Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Parisian Poppies Double Flip Fun Fold!

Good Friday morning, y’all!!  Another week – done!   Did it feel shorter (and hence…better!) with the Monday holiday??

If you were able to join me for my YouTube Live Video yesterday –  I appreciate you spending some of your day with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

I saw this Double Flip-Fold card on France Martin’s blog and thought it was so fun and easy….which it totally is!  I decided to use the Peaceful Moments Bundle and Painted Poppy stamp set – combined with gorgeous Parisian Blossom Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

The front of the card was already close to the FUSION sketch challenge this week – I simply modified the position of the flip portion (sliding it to the rigth instead of centered like a “normal” double-flip).  That gave me more room to collagify!

I started with the “first” card base – Basic Black at 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ and scored and folded it at 5 1/2″.  The “Flip” is Basic Black, 3″ x 8 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″.

I used the gorgeous Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP on the front short panel of the first card base and on the inside back – both pieces are matted on Pool Party and adhered with Liquid Glue.

On the flip card base, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiments from Peaceful Moments in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on two Whisper White panels.  On the inside panel, I also stamped two of the flowers from the Painted Poppies stamp set in Basic Gray – then I colored them with my Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends Combo.   I matted each on Pool Party and adhered them inside the smaller flip card base.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the small card inside the larger card base.

For my collage, I used multiple dies from the Poppy Moments Die set to cut my flower and a bevy of leaf parts.  The flower has a solid piece of Petal Pink (I used a Sponge Dauber to ink the edges with Petal Pink ink) then I adhered a Basic Gray detailed flower with Liquid Glue. I cut a large flower center from Champagne Foil and adhered it with Liquid Glue, then I popped a smaller Black Foil center on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the leaves, I cut solid and detailed leaves in Pool Party and Champagne Foil, and also in Pool Party vellum from the So Very Vellum Specialty DSP (coming on 3 March in the second Sale-A-Bration Release!).  I glued the leaf parts together and then…started doing my dry-fit on the front of the card (which is the front of the smaller flip card base!

When I was happy – I took a picture with my phone…

Then I picked up the flower and took a second picture.

I adhered all the leaves with Liquid Glue.

Using Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine, I made a loose double-loop figure-eight (I show this in the video!) and stuck it in the middle of the leaves with a couple of Glue Dots.  Then I popped the flower over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewel – and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Painted Poppies flower in Basic Gray and Petal Pink on the front…

…and a little more Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This Double-Flip Fun Fold is crazy easy so I hope you’ll try it soon!  I also wanted you to see how well the Peaceful Moments and Painted Poppies Bundles work with other papers like this Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP!  The Peaceful Poppies DSP is gorgeous but…don’t be afraid to mix-and-match!  I hope you like! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

On Wednesday, we picked up a new toilet.

Yes – the life of a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is glamourous, indeed.

We’ve needed a new toilet for a minute – in our second bathroom.

By minute, I mean…well.  A MINUTE!

FINALLY broke down and paid for a “special order” toilet.  Meaning – we wanted it in bone.  Seriously?!?  BONE is a “special order”?!?

Why yes.  Yes it is.

Anywho – we finally got it.

So the menfolk put it in on Wednesday evening.

Gettin’ that old one out’s gonna be a booger, Dad.  You’re prolly gonna get wet!

Wiggle it, Dad – you gotta get it down on that wax thingy!

Doya need a tool or anything??  I’m a little thirsty…..how much longer were ya thinkin’??

Hmmm.  Those’r some complicated directions.  Why we reading directions??  We MEN!  Don’t need no stinkin’ directions!

Mary’s note:  that last picture is probably Pulitzer worthy.  Rare sighting of y-chromosomes reading instructions!

  1. I don’t think I’ve seen that fold before…I kinda like it. Your colors and design are wunnermous AND I’m grateful for instant replays! I have learned not to be sipping my coffee while scrolling down to see Finn Funantics. This one was one of the best and is worthy of a Pulitzer Prize 🙂 Have a blessed weekend!!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Karen! Hope you can keep from snorting coffee – in OR out!! 🙂

  2. Such a pretty card! Love the colors and design! And the video was fun too! 🙂 What…two men together READING the instructions??? So glad that you caught this monumental occasion on camera! 😉 Finn does look like he’s helping quite a bit. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

I KNOW! Never before and likely never again! Like…the planets aligning or something! Thanks very much, Amy – glad you enjoyed it! 🙂

  3. Charlotte Hutcheson

You have such a great sense of humor…I laughed out loud reading about Finn, your husband and the new toilet. My husband is going to install a new garbage disposal and I hope to be gone as he knows only a few “construction words” and they get boring. As you said, the life of a paper crafter is indeed thrilling. Hugs, Charlotte Hutcheson

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – right?!? Garbage disposal WAY more annoying than toilet – a little lighter maybe – but…up under the sink? Yikes! Yes – clear out. Find somewhere ELSE to be! Thanks, Charlotte! 🙂

  4. Laurie

Your card is stunning! Thanks for linking it up to the Fusion challenge.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Laurie – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  5. Faith Simpson

Hi Mary, I missed the ‘live’ YouTube but thoroughly enjoyed watching it last evening. It is a lovely card, and that was a thoroughly fun ‘live’. I prefer the poppies in a lighter color like you used. And I LOVE the fun fold. I am wishing StampinUp would do a suite with Pansies….just like the Poppies…..but Pansies!! Do you have clout anywhere??? Just askin……
Glad Wayne had such good help getting the toilet in…..that can be a bugger job.

    • stampsnlingers

Oh gosh, YES!! Pansies would be wonderful!! If I HAD any pull I’d sure use it to get pansies on the horizon! 😉 Thank you so much, Faith! 🙂

  6. Elisha Smith

Really cool card – I’m gonna hafta CASE it😆 You’re so lucky to have TWO handymen 🤣 The fuzzy looks like he might be all thumbs tho😉

    • stampsnlingers

Actually he’s all NO-thumbs!! ROFL at my ownself!! Thanks so much, Elisha! 🙂

  7. Karen Andrews

Love the cards, but the instructions photo and y-cromozones comment….well they’re just pricelesd.

  8. Gerri K

I just love your Finn stories!!
This card is beautiful! Haven’t gotten the Poppy bundle yet but it’s on my list.

    • stampsnlingers

These two bundles work hand-in-hand with each other. I love them! Thanks so much, Gerri! 🙂

  9. Genie

Beautiful card. Wonderful story. Still chuckling.

  10. Susan K

I’ve been gone to warmer waters (ha! Missed the snow here!) so am catching up on cards and FFF. Absolutely love this card and laughed out loud at your priceless narration of the boys’ adventure! TFS.

    • stampsnlingers

So glad you missed the winter weather (for a minute!). Welcome home! Thanks very much, Susan – glad you got a chuckle! 🙂
