Stampin’ Up! Sand & Seashells Birthday Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning! And happy Sunday!  Well?  Did you do the clock thing last night or this morning?  You either had to think “Darn, I’m going to bed awfully late”.  Or…”Darn, it’s already time for lunch and I just got up!”  Which one are you – a before bed or when you get up springer-forwarder??

If you were able to spend some of your slightly shorter weekend with me on my Facebook Live video last night, I appreciate it!  If not, here’s the replay on YouTube!

I know that you know that the star of this card is the Seaside Seashells die cut piece that is embossed in the amazing Seashells 3D Embossing Folder.  A sentiment from the bundled Friends Are Like Seashells set and some Sand & Sea DSP bring it all together!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge.

I started with a piece of the Sand & Sea DSP cut to the same size as the front of my Seaside Spray card base (this 2019-2021 In Color is going away soon, and supplies are depleting, so…be sure to stock up soon!!) and adhered it with Liquid Glue.  I adhered a second piece to a Blushing Bride mat and then to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Using the big bold die cut in the Seaside Seashells die set, I cut a piece of Pearlescent Specialty Paper.  Then I placed the die cut into the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder and ran it thru my Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine.

I popped the die cut onto the card front using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  A LOT of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals – whole and small pieces!  Seriously – how gorgeous is that Pearlescent paper embossed to look like REAL seashells??!

I stamped the Friends Are Like Seashells sentiment in Sahara Sand on another piece of the Sand & Sea DSP (the same design I’d used on the front) and cut it with a Stitched So Sweetly die.  I also used the same die to cut a piece of the Seaside Spray Sand & Sea DSP.

I adhered the sentiment die cut to the Seaside Spray Die cut to make a “matted” sentiment.

I looped some Linen Thread twice around my hand and made a figure-8 bow, which I adhered with a Glue Dot.

I popped the matted sentiment on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – added a few Champagne Rhinestones and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped a second Friends Are Like Seashells sentiment in Sahara Sand on a Very Vanilla panel – then I added some seagrass from the set in stamped-off-once Blushing Bride.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Blushing Bride mat and into the card base and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the Friends Are Like Seashells grasses in full-strength Blushing Bride on the front…

…and more of the Sand & Sea DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This Friends Are Like Seashells set, and bundled Seaside Seashells dies, are gorgeous on their own – but the fact that SU created the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder to BAMM-ify that big die cut is… purely genius!  Do all that to some Pearlescent Specialty Paper and you’ve got BIG style in a heartbeat!!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Y’all have started to figure out that much of our day (and a good portion of our evening!) revolves around getting Katy (our old kitty – realized she’s 18 years old! 🙁 ) to eat.  To that end we try to have all different kinds of enticing food available at all times – often setting out a veritable buffet!

The other day, I went to Walmart – the only place I’ve found the foods that are currenly in vogue with her – and stocked up.  Note:  one of the “new” things I got – “Salmon Gravy” was a huge and dismal failure.  Just so you know.

Anywho – when I got home, I set the bag of CANS and POUCHES….

…on the trunk in our kitchen….

…and then forgot about it being there.

A little later, sitting in my craft room – I started to hear suspicious “clicking” sounds coming from the living room.

Now – I don’t have a picture of what I discovered when I went to investigate the noise – I was too busy prying it away from “him”.

But – here’s the results of his efforts.

Apparently the cat gets ALL the GOOD food!! 👀👀👀👀

I love the card…that embossing has a huge wow factor. It was fun to watch you make it. TFS
Poor Finn, having to scavenger for food. I’m surprised he didnt go for the pouches—they’re easier to gnaw in to and much quieter.

    • stampsnlingers

I know – he’d have been in those in a heartbeat. Not challenging enough, I guess! Thanks very much, Susan! 🙂

  3. “Him” is lucky he didn’t get cut on the tin! Sorry I missed you last night but your card is beautiful.

I know! Goofy thing. Sorry to have missed you, Karen – thanks!! 🙂

Cat food: our vet recommended baby food for our cat. Chicken, turkey, lots of variety. Its really wet and mushy, and she loved it. You’re a good mom, thanks for sharing!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – we have about 10 bottles of Gerber beef in the cupboard. Some days that does the trick. Some days….nope. Not gonna eat it – get something else out, Mom! 😉 Thanks so much, Merry! 🙂
