Happy Sunday, y’all – hope this finds you with a wonderful weekend underway! We’re headed to a wedding later today – it’s going to be hot and muggy. Very much hoping the rain gives us a break – since it’s outside!! 😳
Today’s Christmas card is a fun fold – it’s a Dutch Door fold. But…sort of “faux” – without the need for fancy Paper Trimmer work! This one is decorated with some wunnermus new Online Exclusives – coming on 1 July – called the Stitched Stocking bundle and the coordinating A Stitched Season DSP. Take a look-see:
There are lots of these out on the internet, but I took inspiration from Laurie Alexander’s – a demonstrator in Canada! – pretty fun fold!
I started with a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Old Olive cardstock that I scored and folded at 2 3/4″ – that’s the main part of the card base. The Dutch Door is a 3″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Old Olive – scored and folded at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″.
I adhered the Dutch Door panel across the bottom of the main card base – aligning the bottom of the panels – using Liquid Glue.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere a 2 5/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of A Stitched Season DSP to the top panel and two 2″ x 2 7/8″ pieces to the fronts of the Dutch Doors.
On the inside, I stamped a Stitched Stocking sentiment in Secret Sea on a Basic White panel. I stamped the little corner image in each corner in Old Olive ink. Then I adhered it to the inside of the card base.
For the stocking, I used a pencil to outline the large stocking die from the Stitched Stocking set on a piece of Basic White cardstock.
Using the dies in the Stitched Stocking die set, I cut out 10 or 11 squares – some from Real Red and Old Olive cardstock and others from A Stitched Season DSP.
Using Liquid Glue, I adhered them to the Basic White cardstock – covering the outlined stocking.
Then I used the large stocking outline die in the set to cut out the stocking.
I used both large stocking dies at the same time to cut out a Real Red “outline” and adhered it to the stocking with Liquid Glue.
I cut out a “stocking top” from Basic White cardstock and adhered it to the top of the stocking with Liquid Glue. Using the dies, I cut out two Old Olive holly leaves and a Real Red berry. I adhered them to the top of the stocking with Liquid Glue.
I used the dies to cut out some other Stitched Stocking decorations – from Real Red, Old Olive and Basic White card stock – and adhered them to the stocking with Liquid Glue.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the top portion of the stocking to the top of the card base.
I stamped a Stitched Stocking sentiment in Secret Sea ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock and cut it out with the large label die in the set. Using a Paper Trimmer – I cut both ends off the sentiment.
Then I adhered it to the stocking with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added some Secret Sea Dewdrops Embellishments and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the little Stitched Stocking corner in Old Olive on the front…
…and some more of the A Stitched Season DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Like a faux step card – this faux Dutch Door gets all the fun without the somewhat fiddly cutting and folding! It’s super easy! And the Stitched Stocking bundle – with the coordinating A Stitched Season DSP – is a quilt MAKERS – or LOVER’S! – dream! If you can dream it – you can make it. And the DSP itself is chock full of quilt-y goodness! 🙂
I hope you like!
