Stampin’ Up! Way to Goat Birthday with Video Tutorial for The Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – it’s a sketch challenge from Claire this week and it’ll for sure jump-start your creative mojo!  I hope you’ll come and play along.  🙂

If you were able to join me yesterday for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me!  If you weren’t able to watch the live version, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

I used the new and totes adorbs Way To Goat stamp set with new 2020-2022 In Color DSP and the Stitched So Sweetly Dies for this fun and easy card.  Take a look-see:

And here’s this week’s Paper Players Theme challenge!  Hope you’ll join the fun and show us your projects!  I can’t wait to see what you create!

And I played along with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from this week – I went down across the diagonal left-to-right!

From the moment I saw the Way To Goat stamp set in the new catalog, I’ve wanted it.  Not for the G.O.A.T. piece – although that’s pretty cute and au currant.  No – it was because as soon as I saw the goats I heard Julie Andrews singing Lay ee odl lay ee odl lay hee hoo!!

LONELY GOATHERD ... SINGER, JULIE ANDREWS ... FILM, SOUND OF MUSIC ...

You see it, right? 😉

I started with some polka-dot Misty Moonlight paper from the 2020-2022 In Color 6″ x 6″ DSP and used Stampin’ Seal to mat it on Bumble Bee for the card front.  I wrapped some sparkly Misty Moonlight/Silver twine from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack three times around the panel – securing it in the back with Glue Dots.

I used my Stamparatus to stamp the goat-with-flower image from Way To Goat in Tuxedo Black on a piece of Whisper White.  Then I cut it with a Stitched So Sweetly rectangle die.

I colored her with my Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends Combo.  Her hair is…of course!…colored with my Light Misty Moonlight blends and her horns with the Ivory Blend.

I cut a same-size Stitched So Sweetly rectangle from Bumble Bee 2020-2022 In Color DSP and then adhered the goat-girl to that, slightly offset, with Liquid Glue.

I used Glue Dots to adhere a figure-eight looped bow of Flowers For Every Season sparkly twine.

On another piece of Whisper White, in Misty Moonlight, I stamped a Way To Goat sentiment.  I cut it – and a Bumble Bee DSP mat – from a smaller Stitched So Sweetly Rectangle die and adhered them together with Liquid Glue.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals – some double-stacked to accommodate the bow – to adhere the sentiment to the card front.

Using my Light Magenta Madness Blend – I colored one of the small Paper Flowers from the Boho Indigo Product Medley, and adhered it over the stamped flower with a Glue Dot.  If you don’t have the medley – get it at once!  Seriously.  Or…you could just color the flower with the bullet-tip end of your Stampin’ Blend.

I adhered a Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the sentiment and the card was done!

On the inside, I added a second Way To Goat sentiment in Misty Moonlight on a Whisper White panel.  In the corner, I used my Stamparatus to stamp what is – obviously! – the Mama goat in Tuxedo Black. I colored her the same as flower-girl on the front!

I use Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to a Bumble Bee mat and into my Misty Moonlight card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got Mama on the front – and a Misty Moonlight sentiment.  Cuz I love it…

…and more of the 2020-2022 In Color 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.  And mama and another sentiment.  I had to put her on here with her side-eye….. just had to…

Et Voila!  I think Way To Goat may be one of the cutest stamp sets ever!  I just love it – and I hope you love it, too!

So…today is the 28th.  There are only 30 days in June.  Which means – you’ve got like….three days (I am a math WHIZ!!) to take advantage of the amazing Pick a Free Bundle Starter Kit Promotion!  I would so love to have you join us!!  Give me a holler with questions or….to get signed up now! 😎

Finn Fan Fix

One of the first things I taught Finn – and one I insist on with him – is to sit and wait when we’re getting into a vehicle – until I tell him to Load.  And – more importantly, when we’re getting OUT somewhere, he knows to sit and wait – even as the van/car/truck door is opening – until I tell him Out.

This is not only the polite way to behave – nothing annoys me more than a dog who is bouncing and carrying on to get in or out of a vehicle.  And nothing on earth is more dangerous – to THEM – than leaping from the car as soon as a door opens.

Which is all a lead up to this.

Looks pretty straightforward – but….what HE is seeing is…

Dog-crack.  A place he wants to be worse than almost anything.

So this….

Is Finny being a Very.  Good.  Boy.

And then…Load!

Soooo happy to be going….ANYWHERE!!

And the nicer thing is – he just lays down in the back and rides.

He really is the best dog on the planet. 🙂

Also?  Possibly the cutest.

  1. Finn IS all that! He even has his Altoids with him 🙂 Seriously, I cannot be buying everything in the catalog but you are certainly enabling me to add to my July order! I LOVE your card, especially the offset rectangles. I need to have this set for my Gretl…she turns 50 in October so she’ll be an “old goat”. Sorry I wasn’t able to stay for the end of the video but I’m thankful I can watch after the fact. Have a blessed Sunday!

    • stampsnlingers

What a perfect birthday card for her! And….let me tell you. He can occasionally USE an Altoid! 😉 Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  2. Hi Mary! I wasn’t able to catch your entire live last night, but watched the replay. This stamp set always makes me laugh. So darn cute! Your card is adorable! I really like the colors you used. Thanks for sharing! PS-Finn is the cutest dog ever!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Pam – love this set! And yes – I think he’s pretty darned cute! 🙂

  3. Such a cute card! Love your sentiments and the fun images…but I still don’t see the resemblance to to creepy plastic faced goats from the movie… 😉 Finn is such a good boy! Now if you’d just hurry up and get that truck moving…places to go and people to see! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

      Oh – it’s TOTALLY there. You’re goat-blind! 😉 Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  4. Gerri K

Finn IS the best dog on the planet. Wish I could send you my two so you could get them to behave better. lol

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you, Jaydee! And thanks for taking time to come by! 🙂

  6. Super cute card! Your bows are always such a great addition to your cards! So glad that Finn was able to go for a ride. My dog is fairly certain the sky is falling if he does not get to go anytime the car leaves without him!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – the look of sheer disappointment is hard to handle, for sure!! Thanks so much, Allisa! 🙂

  7. Stef Perry

I was right there with you hearing Julie singing LOL when I saw this set! You’ve made such a fun card with it too Mary, and that matching envelope made me laugh! So clever!

Finn is such a good boy and gorgeous too, those eyes would melt anyone’s heart for sure!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks much, Stef! Appreciate it. And yes – he uses his eyes to full advantage! 🙂

  8. LOL, I think this goat set is funny….my BIL used to tell a story about a woman he was doing a job for (he’s in construction); he told her to “go ahead” and do something, and she said “Did you just call me a goat head?” I guess you had to be there, but we crack up every time he says ” go ahead”!! Anyway you can go ahead and make a card with this set any time, it will definitely bring a smile to whoever it receives it!

    • stampsnlingers

Oh – that’s funny! Yep – I was calling you a GoatHead! ROFL! Thanks – now I’ll think that whenever I hear “go ahead”! 😉

  9. Oops, and I forgot to say thanks for playing with the Tic Tac Toe challenge too!♥

  10. Joanne James

I love this goat set too Mary – and yes, I too thought of that song as soon as I saw it – hee hee! Love the pop of yellow from the layer behind and the polka dot paper. Such a fun card and perfect for our tic tac toe board this week too!

    • stampsnlingers

Right?! That is THE goat, I just know it! Thanks much, Joanne -appreciate you taking time to come by! 🙂

  11. Ann Wilcox Schach

Oh my gosh, Mary! How cute is this! I was going to try and resist this set, but after seeing this card, I just might have to add it to my next order. I love those offset panels, too! A wonderful card that will brighten up someone’s day!

    • stampsnlingers

Gotta have, Ann! It’s just too cute! Thanks so much. 🙂

  12. Adorable card, Mary! I love the bright and happy colors and the twine accent is a fun touch. Finn is such a cutie!
