Good morning, y’all! Hope you had a great weekend. The wedding yesterday was nice – if hot and humid – and we enjoyed spending some time with our friends – and wishing the new couple a long and happy life!
Today’s card is…not even sort of about weddings! In fact, it’s a Halloween card. This is a little non-traditional – it’s all sparkly and pretty (thanks to some pretty new paper – the Shimmering Stripes Specialty DSP) AND cute – thanks to the not-at-all-scary spiders from the new Web of Fun bundle! Take a l00k-see:
The layout for this one was inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge!
I did a quick video on how to make this card – which is posted on Instagram. If you’d like to give that a watch – click here!
I started by adhering a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of new Shimmering Stripes Specialty DSP (available on 1 July) to a Secret Sea mat. Secret Sea is my new go-to “black” – a little softer but still with that “black” vibe!
Using the fun big die in the Web of Fun set (also available on 1 July), I cut out a Barely Blush web from 2026-2028 In Color Pearlized Paper and adhered it to the card front with little dabs of Liquid Glue.
Using the little banner die in the set, I cut a banner from a piece of Barely Blush 2026-2028 In Color Pearlized Paper.
I used the fun sentiment die to cut out “BOO” from a piece of Berry Burst cardstock – which I adhered to the banner with Liquid Glue.
I adhered the sentiment to the card front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I cut out three of the darling – sorry, guys, but you’re just not that scary! – spiders from Secret Sea cardstock and adhered them to their web with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card front was done! Boom!
On the inside, I stamped a second Web of Fun sentiment in Berry Burst on a Basic White panel. I stamped the spider hanging down in Secret Sea ink. With a Black .04 Stampin’ Journaling Pen and a straight edge, I drew his “web” down from the top of the panel. Then I stamped the big web over all of it in Barely Blush ink.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of my Berry Burst card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Web of Fun spider – and his drop-down-to-scare-you web – on the front…
…and that big Web of Fun web in Barely Blush on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I don’t do a lot of Halloween cards – but this sparkly and fun version works for me! I lvoe the cute images and sentiments – who doesn’t love die cut sentiments?!? – in the new Web of Fun bundle. And the Shimmering Stripes Specialty DSP is a fun start for this card – but…think about how awesome it’ll be for Christmas card! Wowza!! 🙂
I hope you like – and I know you’re adding these to your gotta-get-it list for 1 July! 🙂
