Stampin’ Up! Prized Peony for the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop

Happy Happy Hawwmp Day!!  And welcome to another edition of the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop.  All our blogs go live at the exact same time – regardless of where in the WORLD the hopper is located!   I hope you’ll sit down and spend a little time with us – regardless of where YOU are in the world! 🙂  I know you’re going to see some awesome projects!

This month’s focus is on the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog!  Favorite things – inspiration – whatever makes us get all warm and fuzzy when we think about it.  I am ALWAYS drawn to the flowers.  Stampin’ Up! does flowers real good – and this catalog is no exception!  One of my favorites is…the stunning Peony Garden Suite!!  I used the Prized Peony bundle and a little bit of Peony Garden DSP.  Plus…the returning Woven Heirlooms stamp set.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from the current Mojo Monday challenge!

I started with a piece of Gray Granite card stock and embossed it in the new Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder.  Then I cut it down to size and adhered it to the front of my Gray Granite card base with Liquid Glue.

I used one of the white/Gray Granite designs in the Peony Garden DSP and colored it with my Light Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blend and my Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends Combo pack.  Then I matted it on Petal Pink and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

The cross-panel is another, Petal Pink-matted piece of the Peony Garden DSP, adhered with more Liquid Glue.

Then I adhered a new Square Vellum Doily with Liquid Glue.  Over the top of that, using a Glue Dot, I wound some of the gold twine from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack.

To make the flower – I used the four dies in the Peony Die set and cut one of each from another piece of Peony Garden DSP.

The flower goes together in layers – starting with the smallest of the pieces – and adhering them together with Liquid Glue.  Slide piece 1 into piece 2 – adhere. Slide that into piece 3….and on until all the layers are adhered together.

Tip:  See the arrows pointing the notches in the die cuts?  Line up all the notches as you put it together and it’ll all work out!

Once the parts were all together – I curled the bottom petals with my Bone Folder and used my fingers to “plump” up the rest of them.  Then I stuck Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals here and there amongst the petals.  Tip:  I didn’t take the top cover off the dimensionals – I just wanted the petals supported, not stuck down. 😉

I used a sponge dauber to lightly shade the edges of the petals with Petal Pink ink.  Then I stuck two flower centers cut from So Saffron into the middle of the petals.

I cut several of the leaves die cuts in Soft Sea Foam card stock and Soft Sea Foam paper from the Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP and adhered them together with Liquid Glue.

Then I built the collage using Liquid Glue to adhere all the pieces and parts.

I tied a bow from Gray  Granite 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

The sentiment, from Woven Heirlooms, is stamped in Gray Granite on Whisper White and fussy cut.  Then I adhered it with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A few new Elegant Faceted Gems finished off the card front.

On the inside, I stamped a second Woven Heirlooms sentiment in Gray Granite on a Whisper White panel.  I added two peony images from Prized Peony in Gray Granite and colored them with my Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends Combo and Light So Saffron Blend.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Petal Pink mat and into the Gray Granite card base and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another peony on the front…

…and more of the Peony Garden DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Isn’t that Peony stunning!?  I promise it’s not as hard as the written explanation makes it sound.  Promise.  We’ll do one soon on a video and you’ll see!  So…go ahead and get this bundle RIGHT NOW – and you’ll be all ready!

The Prized Peony stamp set has great sentiments – I just wanted slightly different ones for this card – and the Woven Heirlooms is one of my favorites!

And the gorgeous Peony Garden DSP – in Petal Pink, Basic Gray, Gray Granite and White – is elegantly beautiful!

I hope you like and are adding this Suite to your Must-Have list!

  1. Beautiful card Mary. I especially like the coloring of the peony inside the card – Petal Pink and So Saffron!!

  2. Oh, my, goodness. I think you and Amy are in cahoots for me to place this on my next order. My first order from June 3 is still picking! I was so delighted when you said you’d be doing a video. The gray granite and petal pink are lovely together and your peony reminds me of mine back north. The only thing I don’t miss is the ants that used to congregate in the petals! Whoever receives your card will be deeply touched. You never cease to amaze me with your collages and ideas.
