Stampin’ Up! Dandy Garden Wishes Sneak Peak with Video Tutorial for The Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players –  Claire’s got a cool color challenge for us all … I hope you’ll come and play along with us!  While the challenge seems like a great New Year’s card – I came up with something a little different!  What will you make??  🙂

If you were able to join me yesterday for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me!  If you weren’t able to watch the live version, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

For this one, I pulled out the Dragonfly Garden stamp set and the Dragonflies Punch!  These items will be available on 5 Jan 2021 in the Jan – Jun 2021 Mini Catalog.  And – for the BIG impact – I used a piece of the Dandy Laser-Cut Paper – which is also part of the Dandy Garden Suite!  Take a look-see:

Here’s the Paper Players color challenge just in case you weren’t able to figure it out! 😉

My layout is loosely based on the Global Design Project sketch this week.

I started with a piece of Basic Black that I matted on Silver Foil for the card front.

Next, I selected a panel of the new Dandy Laser-Cut Paper and used Liquid Glue to adhere it to a piece of Basic Black card stock the same size.  Then I matted that on Silver Foil and popped it onto the card front with the Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On another piece of Basic Black cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from Dragonfly Garden in Versamark Ink, sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.

Tip:  when you heat emboss, the powder turns into a liquid-y form until it cools off.  Be careful to not stick your fingers in it.  Trust me.  It won’t run or anything, but it WILL smear/come off.  Once it’s good and cool, you’re good to go! 😉

So – when it was cool, I cut it with a die from the Tasteful Labels die set.

I cut two lengths of Black 3/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon and adhered them to the card front with Glue Dots.

Then I popped the sentiment over top with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I punched a bevy of bitty dragonflies from Silver Foil using the Dragonflies Punch.   Two of them I adhered to the sentiment with Liquid Glue and the other three I popped on with mini Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.  And – that was it for the card front!

I DID toy with adding some Rhinestones, but….held myself back!

On the inside, I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the little dragonflies and a second sentiment from Dragonfly Garden on a Whisper White panel.

I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to a Silver Foil mat and into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Tuxedo Black Dragonfly Garden dragonflies on the front…

…and a large dragonfly on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The Dandy Garden Suite – with the Dragonfly Garden and the Dragonflies Punch as an integral part! – is absolutely one of my favorite new goodies in the Jan – Jun 2021 Mini Catalog!

If you want to recreate this card – all the Stampin’ Up! products you need are listed down below along with the card cuts!

I hope you like!

Now…take a look at what the rest of the team has to offer!  Then pull out your ink and papers and have a little fun! 🙂

WHISPER WHITE CARDSTOCK IS RETIRING!

SHIMMERY WHITE 8-1/2" X 11" CARDSTOCK

Stampin’ Up! posted this update late in the day on Thursday.

Whisper White has been a Stampin’ Up! staple for so long. We love it and we know you love it, too. We are sad to announce that the supplier’s mill producing our Whisper White cardstock has permanently closed due to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, we weren’t given much notice on this closure. This means that the technology unique to this particular supplier is now unavailable to us and we can no longer offer our Whisper White cardstock and related products, such as Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes.  Please note that this won’t affect any of our other cardstocks, this only affects Whisper White.

We know Whisper White has a huge fan base; we’re big fans, too! And we are crushed that it’s going away. Even though this decision was out of our hands, rest assured that we jumped right into action to find the best replacement paper possible. We have dedicated many hours to source and test alternative cardstock options from several suppliers to find the perfect fit that still maintains the Stampin’ Up! quality you know and trust. We are happy to share that we have found a winner for our new cardstock, Basic White!

The quality of our new Basic White was thoroughly tested by our quality assurance and product teams. It also tested very well with demonstrators and concept artists who gave it a huge thumbs up. We believe in the quality of the new Basic White cardstock and we know it will become your new crafting staple!

What does this mean for you?

With Whisper White going out of production, this means a number of Whisper White products will be affected.  Below is a list of all products that will be replaced with our new Basic White cardstock. These items are now available while supplies last with an order limit of 2 per item per order.

Our new Basic White products will become available to purchase as soon as we have them in stock. This means that some Whisper White and Basic White products may be available at the same time. Additionally, due to the nature of sourcing, some Basic White products may not be available before the Whisper White products sell out. Please know that we are working on getting these products available to you as fast as possible.

We also have a video message addressing some potential concerns that you may have. This video goes over a comparison of Whisper White to Basic White so you will know what to expect with this change. You can watch the video here.

It’s always hard to say goodbye, but we are excited about the new Basic White product line and we encourage you to try it out! We are confident that you’ll love it just as much as we do.

  1. Such a pretty card! Love the clean layers and the colors are perfect! As for Finn…I’m sure that it’s you that he loves the mostest…but the leftovers might take a close second. 😉

    Great card!
Finn is only aussie I know with a cauliflower addiction!?!

And salad. And carrots. He’s a broad-spectrum eater!! ROFL! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  3. Pretty card! What was in the bowl? He looks quite content and I know he loves you because the way to his heart is through his stomach…he is a man after all 😀

    • stampsnlingers

Well – it was either salad or something with cauliflower rice. He’s not picky – it it’s in a bowl or on a plate – he’s more than happy to lick it till it’s spotless! LOL! Thanks much, Karen! 🙂

This is stunning Mary! I love the layering and great inspiration for using this set (I’m not a fan of the DSP colour combo for the Dandy Garden papers, so this is a great way to showcase it in an alternative way). Thank you so much for guesting with us over at The Paper Players this year – I have loved each and every one of your creations. Don’t be a stranger – we would love to see you continue to play along and I’ll be sure to pop buy from time to time to check out your creations! Merry Christmas wishes to you!

Thank you so much and I have enjoyed creating alongside you. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and all the best in the coming year. Big hugs to you…and sweet Finn, too.
