to order again when inventory is replenished.
How to Use the New Plate
The new plate makes up the difference in measurement between our old-style Dynamic Folders and our new-style 3D Folders in most die-cutting machines. The 3D Embossing Folder Plate replaces the Standard Cutting Pads in your 3D embossing folder sandwich for continued high-quality emboss results.
To create your emboss sandwich:
- Use a die-cutting & embossing machine platform as a base; no matter which machine you’re using, use the standard platform which comes with your machine.
- Use the 3D Embossing Folder with your paper in the middle.
- Then use the 3D Embossing Folder Plate on top.
Given the differences in machines and platforms, you may still have to add a shim to get your desired embossing results. (You can also spritz your paper before embossing to maximize your embossed impressions.)
Without the new 3D Embossing Folder Plate, you will need to use several shims with the Standard Cutting Pad in your 3D embossing folder sandwich, depending on the die-cutting & embossing machine you use. Most machines will need between three to five sheets of cardstock to shim. Please be careful in how you shim; start out with fewer sheets first, then add sheets to get your desired results. Stampin’ Up! won’t be responsible for replacing products broken due to using a sandwich which is too thick for a machine.
