Good morning and happy Sunday! Hope your weekend is going well! Today is put-a-bale-of-hay-in-the-stall day so…I’m hoping it’ll maybe be a smidge warmer. Fingers crossed!
I’ve got a cool fun fold card for you today – it’s called a Pop-Up Block card and I’ve used mine to showcase the new Paradise Garden bundle and coordinating Garden Poetry DSP – both coming on 3 March in the Online Exclusives – on a pretty thank you card. Take a look see:
I first saw one that SU Demonstrator Cheryl Dorsey – who was kind enough to share the measurements with me so I didn’t have to turn my engineer brain on! 🙂
I started with a 4 1/4″ x 9 1/2″ piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock that I scored at 2″ and 4″ on the long side and folded as a z-fold (mountain, then valley). I adhered a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of new watercolor-y Garden Poetry DSP to the large back panel and a 1 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of the same DSP – this one with the pretty ombre leaves – on the front z-panel.
I put the back panel on next. I inked the large leaf from Paradise Garden in Crushed Curry ink then used a Sponge Dauber to daub the ink in (make it less intense). I used a second Sponge Dauber to add Pumpkin Pie ink near the center portions of the image. I tried to blur the lines between the colors. Then I stamped it in the corner of a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock. I stamped a Paradise Garden sentiment in Shaded Spruce and adhered it to the back of the card base with Liquid Glue.
To make the pop-ups – I cut three pieces of Shaded Spruce cardstock.
The first, 3 1/4″ x 5″, I scored at 1 1/2″, 3″ and 4 1/2″ on the long side. I folded all the score lines in.
On the middle large section, I used Liquid Glue to adhere a 1 3/8″ x 3 1/8″ piece of Garden Poetry DSP. Then I put Liquid Glue on the first section and snugged it up to the 4″ score line on the card base.
I closed the card over the top to adhere it into the card base.
Then I put Liquid Glue on the narrow end panel…
…folded the block…
…and closed the card base.
That got the first pop-up block set.
The remaining blocks went the same way!
The second pop-up block is 2″ x 4″ – scored at 1″, 2 1/2″ and 3 1/2″. The Garden Poetry DSP piece is 1 3/8″ x 1 7/8″, adhered to the middle panel with Liquid Glue.
The final, and smallest, block is 1 1/2″ x 3″, scored at 1/2″, 2″ and 2 1/2″. The Garden Poetry DSP piece is 1 3/8″ x 1 3/8″, adhered to the middle panel with Liquid Glue.
You can see how the blocks pop up.
And how it looks from the top!
For the front, I stamped three small Paradise Garden flowers in Poppy Parade ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock and cut them out with the coordinating Paradise Garden die.
On another piece of Basic White, I stamped the thank you sentiment in Shaded Spruce – and then cut it out with the larger banner die in the Paradise Garden die set.
To make the leaves, I once again inked the large leaf from Paradise Garden in Crushed Curry ink then used a Sponge Dauber to daub the ink in (make it less intense). For one leaf, I used a second Sponge Dauber to add Pumpkin Pie ink near the center portions of the image. For the second leaf, I used Poppy Parade ink for the second color. On them both, I tried to blur the lines between the colors. Then I cut them out with the coordinating die in the set.
I adhered the leaves to the front panel of the card base with Liquid Glue. Then I added a flower with Liquid Glue. I adhered the sentiment with Liquid Glue – being careful to not get it anywhere other than the front panel. Then I adhered the final two flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added some solid Crushed Curry dots from the new Garden Epoxy Dots (part of the suite and coming on 3 March) to the flower centers and three flowerdy Crushed Curry dots (same set) on the back panel – and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got a Crushed Curry and Poppy Parade leaf on the front…
..and a little more Garden Poetry DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Okay – this is such a fun fun fold, don’t you think?! I love all the movement – and the fact that it stands on its own! – and the real estate for decorating! It’s a perfect starting point for the new Paradise Garden bundle and beautiful Garden Poetry DSP!
