Stampin’ UP! Blooming Life in the Valley Accordion Fold Card with Video For Creative Creases #117

Good morning and Happy Fourth-of-July-Eve!  Today is the observed holiday but…TOMORROW is the real meal deal!  I hope you’re doing something fun and celebratory!!

Today’s card is a birthday card – but…not a 4th of July birthday card!  It’s a response to a request from a friend and it’s a fun fold that showcases the beautiful Valley in Bloom DSP.  Called an accordion fold, this card is business-up-front – decorated with the Lily of the Valley bundle AND the coordinating Life in Bloom bundle – and PARTAAAY on the inside!  Take a look-see:

And the layout was inspired by The Paper Players challenge this week.

You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards –  at this month’s Creative Creases Challenge! 😎 We’re ALWAYS wanting to see pretty fun folds so…I hope hope hope you’ll make one (or three!) and come share them with us! 🙂

I started with the front, using Liquid Glue to adhere a 3 1/4″ x 4 7/8″ piece of Valley in Bloom DSP on a 3 3/8″ x 5″ piece of Barely Blush cardstock and then to the front of my Blackberry Bliss card base.

Next, I adhered a 7/8″ x 3 3/4″ piece of the DSP – in a different pattern – to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used the die in the Life in Bloom set to cut a trellis from Blackberry Bliss cardstock, which I adhered to the DSP strip with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the large two-leaf image from Lily of the Valley and the large floral from Life in Bloom in Pretty Peacock ink.

I colored the large leaves with the Light Pretty Peacock and Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends.  I used the Light Granny Apple Green and Light Pretty Peacock Blends on the leaves of the Life in Bloom floral.

Using a Light Blackberry Bliss Blend, I added a little bit of color to the top of each of the flowers.

I used the Life in Bloom die to cut out a flower pot from Barely Blush 2026-2028 In Color Pearlized Paper.  And the Lily of the Valley die to cut out two Lemon Lime Twist stems.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the images and die cuts to the back of the die cut vase – and then adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered a simple white Baker’s twine bow (tied with two lengths of the twine) to the vase with a little Liquid Glue.

On a 5/8″ x 2 5/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Lily of the Valley sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink.  Then I adhered it over the bow with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Coastal Cabana Shimmering Dots and the card front was done!

Now – for the PARTAAAY inside!

I started with a 5 1/4″ x 10″ piece of Valley in Bloom DSP – I selected the perfect design to accordion-ize – cutting it to “center” the image.  Using my Paper Trimmer, I scored along the long edge at 2″, 3″, 4″, 5″, 6″, 7″ and 8″.

Starting with the 2″ score – I folded that one as a valley.  Then I folded each successive score line in the opposite direction – so….2″ (valley), 3″ (mountain), 4″ (valley), 5″ (mountain)….etc.

To insert the fold into the card – I added Liquid Glue to the back of the panel on the left 2″ side – and then adhered it to the left side of the card base.

I used Liquid Glue on the right 2″ side and adhered it to the right side of the card base.  That’s a lot harder to write than it is to do – so check out the video to SEE how to do it if the words just made it worse! 🙂

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Lily of the Valley sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink. Using the smaller label die from the Life in Bloom die set, I cut it out. I stamped the small floral from Lily of the Valley at the bottom in Pretty Peacock ink, then colored it with the Light Granny Apple Green and Light Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blends.

I used the hash-mark die from Lily of the Valley to cut from a piece of Barely Blush 2026-2028 In Color Pearlized Paper.

I used a little Liquid Glue to adhere the pink die cut to the back of the sentiment and then I adhered the sentiment to the last small “mountain” with Liquid Glue – being sure that when the card is closed – it doesn’t extend past the card base.

I added a small Coastal Cabana Shimmering Dot and…the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the small Lily of the Valley floral stamped and colored on the front…

…and more of the Valley in Bloom DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  I love how these two bundles – Lily of the Valley and Life in Bloom – work together!  Life in Bloom feels like a scrapbooking bundle – but…the stamps and dies work perfectly for cards!  And there’s no denying the beauty of the Valley in Bloom DSP, right?

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Yesterday I had a dentist appointment and thought I’d…I dunno…take a shower, wash my hair, maybe even put a little make-up on.  Didn’t want to scare anyone!

I blew dry my hair – got the make-up on – and walked back into the bedroom to find…

Hmmm.  I guess maybe I need to wash and dry my hair more often!  Poor guy assumed I was going somewhere and so he just put himself up!

Seriously, is there a better, cuter, sweeter dog ANYwhere?!

I mean.
