Stampin’ Up! Sweetest Star on Forever Plaid Christmas Card

Happy Happy Hawwmp Day, y’all!  Hope your week is going well!  If you’re in the path of Helena – I hope you’re getting all hunkered down – or running inland! – and will be safe in the days to come!  It LOOKS like she’s headed to Atlanta – but I’m planning on her being WAAAY less pissy by the time she gets here!

My card today skips ALL this hurricane and Fall-Not-Fall weather and goes right to Christmas!  It gets it’s traditional color inspiration from the Take a Bow 6″ x 6″ DSP and showcases the Sweetest Star bundle – with it’s darling punch!  Take a look-see:

Stampin' Up! Sweetest Star on Forever Plaid Christmas Card - Stamps-N-Lingers

I took some elements from this week’s Festive Friday challenge – vintage colors, people together (stars are people, too!), stamps (the die cuts) and enamel embellishments.

I did a quick video on how to make this one, which is posted on Instagram.  If you’d like to give that a watch – click here!

I started by stamping the snowflake-corner image from the Sweetest Star set in Crumb Cake ink in two corners of a Crumb Cake panel.  Then I embossed the panel in the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder and used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the front of a Crumb Cake card base.

I used the next-to-largest Perennial Postage die to cut out two patterns from the Take a Bow 6″ x 6″ DSP.  Then I adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped Santa and Mrs. Claus from Sweetest Star in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and punched them out with the bundled Sweetest Star punch.

I colored the images with the Dark Real Red, Light Smoky Slate, Light Basic Black and Light Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends.  Their faces are colored with the Ivory Stampin’ Blend.

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals – I adhered the happy couple (see how they’re kinda holding….points?!) to the front of the card base.

On a strip of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Sweetest Star sentiment in Garden Green ink.  With Paper Snips, I cut a banner in the right end and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a little bow from Real Red & White Baker’s Twine and adhered it to the end of the sentiment with a little Liquid Glue.

I added some Real Red & White Adhesive-backed Peppermints (I know – they’re out of stock right now so it’s mean of me to use them! But – they’re coming back around the 21st of October!) and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped the Sweetest Star snowflakes in Crumb Cake ink on a Basic White panel.  I added a sentiment in Garden Green ink and a Real Red & White Adhesive-backed Peppermint.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the Crumb Cake card base and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Sweetest Star snowflakes in Crumb Cake on the front…

…and more of the Take a Bow 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – I confess.  When I first saw the Sweetest Star bundle I sort of thought…meh!  I don’t need that!  Well – I am SO glad that I DID get it – because…seriously!?  How cute are these star-people?!?  They work so well in their Christmas garb inspired by the pretty Take a Bow 6″ x 6″ DSP.  And, of course, the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder is on my “Please carry this one over, Stampin’ Up!” list!  I love it!

Such a cute card! Love the fun Santa and Mrs. Santa images. And yeah having your toes in the water and pantaloons in the sand doesn’t quite have the same ring to it either. 😉

Oh – but it’s way better so…I totally changed it! Thanks for the inspiration! 🙂
