Stampin’ Up! Stippled Roses & Magnolias Birthday with Video Tutorial

Good morning and happy Sunday!  I hope you’re having a good weekend?  We’re just hanging and watching movies.   One quick trip to Sam’s – needed eggs and sugar (which I discovered last week AFTER I had my butter – for cookies – down at room temperature 🤦‍♀️).  So – needs must!  I assume you know we did NOT leave Sam’s with JUST eggs and sugar…right?! 🤷‍♀️ That would be silly!

My card today is a fun – and pretty! – one using an interesting die cutting technique – and the gorgeous Stippled Roses floral image.  I set it atop the new Flowering Zinnias DSP – and added a pretty sentiment from Magnolia Mood.  Both of THESE are new Online Exclusives available to you on 5 March (aka the day after tomorrow!).  Take a look-see:

I first got this idea from my teammate Sam Magie who sent me a video from Heidi at On Y Go Stamping.  I thought it was genius and immediately had to give it a go!

I started by inking the large floral image from Stippled Roses (this one is in the Jan-Apr 2024 Mini Catalog) with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink using a Small Blending Brush.  Tip: this is a DistINKtive Stamp set – and I’ve found that using a Blending Brush gives me the best and most consistent images – really letting all that pretty detail come out!).

I stamped it on a piece of Petal Pink cardstock.

I cut the image out using the die from the Stippled Roses set and then colored the flowers with the Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend and the leaves with the Light Granny Apple Green Blend.

I colored the shade marks (these stamp with the image!) with Watercolor Pencils to add some depth.  I used the Calypso Coral pencil on the flowers and the Old Olive pencil on the leaves.

For the DSP panel, I used a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Petal Pink paper from the new Flowering Zinnias DSP (an online exclusive coming on 5 March).  Using the floral die cut as a guide – I used the large die from the Stippled Roses set (the same one that cuts out the large floral) to cut just the bottom edge.

When I ran it thru my Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine – the result was this!

The bottom piece is a discard (or – keep it and come up with another project!) and the top portion I adhered to the top of my 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock.

Before adhering it in place – I laid it in place and then used it as a guide so I could stamp the Magnolia Mood sentiment in Granny Apple Green ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the die cut Flowering Zinnias DSP to the card front – aligning the top and sides.  Then I matted the panel on Granny Apple Green cardstock.

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, I adhered the Stippled Roses die cut – aligning the bottom edges of the die cut with the bottom edge of the die cut DSP.

I tied a double-loop Linen Thread bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot, added three Petal Pink gems from the Petal Pink & Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped the smaller Stippled Roses image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink – again using the Blending Brush technique to color the stamp – on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I colored the image with the Light Petal Pink and Granny Apple Green Blends and the Calypso Coral and Old Olive Watercolor Pencils.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Granny Apple Green mat and into my Thick Basic White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the small Stippled Roses image on the front…

…and more of the Flowering Zinnias DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Stippled Roses is gorgeous – and that’s in great part because of all the shading that Stampin’ Up! adds in with the DistINKtive stamp sets!!  And – the Flowering Zinnias DSP is just stunning…

…and so versatile – it’s got BRIGHT pieces and more SUBLTE pieces (like this one!).  It will be available – as will the Magnolia Mood set – on 5 March (and I know you’re chomping at the bit!!).

Finn Fan Fix

The other day, I was doing some computing in the bed – that’s the most comfortable spot these days – and I went down a YouTube rabbit hole.

It happens.  Don’t judge!

I came across a kinda cool Eagle live cam – and I started to play it.

Well – the female eagle was being very chatty – they have WAY more calls than I realized – and…someone in the other room could hear her.

He came FLYING in….

…and then she spoke AGAIN!

I feel pretty sure he was wairing for an eagle to pop up on the bed beside me.

And he was READY to SPRING into action!!

Seriously – is he not the cutest darned dog?!?
