Stampin’ Up! Artfully Layered Tropical Hideaway Birthday Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We’ve got a sketch challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table – I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

Have I ever told you guys that I love background stamps?  Well – I do.  Like Embossing Folders, I just buy them all.  Even ones that I think…”meh” about when I see them!  The Tropical Hideaway background stamp was NOT a “meh” – it was a love at first sight!  It turns out it’s pretty awesome on the Lovely Layers Vellum.  And – the outgoing Artfully Layered bundle is the perfect companion to it – yes, I said “outgoing” – sadly, it’s retiring at the end of June! 🙁  So – that’s the lineup for today’s card.  Take a look-see:

And here’s our sketch!

I started by placing one of the blank pieces of Lovely Layers Vellum into my Stamparatus.  I inked the Tropical Hideaway stamp with the Parakeet Party ink pad and stamped the vellum.  Then I used Sponge Daubers to add Garden Green and Evening Evergreen to the stamp and re-stamped the image. I stamped it a few times in order to get the amount of coverage that I was looking for.

I helped the vellum dry using the low setting on my Heat Tool. Then I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the stamped vellum to a Basic White panel.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the card front to a Shaded Spruce mat.

I used the “frond” die in the Tropical Layers dies to cut a Shaded Spruce and a Parakeet Party frond – which I adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.  Note: I actually cut the Shaded Spruce frond from the same piece of Shaded Spruce that was going to be the mat for my card front! 😉

I used a couple more Glue Dots to wind a length of Linen Thread into a loose figure-8 “bow”.

Using the two leaf stamps from Artfully Layered, I stamped a length of new Natural Finish 7/8″ Ribbon in Shaded Spruce and Parakeet Party.  I frayed the ends a little and then adhered the ribbon to the card front with a few Glue Dots.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Artfully Layered sentiment in Shaded Spruce.  Then I cut it with a Stitched Rectangle Die and popped it over the ribbon and Linen Thread with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a few Parakeet Party Fun Flowers Resin Shapes and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a couple of Artfully Layered leaves in Shaded Spruce and Parakeet Party on a piece of Basic White cardstock.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Shaded Spruce mat and into my Parakeet Party card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Artfully Layered leaves on the front…

…and one pretty leaf on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  So…whatcha think?  Are you in love?  Yes – I know you are.  The Tropical Hideaway stamp is perfect – and I love it with the Parakeet Party “base” and the addition of the other greens.  Artfully Layered.  Not gonna lie – I am REALLY sorry this one – AND the wunnermus Tropical Layers dies! – is leaving us soon!  I really love it!

I hope you like!

  4. Love the colors, the layers and how you treated the ribbon.

  5. That’s awesome Mary! Love the layering and the tropical background is perfect!! 🙂

  6. Cool card! Love the layers and the theme, but, personally, would have used Pear Pzazz or something instead of that new (too much like LLT!) green. Otherwise, I love it and will probably sort of CASE.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – I KNEW that would be your fave part of this card, Julie! Thanks! Happy sort-of-CASEing! 🙂
