Stampin’ Up! Today’s Boho Field Tiles with Video Tutorial for The Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – it’s a color challenge from Joanne – and…not going to fib ya – it pushed me out of my comfort zone – which is good for us, right?  🙂  I know it’ll give your creative mojo a bump, so I hope you’ll come and play along with us!  🙂

If you were able to join me yesterday for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me!  If you weren’t able to watch the live version, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

I thought of the Boho Indigo DSP right away when I saw the challenge colors – and worked out how to let it be the “cake” – with the rest of the colors as the “icing”.  I decided to play with the Today’s Tiles stamp set along with elements from the Boho Indigo Product Medley…take a look-see:

And here’s our Paper Players color challenge badge!  Come play!

I also pulled design inspiration from this week’s Global Design Project CAS(E) The Designer challenge.

I started with a mosaic-looking paper from the Boho Indigo DSP that I matted on Melon Mambo for the card front.  I matted a piece of the pretty, embossed Very Vanilla cardstock from the Boho Indigo Product Medley and added it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I cut the large medallion die from the Field Tiles Die set in Night of Navy and again in Pool Party.  The Night of Navy die cut is adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Using a few Glue Dots – where they’re hidden by the other pieces of the design, I adhered a Gold Hoop Embellishment.

I snipped out the center section of the Pool Party die cut and popped it over the hoop with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut two smaller labels with the Field Tiles dies – the larger in Mango Melody and the smaller in Very Vanilla.  I stamped the Today’s Tiles sentiment on the Very Vanilla label in Pool Party Ink.

I adhered the Mango Melody cut with Liquid Glue and popped the sentiment on top with a couple of Dimensionals.

Using a Glue Dot, I adhered a small bow that I tied with the Night of Navy 1/8″ Ribbon from the Playing With Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack.  I stuck a sweet Paper Flower – from the Boho Indigo Medley – with a little bit of Liquid Glue.

Finally – I added a few light blue gems from the Holiday Rhinestone Jewels and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Today’s Tile sentiment in Pool Party on a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I added a flower image from Boho Indigo in Night of Navy – and a Melon Mambo-matted strip of the DSP across the bottom of the panel.  I stuck some of the Holiday Rhinestone Jewels into the middle of the flowers, too.  Just cuz I could! 😉

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Melon Mambo mat and into my Mango Melody card base, adhered the card front with Liquid Glue and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got some Boho Indigo flowers on the front…

…and I added some more of the mosaic-y patterned paper to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I was pretty happy with how this turned out – I like the pops of orange and pink with the cream and Night of Navy, don’t you?  The Today’s Tiles stamp set – is cool – and has some neat sentiments!  Plus I really like the layering possibilities with the Field Tiles dies – bundled with Today’s Tiles for a 10% Savings!

And the Boho Indigo Product Medley is just…wunnermus!!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

After all Finn’s work – keeping the squirrels and chippies and other marauders as far away as he can dog-e-ly do….

This.  Happened.

I’m pretty sure it’s a chipmunk.  Or squirrel.  But…we told Finn a little white lie – told him it’s a rare tomato-eating Dementer – and there’s no protecting from them.

Just to protect his feelings….

  1. Pretty card! Those colors are a little rough, but you’ve used them perfectly! 🙂 Poor Finn and poor tomato! Pretty sure that those tomato-eating dementors are a real thing. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

I’m sure they are, too – and there’s simply no defense! Bring the maters in as soon as they start to get a little blush of red!! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Love all the layers…awesome use of the challenge colors!!

  3. Mary, this is just fabulous! I love the little pop of Melon Mambo and the DSP is fabulous! Namaste is a favorite word of mine to think when I am going 100 mph! LOL! Love this fabulous creation! Have a great week, My Friend!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so much, Claire – I really like this set! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  4. You put all these beautiful elements together with such perfection, Mary, I loved checking out each layer. What a gorgeous card!

  5. Joanne James

Well this card really is the icing on the cake Mary – a fabulously layered creation and the perfect way to showcase this week’s colours!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you, Joanne! The colors sorta stumped me for a minute! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  6. Ann Wilcox Schach

What an amazing card, Mary! You were able to use the challenge colors perfectly. I will admit, I struggled with them. I love the layers. As for Finn, you are lucky he is not a tomato eating dog. I am not saying which one (ahem, Muffy), but we have a Boxer who loves tomatoes! But then again, said Boxer does eat anything…

    • stampsnlingers

ROFL! Okay – that IS weirder than Finn eating horse carrots!! I do NOT think I’ll see what he thinks about tomatoes!! 🙂 Thanks so much, Ann! 🙂

  7. Allisa

Such a gorgeous card, love the bold patterns! I am sure Finn is an awesome garden protector….one just manged to sneak by him!

    • stampsnlingers

Those dementors ARE sneaky!! Nothing he can do… 😉 Thanks so much, Allisa! 🙂

  8. Mary, I love the pops of pink and how you chose to really showcase the navy and mango. I really think I need this stamp set. I keep going past it, but your card has proven that I shouldnt!
