Stampin’ Up! Coming Home Tag Buffet Fun Fold Christmas Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning and happy Friday!  Okay – believe it or don’t – Halloween is tomorrow (also the last day of the DSP Sale!)!  Where has this year gone?  I know it’s been a rough one for so many folks – so…I won’t be sorry to see it go.  But…it has REALLY flown by! 🙂

If you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube live, I appreciate you spending some time with me – if not, but you’d like to see the replay, here ’tis! 🙂

I found this cool easel card as I was perusing the interwebs – there are a few videos out there – but I used the one from Stamptastic Designs as my jumping off point!

Mine is made with the fun Coming Home stamp set and bundled Home Together Dies – plus a sentiment from the Tag Buffet set.  And – of course, some of the super-cute Trimming the Town DSP (on sale thru tomorrow!!).  Take a look-see:

Right?  How cute is that??

I started with a regular 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ Poppy Parade card base – scored at 5 1/2″ on the long side (just like usual).  Then – using my Paper Trimmer – I cut at 1 1/4″ and again at 4 1/4″ along the short side – cutting only as far as the score line.  Then I scored the larger middle flap at 2 1/8″ (this is the easel).  It’s pretty easy to see in the video! 🙂

I used Liquid Glue to adhere two strips of Trimming the Town DSP (the one with the Christmas trees on it!) to Old Olive Mats – and then onto the two side strips.

With Stampin’ Seal – I stuck the two side flaps to the back panel of the card base.

I adhered a larger – Polka Dot design – on Old Olive and used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the inside (under the easel.

I also adhered the same paper – with Old Olive mats – two each of the easel panels.

On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the two-story house and the card from the Coming Home set in Early Espresso and two large and two small trees in Old Olive.  I colored the house with my Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend for the walls, Dark Crumb Cake for the roof, and Light Cinnamon Cider for the door and chimney.  The trees used the Light and Dark Old Olive Blends and the car is the Light Misty Moonlight.

Then I cut them all with their matching die in the Home Together set. I also cut a second – blank – Whisper White house die – that I adhered to the back of the colored die cut with Liquid Glue (to hide the Blends bleed-thru!).

I used Liquid Glue on the bottom half of the house and then adhered it to the bottom half of the easel.  I added the trees with Liquid Glue or Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals – then popped the car between the trees with a Dimensional.

I stamped a Tag Buffet sentiment in Poppy Parade on Whisper White and punched it with the Everyday Punch.  Under it, I added the little pine bough (from Tag Buffet) in Old Olive.  Then I popped it onto the inside panel with Dimensionals.  It’s the easel holder-upper.

I added a Pool Party Holiday Rhinestone – and the card front was done.

On the back, I added a couple of Coming Home trees in Old Olive.  Then I adhered fussy cut pieces of the sentiment from one of the fun papers in the Trimming the Town DSP.  I added a Pool Party Rhinestone to the top of one of the trees.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Old Olive mat and onto the back of the card – and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Coming Home trees on the front…

…and more of the Trimming the Town DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  I don’t know what I like more about this card – the center-easel fun fold itself or the sweet little city-scene I was able to create with the Coming Home bundle with help from the Tag Buffet sentiment!

Or is it the fun Trimming the Town DSP – which is on Sale thru tomorrow?  It’s really hard to say!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

I’m guessing this looks like two horses tied to a wall.

And – well.  Yeah.  That’s what it IS.

Sort of!

This is a Rainy Day training session.

Finn – at the end of the aisle – is learning to stay out of the main aisle when the girls are out.  It’s a safety thing.

The ladies are learning…the hardest.  Thing.  Ever.

Know what it is?

Yep.  PATIENCE!

How to deal – quietly – with being bored.

It ain’t easy, my friends!

Boredboredboredboredboredbored.

But – when they “get” it…

See her right hind foot?  Toe resting on the ground (aka – she’s “got a hip cocked”).

Means she’s relaxed and coping.

For a second.

Had to take the picture really fast!  ROFL!

  1. Such a cute card! Love the fun fold design and the sweet designer paper that you used! 🙂 Training in being bored…definitely not fun!! Hope that they all got a few treats afterward. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Nope – it makes them antsy to just stand tied with nothing being done to/with them!! Thanks much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Cute cards! Cute girl!!

  3. I obviously don’t know much about horses. I thought they were patient, not that you had to teach them patience.
Like this card. Cute theme and love the easel. Sorry I missed the video. Will watch later.

Some are more so than others. But – they’re like toddlers – they bore easily! So – like toddlers – they have to learn how to cope when they get bored! Thanks much, Julie – hope you enjoy the video if you get a chance to watch it! 🙂

  4. Gerri K

    Hi Mary,
I understand your safety training. I started following your blog when Finn got kicked in the head by one of your horses. I believe that was a few years ago. It took him awhile to recover and I checked your blog every day to see how he was doing. Of course in the meantime, I fell in love with your card making. Today’s card is so sweet. Love the Coming Home stamp set.

    • stampsnlingers

It was a few years – and yes, a lot of additional training has been put in place to keep it from recurring. WAY too scary! Thank you so much, Gerri – I’m glad you found me – and stayed! 🙂

  5. yep… horses and patience… not something I’ve normally seen in my horsey days 🙂 I love all those wonderfully layered leaves, Mary. Especially paired with that fabulous DSP. thanks for rocking my challenge this week
    hugs

Thanks so much, Jaydee – it was a fun sketch! And yep – patience is an advanced maneuver! 🙂
