Stampin’ Up! Beautifully Braided Borders for The Paper Players

Hey y’all – happy Sunday!

I’m sorry about last night – I hate missing our Facebook Live sessions! 🙁  And the weather stayed relatively tame for us – a lot of rain and wind and lightning.  Power DID stay on – but…we really never know, right?  I had my battery lantern right handy!  So – it did seem safer to cancel than to have the lights go out right when I was putting on my 4th dimensional! You’d never know how MANY dimensionals I put on!!  The not-knowing would have just eaten you up!! 😉

The card you WOULD have seen me make uses the new Beautifully Braided bundle and the color scheme is from this week’s The Paper Players challenge.  Take a look see!

And here’s this week’s Paper Players challenge!

I hope you’ll join us and show us your projects! 🙂

I also borrowed a layout from the TGIF Challenges sketch.

I started with a piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock that I embossed in the new Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder and matted it on Old Olive for the card front.

I used the Braided Border Punch to cut “braids” from Vellum card stock and Rich Razzleberry paper from the Royals 6″ x 6″ DSP.  I snipped the braids into 3 – 4″ lengths and then…adhered them like pick-up-sticks on the card front with Liquid Glue!

You can see that I used both sides of the DSP – the different designs add extra texture and interest to the monochromatic background.  I think! 🙂

I wrapped some Linen Thread twice around the card front – securing it in the back with Glue Dots.

For the sentiment panel, I stamped the Beautifully Braided sentiment in Poppy Parade on Whisper White.  Next to it, in Old Olive, I used my Stamparatus to add the large floral outline image.

I added the painterly fill-in image with more Old Olive.

Then I cut it out with the largest label-die in the Stitched So Sweetly Die set and popped it over the Linen Thread with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A double-loop Linen Thread adhered with Glue Dots and some Poppy Parade and Gold sequins from the Peaceful Poppies Sequin Assortment adhered with Liquid Glue finished off the card front.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Beautifully Braided in Poppy Parade on a Whisper White panel.  Then I used my Stamparatus again to add the big floral image in Old Olive.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Old Olive mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the big floral image on the front…

…and more of the Rich Razzleberry Regals DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  What a fun bundle – I love the sentiments and big floral in the Beautifully Braided stamp set and the Braided Border punch is super easy to use to create fun elements for your projects!  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn FINALLY has a horse he can herd to his heart’s content with zero worry of ending up in the puppy ER!

Is it hard to tell this is a “horse” what with him herding-up-all-over it!?!?

Everyone has a different version of “herding”, okay??

For some people it looks a lot like slobbery gnawing!

Whatever works, right?

  1. Beautiful card Mary! I love the colors! The Poppy Parade really pops! Glad your weather was tamer than predicted. We were lucky here in Michigan also. We were prepared for the worst. Thanks for sharing!

Glad you escaped the worst, too, Pam! Thanks for the kind words! 🙂

  2. Sweet card, Mary. Love that stamp set and new punch! Thanks for the inspiration.

  3. Pretty card! Great colors. 🙂 Glad that Finn found a horse that he can herd in his own special way. I’m guessing that your girls would not appreciate the slobberyness of this type of herding. 😉

  4. Beautiful, Mary! I LOVE all of the “braids”! They add so much interest. The sequins are the perfect accents!

  5. Love your card…that background is awesome!!!

  6. Anne Marie Hile

I’m cracking up at your dimensional comment, Mary. So funny! Dimensional lovers unite! On a serious note, I’m happy you didn’t lose power though. Yikes! Your card is fabulous, as always. Love the tilted layers on the background and let’s talk about that loopy bow. Fabulous!! You rocked the colors this week, for sure. Love the pup pics, too.

I was, too, Anne Marie. That adds a whole ‘nuther lever of SCARY to those kinds of storms! 🙁 Thank you so much – those darned double-loop bows are one of my favorites things! 🙂

  7. What a fun sketch for these colors! I love that new embossing folder, and the way you used the diecuts! Very cool!

  8. Wonderful card Mary! I love how you used the punched braids for the card design and that floral stamp is really pretty! Your dog with his horse made me giggle, he looks like he’s really getting into it! Have a great week!

Thanks, Stef – appreciate it! Yes – he LOVES his toys! A LOT! 🙂

  9. Joanne James

Great card Mary – I used the Braided Bundle set in my card class this week so have been using it lots and I love how you used the braids for the mixed pieces behind your label on this card – it creates lots of interest, dimension and texture. A great way to use these bold colours too!
