Stampin’ Up! Frosty Free Skate on Christmas Layers

Mornin’, y’all – here we are – 50% of the way thru the weekend!  Bleh (for those of you who have to work tomorrow!).  😉

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live, I appreciate you spending part of your precious weekend time-off with me! If not, but you’d like to see how we made today’s card, here’s the Memorex version!

I pulled out a new-to-me bundle called Free Skate – which also has a gorgeous die set with it called Detailed Skate.  Then I combined that with a couple of die cuts from the Christmas Layers die set and some Feels Like Frost 6″ x 6″ Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

I started with a piece of silvery, snow-flake-y paper from the Feels Like Frost 6″ x 6″ Specialty DSP and matted it on Soft Sea Foam for the card front.

Next up are some die cut snowflakes from the Christmas Layers Die set – in Pretty Peacock Foil from the Noble Peacock Foil sheets (Annual Catalog).  I adhered two of the die cuts with Liquid Glue.

The skates – cut from Soft Sea Foam – are cut using the detailed and solid dies in the Detailed Skate Die set.  I did a little trimming – cutting the blade off the detailed cut – and adhered that to the solid skates with Liquid Glue.  A Silver Foil blade is also adhered with Liquid Glue.

I hand-drew some “laces” with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker, then I adhered one skate with Liquid Glue to the card front and popped the second over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut a Cherry Cobbler bow with the die in the Detailed Skate set and adhered it with a dab of Liquid Glue.

The sentiment, from Free Skate, is stamped in Pretty Peacock on Whisper White, cut with the Everyday Label Punch, edged with Cherry Cobbler (using my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker) – and adhered with Liquid Glue and a Dimensional.

I stamped two of the holly images from Free Skate in Pretty Peacock on Whisper White and colored them with my Light Pretty Peacock, Dark Soft Sea Foam and Light/Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends.  Then I cut them with their matching die from the Detailed Skate Die set.

I adhered them with Liquid Glue and added a few Pearl Basic Jewels that I’d colored with my Dark Cherry Cobbler Blend.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Free Skate in Pretty Peacock on a Whisper White panel.  I added the snowflake image in Soft Sea Foam – and another holly image, too!  I brushed the berries with my Clear Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Soft Sea Foam mat and into my Cherry Cobbler card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more snowflakes and holly on the front…

…and a little more Feels Like Frost 6″ x 6″ Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think this Free Skate Bundle is such a pretty set – with wonderful sentiments and images that are perfect for wintery cards!  And the textures from the Christmas Layers die will be a great addition to all your projects.  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Okay – pre-emptive apologies for all of you who believe you are owned by the smartest dog in the world.

You absolutely SHOULD think that – and you SHOULD tell him or her that he/she is the smartest dog in the world several times a day.

But – twixt you and me?  You’re dead wrong.

I know this because I have the smartest dog in the world. 😉

Here’s how I know this.

In the mornings, after we’ve put the girls out, we set a spell on the porch.  When I head in to clean….he stays here…

It usually takes me about 15-20 minutes to clean both stalls.

Then I get the hay.

As soon as I slide this door open…

…here he comes…and he re-positions to the end of the aisle.

He watches me make two trips with hay into each stall and when I come out of the hay room for the fourth time…

…he’s ready to roll!

It’s time to run the manure spreader around the back line.

And he KNOWS it.

See what I mean?

Smartest.  Dog.  Ever.

‘Nuff said. 😉

  1. Hi Mary! I missed your live last night, but looked at your card this morning. BEAUTIFUL!! You make the most amazing cards ever. Thanks for sharing your talent. Have a great Sunday.

  2. Pretty card and fun video last night! Hahahaha…Finn is brilliant for sure. 😉

  3. Yep! One smart dog! And probably the smartest dog in the world. (I can say that since I no longer have a dog) Very pretty card. Loved the video…thanks for the cookbook plug. What a pleasant surprise! Didn’t get to watch live as it was Kids’ Day and when I got home I sat down and….fell asleep. Slept through the live version.

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – sounds like you had a long and wonderful day! I don’t blame you one bit for hitting the sack when you got home! Thank you so much, Julie! 🙂

  4. Forgot to ask….do you recognize anything on the category dividers in the cookbook?

    • stampsnlingers

Ha! Lovely As a Tree LIVES ON!! Super cool use of a favorite stamp set!! Guessing we know who designed those dividers!! 🙂

  5. Barbara

Finn is a beautiful dog. And I am happy to belong to his fan club. My parents had 2 border collies.

    • stampsnlingers

BC’s are so smart!! Bet they were fun! Thanks so much, Barbara! 🙂

  6. Gerri K

Finn is an amazing dog and I love following his adventures. We have 2 dogs and while they are pretty ferocious protecting us from the occasional deer that passes through, they aren’t quite as wise as Finn.
You have a pretty interesting life yourself on a farm with horses and visiting pigs. Not to mention being a pilot.. pretty cool stuff.

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you, Gerri – it has (and still does!!) kept us busy all these years. And the military was good to us – as was my second “retirement” job! Appreciate the kind words – and…I am SURE your dogs know EXACTLY when they need to protect you and when they can snooze thru it! 🙂
