Stampin’ Up! A Beautiful Friendship Eclipse Thank You!

Good morning – it’s FRIDAY!!  Whoo-hoo!!  Hope the weekend is looking good for y’all!

I had another special request for a card – this one a thank you with…hopefully!…some peonies.  So – I sent some ideas and we settled on the beautiful flower in the Beautiful Friendship stamp set.  I combined that with the Thank You Die and a sentiment from the A Big Thank You stamp set.  Take a look-see:

As I was figuring what to do for this one, I got the e-mail notice for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge – and it clicked for me!  Do an Eclipse card! 😉

And it seemed to work perfectly with this week’s Watercooler Challenge!

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock and started building a Beautiful Friendship flower garden.  First up – the peonies.  I used my Stamparatus, stamping the first one in full strength Petal Pink.  For the second one, I inked the stamp and stamped it off once.  Then I stamped the card front.  I used a Sponge Dauber to add more Petal Pink to the bottom and edges of the image and stamped it again (thank you, Stamparatus!).

I made a couple of sticky note masks (stamped the sticky note with the image and fussy cut it) and laid them over the top of the two peonies.  Then I stamped the hydrangeas in Balmy Blue.  I also added stamped-off-once Highland Heather lilacs here and there.  I made a couple of hydrangea sticky note masks and used all the masks to add stamped-off-once Pear Pizzazz leaves around the image.

The final flower is the rose – stamped in Blushing Bride.  I added some stamped-off-once So Saffron flower centers to the peonies and that was it!

With my garden finished, I cut the Thank You Die from the middle of the panel.  I VERY CAREFULLY saved all the “chads” from the die.  Don’t miss this step! 🙂

I also cut three more of the Thank You dies from Basic Black cardstock and stacked them up with Liquid Glue.

I adhered the panel to a Basic Black mat with Liquid Glue.  I set the die cut back into the “hole” and then used Liquid Glue (teensy dabs!) to put all the “chads” back into their spot – adhering them to the Black panel.

I adhered the “real” die cut on top of the stacked black die cuts and then adhered the whole thing back into place on the card front.

I used a Glue Dot to adhere a Linen Thread double-length simple bow, added a few pink Noble Peacock Rhinestones and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a sentiment from A Big Thank You in Balmy Blue – and created another garden scene on a Whisper White panel.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Black mat and into a Petal Pink card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Beautiful Friendship flowers on the front…

…and on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  A flower garden for a friend!  I love the flower images in the Beautiful Friendship stamp set, don’t you?  And the Thank You Die is a wonderful starting point for the eclipse technique!  I hope you like!

  1. Just when I think there are no more wows left in me, you come along with a beauty like this and WOW! All of my favorite flowers on one card. Of course, now I want THAT stamp set. Your stamping and design is tres magnifique. You know how to grow a flower garden for sure. Perhaps your next line of work will be Master Gardener 🙂 Finny is so cute looking for his friends. I wonder how he would do at herding them?

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – these are the ONLY flowers I’m likely to have much luck with – but thank you very much, Karen! And – they don’t WANT to be herded, I’m quite certain! 🙂

  2. What a beautiful card! The colors are perfect and the floral images are perfect for that technique. Finn is definitely at the ready to herd those babies…if they’d stop hiding. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

They’re sneaky little boogers, for sure! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  3. Absolutely stunning!! No more needs to be said.

oh goodness, Mary….I do think this is the most beautiful card ever!! I am definitely going to try to copy it….doubt if I can come up to yours, but it won’t be for lack of trying!! Last Christmas I did eclipse cards (only a dozen) with the big letter NOEL. I used dimensionals to pop the letters up, but I love how you used layers of black!! Gorgeous card!!

    • stampsnlingers

Have fun with it, Faith – it’s such a pretty set! Making the sticky note masks is the key!! Thanks very much for your kind words! 🙂
