Stampin’ Up! Mixed Media Heart Shaped Interlocking Front Flap Card for Creative Creases #100

Good morning and Happy Friday, y’all!  It’s Super Bowl weekend!  Are you watching?  Having a Super Bowl party?  We’re not having a party but we WILL be watching – and I’ll be cheering for the Chiefs!  A three-peat would be pretty darned cool!

My card today is another fun fold for the Creative Creases Challenge – a spot where all we do is…FUN FOLDS! Yeah!  I hope that YOU’LL make a fun fold and share it with us this month! 🙂

I made a cool – and pretty easy! – fold called an Interlocking Front Flap fun fold – and it features the Heart Shaped bundle (a $120-level freebie during Sale-a-Bration!) and some stunning Mixed Media Florals DSP.  Take a look-see:

You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards –  at this month’s Creative Creases Challenge!   😎

The “love” theme was inspired by this week’s theme challenge over at The Paper Players.

I started with a 5 1/2″ x 10 3/4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Placing the long edge up, I scored at 1 5/8″ and 3 1/4″.  Then I turned the panel around 180 degrees and scored at 1 5/8″ and 3 1/4″ from the other end.

I folded the two “inside” score lines as “valleys” and the two “outer” score lines as “mountains”.

On a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the pretty heart wreath image from the Heart Shaped set in Flirty Flamingo.  Then I stamped the image again in Petal Pink – right over the top but rotated just SLIGHTLY to offset the image.  I stamped a Heart Shaped sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Then I adhered the panel to the inside of the card base with Liquid Glue.

I matted two pieces of black-and-white Mixed Medial Florals DSP on Flirty Flamingo mats using Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered them to the front narrow panels using more Liquid Glue.

The two interlocking panels are pieces of the Mixed Media Floral DSP – matted on Flirty Flamingo.

For the lower panel – I cut out three of the Heart Shaped heart wreaths – one in Poppy Parade, one in Flirty Flamingo and one in Petal Pink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the three heart die cuts – Poppy Parade first, Flirty Flamingo second and Petal Pink on the top – making sure they didn’t extend too far off the edge of the panel.

I tied a small bow using two lengths of Flirty Flamingo Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment, I stamped the Heart Shaped sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (see the video for a GREAT tip about this ink!!) on a piece of Basic White cardstock and, when it was dry, cut it out with the label die in the Heart Shaped die set – cheating the sentiment towards the RIGHT end of the die cut.

I set that panel in place on the card front and used it as a guide to placing my sentiment.  Then I snipped off the left end of the sentiment and adhered it over the bow with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut out three Basic White flowers using the die in the Heart Shaped set and added a Petal Pink Low-Profile Dot to the centers.  Then I adhered two of them to the end of the sentiment with Liquid Glue, and the third one with a small piece of Stampin’ Dimensional.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the top panel to the left front panel of the card base – making sure to only use glue on the very LEFT edge of the panel.

I repeated that with the lower/sentiment panel – placing it so that the top panel would slide UNDER it when the card was closed.

With both panels on – I added a few Brushed Brass Butterflies on the sentiment panel – and a few Petal Pink Low-Profile Dots on the top panel – and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Heart Shaped wreath – stamped once in Flirty Flamingo and again in Petal Pink (rotating it a little) – on the front…

…and more of the Mixed Media Florals DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is such a fun fun fold, don’t you think!?  Pretty easy to do and a perfect stage for some stunning paper like the Mixed Media Florals DSP that I used here (I LOVE that flowerdy paper on the top panel, don’t you?!).  And the Heart Shaped Bundle is simply gorgeous – and useful.  And FREE with a $120 purchase during Sale-a-Bration (aka – the end of February!).  Now – this bundle is not available right this second – so, if you don’t have it and want it (you DO!) – watch for its return around the week of 10 Feb!!  🙂

Finn Fan Fix

Yesterday, after my YouTube video – we headed out to go to Costco (to get the allergy pills for Cady).  We also stopped to tour a potential new vacation spot for Finn when we go on trips.  It was okay but…no.  I suspect Pet Paradise will continue to be the spot for his vacay. 🤷‍♀️

Anywho – Finn was sound asleep in the hallway outside my office.  I went into the bedroom to change into go-to-town clothes.

Still asleep.

Brushed hair.

Still asleep.

Mind you – Wayne is in the living room watching tv and I have said NOTHING to him.

Still asleep.

I go into the kitchen and get a Mt. Dew.

Still asleep,

Open a cannister (one of those pop-top jobbies – I have a TON of them with all sorts of not-Finn-Treats in them) in the kitchen.   THAT one happened to have the kennel bones in it – but…he couldn’t see that!

I walked around the corner to the hallway – and see….

Pantaloonies headed down the hall to the kennel.

He beat me there.

How did he know?  There was NO clue, y’all – I promise.

There’s really only one plausible answer.

He IS the smartest dog on the PLANET.  I’d have said UNIVERSE but…I don’t want to be accused of hyperbole….

Sorry if you thought YOUR dog held that title! 🙂

Such a pretty card! The fancy fold design is perfect, love the papers that you’ve used too! Yep…Ginny can be sound asleep upstairs and if the cheese drawer slides open, she’s right there beside me. They do have a way of just knowing stuff. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Oh yeah – Finn’s the same on …so many food sounds!! LOL! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. What a great fun fold design Mary – Thanks for sharing with us over at The Paper Players this week!

This is such a great fun fold! I just created this card using different DSP. Thanks for the inspiration!

We all know how smart Finn is…and a handsome boy, too!

    • stampsnlingers

Smart and handsome he is! Thank you, Carol – glad that you like it! 🙂

  4. Mary, your fun fold is stunning! Love all the pretty papers you used along with those 3 heart wreaths. This is certain to impress the recipient! Thanks for the detailed instructions too; it even looks like one I could make lol! Thank you for joining in over at the Paper Players this week!

    A bright, cheerful, lovely card!

  6. Wow, Mary! This fun fold really highlights these fabulous papers! Your attention to detail is always spot on. It’s a gorgeous card and I am so happy you played in my challenge at The Paper Players this week!

  7. Debbie M

What a beautiful card, Mary! I really love the choice of designer papers you used. They all coordinate perfectly. And I think Finn’s clue was the go-to-town clothes. At least that is the clue that makes my cat hide before her vet appointment! LOL Have a wonderful weekend.

    • stampsnlingers

Probably – I DID walk by him with jeans on. It’s the only thing I can think of – other than being the smartest dog on the planet! Thank you so much, Debbie! 🙂

  8. Mary, this is fabulous! I love the fun fold and your amazing directions! I need to try this. I love the mix of patterns and those dies for the hearts are so pretty! So happy you joined us at The Paper Players this week!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so much, Claire – I appreciate the kind words! 🙂

  9. Very pretty card. I like the way you mixed the Mixed Media Floral DSP with the Heart Shaped bundle. I wouldn’t have thought of that – but it works great!

  10. Beautiful card Mary. I LOVE that paper. As a wise person once said, “It’s truly Wunnermus!”

About Finn, I’m deflated. I really thought Sage held the title. NOT! Have a fantastic, wildly creative day.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! Sage can hold the title at your house – I don’t want her to feel bad!! :). Thanks so much, Rae! 🙂
